"The White Villa" is a horror short story by American author, Ralph Adams Cram, first published in his book, Black Spirits and White, in 1895. The story tells of two travellers exploring southern Italy, who are forced to spend the night in a remote, haunted villa, after missing the last train to Naples. I adore the classic ghost stories , you are a constant delight Ian , in your choice of content and of course in your beautiful reading. Thank you yet again. 😘
I love stories like this. You narrate what is perhaps my favorite time-period. Anything horror or horror/sci-fi from about 1800-1950 is fantastic. This was a great haunted house story.
Great reading of a fine classic haunted house story. I really like those classics. May I suggest a haunted house/mansion/castle/windmill/anything really collection? Or maybe there is one? Also, a ghost collection would be great! :)
One of my favorite writers, Cram's , "The Dead Valley" , is a haunting strange tale story of two young boys who allowed to cross a nearby peak to purchase a puppy at a nearby village fair. It does not end well.
Great story, great reading (as usual), but I must admit I was disappointed Cram felt the need to explain everything at the end. Another story of his, The Dead Valley, is one of the best examples of weird fiction I've ever read, owing in no small part to its complete lack of explanation.

The author was a famous architect as well. He designed the beautiful Gothic Revival First Presbyterian Church in my town.
Awesome story. I love the description of the house. These older stories are so good and rich.
Great narration! Thanks!
