Dude, it's amazing, you're super talented
Thank you!
Great Art Work Very Well Done 👍
Just amazing art dude! I hope they let you make more or show your art off more. Keep up the awesome work!
Absolutely amazing. I legit had to do a double take and go really?
Fun fact: the building the Constitution runs into is the main office building for the bank it launched from.
You’re right that’s a very fun fact!
DAMN YOU WEATHERBY SAVINGS AND LOANS!
If that’s true, it’s friggin hilarious
Whetherby Savings & Loan is Ironsides' Moby Dick, except instead of hunting it he's trying to get the hell away from them lol
Next they're gonna land on the ruins of the mansion of the founder of the Weatherby banking followed by the graveyard he is buried and ending on the ghouls of the board of directors who were running the company before the war literally inches from the ocean. Or maybe the entrance to the vault they fled into.
The image of the brotherhood seeing a wooden ship fly right in front of them and for a millisecond thinking shit we underestimate those minutemen
Then it crashed into the other building. One paladin looked to a scribe and said " Then again maybe not"
Now the prydwin is within range.
@@TacPhoenixand is standing directly abeam for a good broadside!
@@theenigma7290 *robot voice* Fire all cannons
I really wish that after this mission we could commender the USS constitution for the minutemen
Yes, using rocks as ballast was a thing. In fact, if you ever go to New Bedford, Massachusetts, the cobblestone streets are made of rocks that were ballast for the whaling fleet.
Fun fact about downtown New Bedford! There are a lot of homeless in downtown New Bedford. Also this place sucks GET ME OUT OF HERE.
Using rocks as a weight was a thing on old ships. They were a sort of ballast to counterweight the masts.
You would increase or remove them depending on how much cargo/ordinance you were carrying.
A fun little fact is this is how earthworms - in particular, nightcrawlers - ended up in North America: showed up in the ballast of ships from Europe and were spread when they dumped their ballast for the return.
That makes sense that ballast is rocks in old ships, because you know what they call the piles of rocks they build train tracks on?
Ballast.
Depending on the size of the ship they may also have done a massive molten lead pour in the keel.
@@Zach_Hazard Huh... that makes more sense now.
I love learning from you, thanks to you I am now cursed with gun facts and random facts. XD@@Zach_Hazard
This one is a legitimately great quest with fanastic payoff. it's thematic, it's funny, it's weird, it's Fallout, pure and simple
" thematic, it's funny, it's weird " is NOT Fallout.
How is the USS constitution, crewed by robots and flying with rocket engines thematic?
Humor only became prevalent in Fallout 2.
There were only 6 special encounters in Fallout 1... randomly encountered and missable special encounters not front stage and center quest that are almost impossible to miss.
Also it crashed stupidly into a building and your character was rewarded with a hilariously impractical weapon they would have no way of using. How is that a fantastic payoff?
The fact that this is such a big "look what we can do" bragging quest in Fallout 4, a game where you are playing a recently widowed parent desperately looking for their kidnapped child, and one with the most work put into it, should serve as the proof how dumb Bethesda is and how much Fallout 4 is a children's cartoon.
I guess Old World Blues isn't fallout then.
@@Palora01you must be fun at parties. Most of the concepts of fallout are high sci-fi it's meant to be weird and strange.
@@Palora01it’s people like you that are the reason why the Fallout fandom is so divided, that it gives Bethesda the Privilege to do whatever they want with the franchise Fallout
@@uria3679 are you for real? It's people like me, people who hate what Bethesda has done with Fallout, that allow Bethesda to continue doing it ? It's us not the people going "this cartoon is what Fallout is all about"? How high are you right now?
I laughed WAY too hard at the "urban camouflage" bit.
"How to make yourself look like a brick: Step 1, think like a brick."
Mike: "Done!"
I think I laughed so hard because I instantly remembered Mike was a Marine, given the stereotypes about Marines.
Honestly, even just Mike's personality, he has a very short attention span, hates reading, tends to rush into battle, ye, brickbrain for sure
I thought he was a jar of pickles
What I love about this quest is that now shopkeeps will just randomly start selling cannonballs upon completing it while siding with Ironside, as if they just found them out of nowhere.
Maybe cannonballs fell out of the ship as it flew over the city ;)
My headcanon is that they had them in storage marked 'junk' with some other knickknacks. Then this crazy bastard who helped the even crazier robots on the old ship crash into a taller building starts carrying around an old naval cannon - making the vendors go: "Hang on, I can finally sell these old balls to the crazy person!"
They’ll always sell them, just you have no use for them till the quest is complete, unless you send them to the scavengers for some reason.
@@suntiger745don’t you mean your “headcannon”?
@@orukarm No, there is no headcannon for Fallout 4.
The closest thing is Dak's shoulder-mounted M2 Browning, which Mike and Zach put on Nick Valentine for a while. ;)

