As mentioned in the intro, this video was meant to release almost a year ago in August of 2023. It's been a labor of love working on this video on and off for the past year, and I truly want to thank you all for continuing to support me in any way you have. EDIT: The source code used to generate some of the motion graphics in this video is now available at github.com/CactusPuppy/motion-canvas-projects !
My experience with this mode was that it was pretty fun for the first couple of days it was out until people started to learn the optimal strategies, then most of the games either became orisa traps rein in the basement the whole game or rein runs in circles camping powerups all game. The same thing happens with a lot of the official arcade modes though, and I still got an hour or two of enjoyment out of it. I hope blizzard tries putting workshop modes in arcade again sometime
One of the best seasonal modes for sure. The fact that you only worked on the mode for less than a month is crazy. Hopefully you get more chances to create some new modes, maybe with some of the canceled pve abilities we never got the see that would be sick.
the level of production value in this video is sooo good, so great to see the bts of this arcade mode. i definitely had fun playing both the demon and the heroes
Knowing you made a whole game mode was already incredible but seeing what all went into it? Holy cow :O! Very cool to hear about your process and analyzing the things you balanced or would have changed.
I had more fun with the custom mode when it was available compared to damn near anything glizzard themselves made (like the awful invasion mode they threw out before), hope they give you some more chances to make some custom modes in the future.
With all the stuff you mentioned that was cut due to time constraints or lack of testing, I'd love to see a revised and/or expanded version of Defeat the Demon Lord!
very noice. very noice to see how it all went, the ups and downs. It was a very fun game mode, not particulary my fav, but way better than Battle of Olympus and Mirrorwatch. The only thing that made the mode less fun was, like you said in 13:20, when the Rein player run arround the map and only showing up to ult. This happened to me at least five times. Five very frustrating matches. But overall, like I said before, it was a really fun mode.

Idk why blizzard still don't implement server-side code to interact with navmesh. I had same problems creating pathfinding mechanisms, crashed many and many lobbies 😂😂

I would like to see how you did the coding part. I am a dev and want to try to make some game mode my self in custom games, but the "language" is so different from anything else I have used. Some insights from behind the scenes would be fun :)

You can always play the mode by importing the Workshop code into a custom game, but unfortunately that does require you to bring some friends to play with! Import code is YAR3X
I completely no-lifed this mode LOL A lot of fun, honestly though the things I remember being most frustrating was Eichenwalde with a lifeweaver. At that point it was a guaranteed loss and, honestly? I had a pretty positive winrate as rein without those.

GETS. BULLIED. but still you did great i can't wait for the next one the let you make mystery ults is a banger btw edited: alright i didn't know you already talked about a come back mechanic already sorry I'll just watch next time i wanted... you to know i enjoyed it sorry

I loved Season 5! It was one of my favourite seasons in terms of theme and mode, and I loved how this documentary was laid out!
