I came across 2 houses right next to each other that were CRAZY overgrown. After doing the first one, I got a TON of comments wanting me to clean up the 2nd one. So, I went back and spent an entire day completely transforming the lawn. I even found 2 completely buried sidewalks making their way around the side of the home!

you never said what creeped you out about the back yard......what was it?
I too want to know what “creeped you out” about the back yard

and have been vacant since. 🤣
Wouldn't it be cool if someone purchased these two properties and brought them back to the beauty they deserve. The yard transformations are amazing.
The house in this video has a collapsed roof 🤷🏼♀️ It’s a tear down way beyond sensible renovations!
@@scarter8137 That it is
The man at the beginning said they've been sitting this way since 1996, nearly 30 years. They were very well built to still be standing, but I doubt a resto would be cost effective to even begin to be safe.
Edit: It was once someone's pride and joy and holds a lot of happy memories for a family somewhere. I'm sorry the light has left it because it really is a beautiful house.
There should be some law that requires a tear down if the house is in such a state. And if the owners cannot afford it, the land should be appropriated back to the municipality.
The Go Fund Me that Spencer set up for the injured cat and the care facility in Texas is still bringing dollars for animal care. Latest number is 176K +. Thanks to Spencer, and everyone else who donated. 💕💕
Thanks for the update..... Many people asked for one and never got it...... I, for example never knew he did one
I don't care for cat's I love dogs, and I like exotic animals but cats can live anywhere but around me
That's great news. I wish mine were as lucky.
Thank you for the update. Those good people can use every help dollar they can get. It all goes to saving the lives of one of world's sweetest animals. Cats. 🐈⬛
Amazing! Thank you all!!❤
nice to meet you again. I also went to mow the lawn and encountered a snake
These two houses must have been beautiful in their day. Such a shame to leave them abandoned 😢
That's what I thought, too. They were beauties in their day. So sad to see them abandoned now. They remind me of my great grandma 's house.
It looks like their from the 1800s...
It is tragic, as they were undoubtedly lovely at their best. But I wonder what kind of problems may lurk in such old, neglected houses: termites, toxic mold, asbestos, lead paint and/pipes, bad electrical wiring, and more. If any of those issues exist, these houses would be bottomless money pits to attempt to restore.
A section of the roof is missing - it would need to be demolished I think. Would it not make more sense to sell the properties before the houses are worthless.... I dont understand why this happens...
@@jennyrobertson8797 If you can buy them for taxes owed, it may be worth demolishing and rebuilding.
I have now found enough inspiration to go help in the neighborhood of an old friend of mine.
She lives in some great condos, made for folks with physical/psychological challenges. The area NEXT to this place, is pretty non-kempt.
I want to change it (it IS a rather small area), and see, what the neighbors/locals have to say.😊
I'd still love to see a 2-part crossover with your pressure washing channel. One property, two videos. Clean up the yard in one video and do the driveway and sidewalks in the other.
Hah, that's what I was thinking, too, "We need SB Pressure Washing to clean up the paths, now!"
Ooo yes please!!
If it's able to be done. What are the chances the water is turned off? I'd like to see a trade school restore one of these abandoned homes and raffle it off to a new family.
I've thought about this.. would be cool

I agree
It's so crazy to think how many more places are just under that layer of green life.... 🎉❤
I love old houses and wide sidewalks like these. It just feels so homey. I think the sidewalks around the house may have been leading to gardens or for back door deliveries. Bless you for taking care of these beautiful old ladies--they won't be around forever.
Should bring the ‘Dream Team’ back to do the backyard. Safety in numbers. Haha
I could imagine that scenario with coolers of cold water and pop on that grand front porch and a big BBQ grill fired up to keep everyone fed. I absolutely love that big front porch!
Great Idea actually
Sad to see these beautiful old houses fall into such sad states. Thanks for making our country a little bit more beautiful!
"I didn't do the back yard because I was creeped out.." I felt that so much. same. that ol' creepy statue made me jump scare there at the end.