The Last Voyage of the USS Constitution is on of my favorite quests. It's a fun nonsense quest, seeing the ship fly through the air is glorious.
And then it crashes onto another bank. But then you get to visit it again for a lieutenant hat!
@@nathanford2072 DAMN YOU, WEATHERBY SAVINGS & LOAN!!!
@@richardgadberry8398I spit at you!
It's a good thing that you dedicate episode 100 to the side quest involving the robot marines.
6:28 I think it's Killable Children mod. I assume it removes "IsChild" flag from child NPCs. This flag not only prevents children from taking damage, it is also used to prevent use of items and idles children are not supposed to use.
Ahhhhhhhh interesting
I think, honestly, it makes sense.
Children smoke and drink now (even though they shouldnt), and parents in rural environments tend to be a bit more relaxed if their child takes after them. Besides theyll likely die from the hostile environment before the cancer will get them.
But yea its a bit jarring
I always found it weird how none of the kids from little lamplight smoked or anything considering the lack of "mungos". But guns? Yup no problem there, here let me sell you guys this fatman launcher I found.
Didn't see if you did this, but talking to Ironsides at the end, he'll give you a copy of his hat. Thought Zach would have found that neat, even more than the weapon.
i think that got interupted by someone on a nearby highway shooting at ironsides and i dont think he bothered to talk to him again
If you hadn't been interrupted talking with Cpt. Ironsides, he would have rewarded you with his hat!
Congrats on 100 episodes of Fallout 4 guys! Here's to another 100 and even more!
9:07 The mythbusters took on the black paint myth in episode 99 and found it plausible, but only if the person was also wearing a baseball cap the paint on its own does almost nothing
Neat! Face paint does reduce the glare on your face when other people are looking at you (which is why camo paint is a thing), but I always found it tenuous that it reduced glare on your eyes.
@@Zach_Hazard Yup when in doubt Mythbusters, they were on so long and covered so many things checking if they have covered a myth and tested is sometimes easier then going through google.
Well that and the gratuitous explosions.
Never gets old when somethin' blows up
If you guys go back and finish your conversation with Ironsides on top of the building, he gives you a cool hat!
46:00 Oblivion had realistic lockpicking, but I assume Bethesda concluded that people found it too challenging, and changed over to the spinning minigame that has now flooded the industry.
This was a good quest to save for episode 100. One of my favorite quests from the original game.
There's a line between plausible and absurd and for this quest someone took a rocket powered cartoon car and just said "Let's have fun!" and then when blasting off veering wildly between the two sides of the line while cackling maniacally. XD
Also, that position issue with Deacon was one of the bugs that loop around to becoming a feature. Laughed out loud when I saw it, especially when he walked. :D
43:41 that was pure gold right there! 😂

