It's an Ice Bell cymbal. Haruna is the "Little Big Engine". This is one of their older songs, 2017 I believe. But they do it live in 2021 Concert Heavy Metal Never Dies. LOVEBITES songs are so full of crunchy goodness, you can't absorb it all in less than 10 to 20 times of listening to the song. Information overload. This band has no peer.

The star cymbal is a cymbal that Haruna can no longer use and brought it to a town factory to be processed into an accessory, which has become her trademark. After that, other bands also wanted the accessories, so they began to manufacture and sell them.
"Shadowmaker" is a song included in their first full-length album "AWAKENING FROM ABYSS" (November 2017), which was released five months after their major debut, and this music video was also uploaded around the same time. Initially, the video included announcements of album and concert tour dates. They deleted the unnecessary announcement part and re-uploaded it about half a year ago.
By the way, the music video of "The Crusade" (June 2018) was also re-uploaded.

It's an Ice Bell - Zildjian has one that's called a Zyl Bell. You can see it on the left side of her kit, upside-down on her ride cymbal @ 14:15 . It is her 'favorite' cymbal I believe. She uses it a lot for off-tempo accents (she does that with all her cymbals a LOT). Tylr, I believe you've been quite thoroughly Lovebitten - Welcome to the Wolfpack 🐺🐺🐺🐺. Your Music Producer is showing, I think it takes one, or a serious performing musician, to really get just HOW F-ing good this band is. Miyako, the black haired guitarist is also a concert quality piano soloist. To see how she makes Classical Piano work in a Thrash song, check out Swan Song [+Chopin Intro] - One Word: Masterpiece! ua-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/v-deo.html (w/CC) 🤘🐺🤘

    LOVEBITES - Shadowmaker lyrics:
Caught in the noise, my thoughts are destroyed
Trapped in the silence, it's so hard to breathe
But still I go on, my hunger is strong
Hoping that someone will grab my hand
Stranded by moonlight I realize the cold of this world
    Maybe it's too late?
    No one can save me
From all of the darkness and solitude
Cry, like shadows of the night
I carry all the pain inside to justify why I'm alive
    Despite going through this hell
Cause still my heart has hope
No matter if I'm torn apart, I'll play my part
Before I drown with secret thoughts of my heart
Reckless and fast, how long will I last?
Dancing like puppets, I'm empty inside
Fighting the fear, and grieving the dear
Hoping that someday I'll be repaid
Only my echoing heartbeats can prove that I'm here
    Am I all alone?
Even a faint light is too bright for me, I can't see a thing
    Hide, in shadows I reside
I tremble like a heartless soul, no place to go
In desolated land knowing no escape
But still I wish to live
Just waiting for a somebody to notice me
Before I fall down to depths of the abyss
    SOLO: midori / mi-ya / both / miya
Caught in the noise, my thoughts are destroyed
Trapped in the silence, it's so hard to breathe
But still I go on, my hunger is strong
Hoping that someone will grab my hand
Stranded by moonlight I realize the cold of this world
    Maybe it's too late?
No one can save me from solitude
Cry, like shadows of the night
I tremble like a heartless soul, no place to go
In desolated land knowing no escape
But still I wish to live
Just waiting for a somebody to notice me
Before I fall down to depths of the abyss
    Like shadows of the night
I carry all the pain inside to justify why I'm alive
    Despite going through this hell
Cause still my heart has hope
No matter if I'm torn apart, I'll play my part
Before I drown with secret thoughts of my heart

This MV is a re-release of Shadowmaker, a song off their CD Awakening From Abyss (2017). The original MV had a commercial in the middle of it which they took out for the re-release. This is basically Asami still getting used to singing metal. And yeah, top to bottom it is a kickass song. The whole CD is!

This song introduced Lovebites to the world, even though it wasn’t their first release. An awful lot of the Wolfpack tell me they remember that they sat up and took notice when this was released. Most reactors on the other hand have their epiphany with Holy War. That’s because it was released to promote their second live release on UA-cam and hit during Covid. So now virtually every first time reaction is Holy War and most people recommending that someone checks out Lovebites tells them to check out Holy War. Now don’t misinterpret the next sentence, but out of almost 50 Lovebites tracks, none of which are weak and none of which I dislike, if I were to have to list them in order, favourite down to not quite as favourite, Holy War would be in this Wolf’s last 10 or so tracks. As an introduction to Lovebites, I recommend this track, or Set the World on Fire, and if someone wants a suggestion for their second reaction, I say that they should check out “Epiloguel live (2019) because shows both ends of Lovebites incredible musical spectrum, and that they should expect every variation they can imagine between the two.

Comparing LIVEBITES and BAND-MAID is natural since I do believe those are your first two bands from the hard rock and metal scene in Japan and you're still new to both. If you decide to listen to them more, you'll realize that there isn't that overlap in their overall sound. That's one thing I love about the Japanese music scene is that bands like this don't sound alike. If you ever get to Nemophila or Babymetal or Wagakki Band or Unlucky Morpheus, and you *DEFINITELY* should get to them all, you'll see that while they have a core sound, each of those groups has a lot of diversity in their songs. Oh, and one last thing about BAND-MAID and LOVEBITES is that their drummers are friends, or at least friendly acquaintances. They've shared pictures of themselves hanging out together. One of the guitarists from Nemophila, was recently interviewed by Herman Li of DragonForce. He asked if she knew BAND-MAID; Saki said that they did, that most of the female musicians in Japan know each other. For some reason that warmed my heart.
I'm going to recommend Nemophila for whenever you feel like delving into a new metal band from Japan. The song I'm going to recommend is Dissension. Here's the link.

Old school.. Well, the genre spans back to the late 60s, early 70s, so Slipknot can't hardly be called it.
Well, i see where you're coming from. If you want to check out where their inspiration comes from, you must check out Iron -Maiden (Aces high), Judas Priest (Freewheel burning), Slayer, Metallica and not at least Helloween (Eagle fly free, which they also made a cover of). All these really made a massive mark in the 80s and has made some of the finest metal.

This video was the first time i saw LOVEBITES, and 30 seconds in, i was already hooked, especially on Haruna!! 🤘🐺🤘
This one is from their first album, the video was recently uploaded to their official channel but the song is older!
The solo section in this song is insane, Midori and Miyako making those guitars sing!! Haruna uses a bell mounted on top of her ride cymbal to make that "ping" sound you were mentioning!!

Hard to believe that Akane and Haruna are friends...what would they have to talk about, to share? This is still my favorite early(-ish) Lovebites MV. The pure metal soul of the band at that time. No diversions, affectations, musical sidebars or loss of focus or ferocity. This is a street race performed by passionate, ferocious and technically proficient "drivers". When I started listening to Band Maid, then Lovebites, the terms "Maidiacs" and "Wolfpack" didn't exist. Now armies of them roam the countryside. I guess that some things in life are getting better!