always makes me wonder who the last family/person was in this house. you know this was someones home they were making memories in
I live in Midwest farming country. It makes me sad to see old barns that are falling into ruins. Several generations ago that barn was some family’s pride and joy. They probably worked for years to earn enough money to build that large building. It takes a lot of money to maintain a barn. If it no longer has a function or purpose most families wouldn’t have that kind of money. I understand it is a passing way of life but it makes me sad.
@@carolynmaves503 Here in far NE Illinois, the working farms from the 70's are mostly all gone in favor of more and more housing developments 🤢
It's also amazing to me, in such a beautiful neighborhood , why the city just lets property sit there until it finally collapses onto itself. It probably was a really nice house at one time, and yet there it sits, a neighborhood eyesore for years and years. It's a total eyesore, it devalues the other properties on the street and is going to end up a dumping ground, or infested with critters. What's the point? If a city can issue a citation for grass, surely they should have some control over how long properties sit as vacant eyesores. It's really such a shame.
Was curious also, if the windows and doors are boarded up, why is there no FOR SALE sign up?
I think alot are owned by Medicare .Taken after the elderly person died & then Medicare just let's it sit until it falls down.Makes me sad to watch houses fall down when we travel. Some of those could house people that don't have a place.
I just love the old architecture on this house. Thank you for beautifying the neighborhood.
With so many people homeless, it is sad to see these boarded-up homes. Spencer, you made the neighborhood look clean and well kept again. Now maybe the owner will get inspired.
Did you see how much roof is missing? That grand old lady is going to be a money pit for someone. Very sad to see a formerly loved home so neglected to the point of being dilapidated. There oughta be a law...
@@kathleenrattray5592 There probably is. But enforcement is difficult and expensive for the city, no doubt.

Great job as usual! Love the before and after photos. ~Becka
Spencer, I'm so glad that you went back to clean up the house next door to the one from last week. Today's house looked like it would have been really lovely back in the day. It's a shame that it was allowed to rot and end up in disrepair. Thank you for all you do to help communities & neighborhoods in need.❤
Those walk ways maybe used to go to something specific that's not there any more. Depending on the age of the house, maybe a carriage house or shed, possibly even a summer kitchen for a really old house
I was thinking they were for walking in a flower garden area. Not really an invitation to go into the back yard, but allow visitors to see the flower beds. I bet this house was majestic back in its day
I’m noticing the detail of the house. Like all the spindles above the front porch and the light at the street. I bet it was a glory in its day. Fabulous job bringing it back alive Spencer.

It is sad for this house with beautiful architecture hasn't been kept up or saved. Wish I could see what it looked like new. Wonderful job as always, Spencer.
I was thinking the same
Wondering if there is a historical society that might have photos of them in their glory day?
With both houses done the transformation in that neighborhood is utterly amazing.
Strange mix of stress and satisfaction watching you do those two houses, with the abandoned structures I was so afraid of you running into animals especially wasps/hornets 😬😬
It's so sad that they've been abandoned for so long. They're still such sweet looking houses and must have been beautiful when inhabited. I"m sure the whole area appreciates having a sidewalk! As always, you did a brilliant job of sorting them out! That mannikin thing eeked me out too - perhaps it's a Hallowe'en leftover . . . I hope . . .

Now that's an amazing transformation. Oh how seeing those old ladies sitting there abandoned makes me wish I was healthy so I could restore them to their prior glory. I'm sure the neighbors are going to be happy. It's too bad both houses are too far gone to save.
No house is too far gone to save if obtained for the right price (taxes) and visionary flippers make the changes. HGTV has many examples. Great job, and may you receive back 100 fold!!
This house could be saved
@@DianeNichols-u1b Large parts of the roof are gone, exposing the interior to the weather, water and wildlife.
The walls are sinking onto the footing/foundation.
All of the exterior wood has been untreated for so long it is likely more dry rot than solid.
Termites and carpenter ants are likely.
And then there is the possibility of human-caused interior and structural damage.

While last week's house MIGHT be salvageable, I strongly suspect this week's house is a full tear-down.

Sir, can I take this time to command and show appreciation for the work you do?! I couldn’t do this backbreaking work and admire those that do. So, thank you for your commitment👍🏾
I like how the standing big mower lets you see where you are going in order to mow more precisely, and you seem to be able to do the reverse passes quicker
I try to do circle, square, or rectangle patterns (depending on the area) to save gas and time over switching from forward to reverse on my JD tractor. My father and I don't care about the "lines". In my case, I would still use my sitting tractor over the standing one you use because my feet get extremely fatigued.