*HAPPY 100TH FO4 EPISODE, MIKE AND ZACH!*
Also, 6:22 - Shut up, Meg.
Tis a good day
Yes, zach, every ship had ballast made of rocks, gravel, sometimes iron bars, and even the accumulated waste of the men to add stability, which really added to the smell….
Fun fact, you know what they call the piles of rocks they build train tracks on? Ballast.
I thought it was coincidental it had the same name as the stuff in boats.
No, that last is the 'bilge' not the 'ballast' - they'd be stored in separate 'decks'
Another FunFact:
the reason the toilet on a ship is called the "head" is because it use to be in the beakhead below the forecastle. This was also where they would rig the bowsprit from. The waste would go into the ocean.
I dont know whats funnier: Your reactions to the Constitution taking off or your interpretation of how those on the Prydwen saw the take off
"Why is everyone being so mean to me?"
They hated your forward-facing tail joke.
In case you don't know about USS Constitution, while it is not the first commissioned vessel of the US Navy, it is the longest serving, still commissioned ship afloat in the navy and the world as it's crew are all still US Navy personnel
I have never considered that this was all done in full view of the BoS and now Mike and Zach’s bit seems canonical to me
The entire BoS: "What the hell was that?!"
“Maybe thats one robot we shouldn’t mess with.”
As we all know, the USS Constitution could defeat ANY modern warship. The F35s would bounce off her iron hull!
Once cannonball ammo starts appearing in shops, it became my favorite heavy weapon right next to the rocket launcher and Gatling Laser
Apparently yes! Rocks and other materials were used as ballast before ballast tanks were invented and installed!
Fun Fact: If you have a jet pack, after you fire up the auxiliary generator, you can jet back to the Constitution and ride on it until it slams into the building. It results in an insta-kill, but it's fun nonetheless to see. Hey, by the way...did you talk to Ironsides enough to get the Lieutenant's Hat? To quote Heather, "That's a really nice hat." Also good for a Charisma boost when needed.
If you get inside the ship before it takes off you survive the crash, which is a good way to not have to climb the building to get Ironsides' hat
Episode 100 and they open with a penis joke, yell about peanut butter cups, and shooting guards. I love this series.
A great way to start the day, A Zach and Mike video

A tip i use for remembering port is saying there are no drinks left in port
"they take a couple potshots at you and you fire an entire barrage at them?!"
The USS Wisconsin leveled an entire north korean mountainside after they fired a howitzer at the ship during the Korean war
well, it WAS a shore battery of long barrel guns designed to attack ships that came 'close' (like maybe 5 miles); the battery fired a full salvo of all guns - around 8 a guess - and managed to put one shell onto the Wisconsin, where it exploded on impact (didn't pierce the armor) and injured three men...
...and yes, the Iowa-class battleship returned fire with its main battery of 9 x 16in guns and pulverized the emplacement the shore battery was in, either destroying the guns or rendering them incapable of aiming and firing, and most certainly killed at least part of the guns' crews, while the survivors fled - there was on return fire to Wisconsin's counter-battery.
when I was in the scouts we did an overnight on the USS Silverside a WW2 sub, was rather fun.
Deacon joined the Ministry of Silly Walks there for a while
to answer zach's question about the rocks: yes, old ships were filled with rocks on the bottom for ballast. also the reason why there were so many rats and mice, they could hide in the ballast. a lot of commercial fishing boats nowadays still have a bunch of lead in places for ballast. also the constitution wasn't the first naval ship, but it is the only surviving naval ship from that era. it got it's name, "old ironsides" because in one battle, cannonballs just bounced off the side and left no damage, causing one of the crew to yell "huzzah, her sides be made of iron!"
20:13 The robot is saying "barmy." It's a British idiom that, like most of their phrases, makes no real sense but means crazy/silly/foolish.
Came to say that too. 'Barmy' is one of those words that kind of just exist in it's own meaning and specific use and no one knows why.
Finally another human who uses the same method of port/starboard!
For a moment at the start I heard "the Brazilian 1911!" And thought "gd that's the worst kind."
This is easily one of the greatest quests I've seen y'all play. Great job!

I love how Zach pulled the wiki article on his pipboy.
The black paint near the eyes thing is real, it's why cheetahs have those black lines next to their eyes. As for the rocks I the ship, its ballast, keeps the ship lower in the water so it doesn't rock as much.
Nah, the black lines on a cheetahs face are racing stripes to make them go faster! :D
I like how under Zach the minutemen have turned into a sort of Anarchist Black Army
No true leader, just a goal to defend people making their living, and excessive amounts of armament to do it with.
"She told me to beat it do I dumped a 5.56 round into her chest"
It's moments like this that make me fear Zach, knowing what his intrusive thoughts might've been in the military.
Zach, they did put that as some sort of ballast mainly for the weight. Nowadays on sailing ships they use bags of concrete to keep them stable.
26:28 You can actually throw objects in this game. While psychically holding something in front of you, hold the reload key to charge up a throw. The longer you hold it, the farther it goes.

As far as I remember that's the only quest in the base game that has skill checks. A shame! I really have to do the quest again in my next playtrough, once Sim Settlement 2 has finally it's next big update.
Far Harbor adds a few skill checks, as well as a few actual skill puzzles that people get mad about because they ain't smart enough and need the game to play itself.
@@renaigh I don't think it was because the puzzle was too hard. Most opinion I've read on them, was that they were too repetitive while taking too long. While I liked them, once you figured out, it still took some time till it finished were I had nothing to do.
@@Tiberium10332 this. the puzzles were actually nice in their concept, and a nice use of unrelated game mechanics, but good lord, 5 of them, in quick succession, with the last one taking upward of 15 minutes even just to execute a guided solution, for pitiful game rewards and only partial lore rewards

2:20 You don't want her to bathe in the river or else you'll never get the smell off those fish!
The only submarine i've ever been on is a decommed WWII gato-class sub called the USS Silversides. fun fact: it's one of the most sucessful subs of its class, having a total of 23 confirmed enemy sinkings. one of my favorite stories about it is that one time, while maneuvering through an enemy fishing fleet and approaching its targets, the periscope got caught in a fishnet marked by Japanese flags held up on bamboo poles. it continued the approach, fishnet and all, and fired three torpedoes at and sank one ship by hitting it with 2 torpedoes, a 4,000-ton cargo ship and while that ship was sinking, a second cargo ship was also hit (but its unknown whether or not it went down) Patrol boats were closing in as the sub, probably the only American submarine to make an attack while flying the Japanese flag, quickly left the vicinity. it then sank a freighter and tanker in the same area before going back to pearl harbor.
Apparently, yes sailing ships had stones in the bottom for ballast to stop them from rolling over. These stones were added or removed as needed depending on the weight of the cargo, supplies, and ordnance.
The Constitution is the ONLY frigate currently in service. Also when a P-way needs to be cleared for someone passing through, we just say "make a hole." Or "make way." And for those wondering, speaking in the proper idiom is almost required of the crew of the Constitution, they also must have no tattoos, and wear the uniform of the sailors of the day. Interestingly enough the robots use the old Naval exclamation of "Huzzah" though today we use "Hooyah" for some fuckn reason. This is the only quest I actually enjoy doing in Fallout 4, purely because its naval in theme for almost everything including the reward of broadsider.
Yea just looked this up and apparently those rocks are the actual ballasts. In the old wooden sail boats that we see in pirate movies would actually would be loaded and unloaded with rocks and sandbags as more or less cargo was in the ship. The More You Know

I knew you guys were going to eventually reference the Dead Ale Wives DND skit, but I wasn't expecting it in a Fallout video.
That has to be the greatest Navy captain I've ever seen.
So it would seem.
For Zach's question about the rocks in the ship: YES! It was actually a thing. They couldn't really mass produce lead like we can today, and it was also really expensive at the time, so instead of having lead ballast they would put a ton of rocks in the keel to help keep the ship more stable while at sea. You see it in a lot of old ships from that era and you can even see it in some really old shipwrecks.
Yes, because obviously lead was for water pipes.
