Answer me this.....apart from the sidequest does this help with the theory he survived or does the DLC happen before main story concludes
Joshua is alive here so it happens before end game
From Clive conversation with Charon at the beginning, I assume this questline takes place after the fight with Bahamut (hence the mention of the fall of Drake's Tail and the Crystalline Dominion) but before the final main quest (the mention of the forming of Origin)

The DLC happens before the final part of the main story.

I know people keep running wild with idea of Clive survived but they missed alot.
1. Hapocrate mention to Clive that Josh has a way with words and that Josh's work was just as astonishing as The Great Moss himself and said that Josh would make a good Historian and Josh should write down their journey someday. However, his words were meant in literal term "History, a True Record of their Journey" but Josh was passed out, so he have no recollection of what truly happened, only Clive would know that. So what he ended up writing, was a Fantasy. And you had to have your way with "Words" to be able to write a Fantasy Book.
2. In Martha's earlier quest, it mention once their arm is turned to stone, they doomed. Nothing can be done. Clive was shown a fully petrified arm with face turned stone white, if you pay attention to his nose bride, it also half stoned. Indicating that he was petrifying to his death.
3. Josh is Phoenix, even Odin said he had no doubt that Josh would survived after his massive attack at Josh, saying he's the Phoenix after all. And Josh himself, said his flame may be flickering but shall never died... it was shown that after Josh supposedly died, his feather, the one that Clive kept with himself at all time, was literally still burning. Also, if pay attention to his Adam's apple after Clive healed him, it was slightly moving... but it was extremely difficult to notice due to Clive's shadows, you have to really zoom in & watch many times, to notice his Adam's Apple did moved, very, very, very slightly as if he was swallowing something.
4. During the last fight, despite a prolonged fight, Josh who supposedly dead, was never turned into stone while all other Dominants who died, turned almost instantly. This could be indicating that Josh was never truly dead.
5. People insisting that book could be written by Clive himself under Josh's name or that could it be Clive's son who shared same name as Josh but lots of people missed one of biggest the clue... "War of Eikons" that the boys were role playing... They speak of Ifrit & Bahamut but no one mention Phoenix at all. If Clive were to write this, or anyone else were to write in honor of Josh, shouldn't Phoenix Eikon be like the Spotlight??? But on the other hand, if Josh were to be true author, it would make more sense that written about his brother & his best friend and remove himself from the story in order to honor just The Two, Ifrit & Bahamut. First boy, said he wish he had power of Eikon of Fire but never mention Phoenix. The absent of Phoenix in the book, indicating that it was Josh who wrote it.
6. There is a Leader of Undying, a secret covenant that protect Phoenix, Cyril. If you zoomed in his cloth, you'll see a Symbol of a Cross on his chest, with a little belt on his top coat. Symbol itself, almost 99% identical to that of the Book Cover with book emblem is more refined with details.
This is the first time the way the crystals and the blight work makes sense with Cid's theory.
This part of the story should've been moved forward to when Cid was still there and they could've based the theory on this.
For the game this could've been a cool dungeon. As DLC it's kinda meh...
It wouldn't surprise me if something like that was originally intended. We know that a lot was cut from the game. Drake's Eye - the Ice Mother Crystal of the North - has a map model in the game like the others and there is what appears to be a partially constructed scene model (what the crystal would have looked liked from a distance within the game world) though both goes unused, there's pointers for similar models for Drake's Horn - likely the Wind Crystal - but they either were never made or deleted. There's an entrance pointer for the Castle Joshua visits in Ash, which suggests it was an explorable dungeon - instead of Joshua and Clive and Gav splitting up with the latter taking on Barnabas while Joshua looks into it alone. There are are models that suggest that at least partially through development the major cities were meant to be explorable rather than just existing as one time dungeons. There are even dialogue options that intimate that at least at some point in the game Dion was to have been a party member - beyond that one boss battle I mean. So who knows where Echos of the Fallen's ideas originally came from.
@@J.G.H. Sounds like they might have had plans for several things that I really disliked. Maybe the ice mother crystal was actually the place where they'd explore Torgal's backstory, rather than just having Tomes tell you.
Sounds like they cut many things that were actually necessary for the story to make sense. /sad

I might be slightly confused on how everything clicks together, but I keep seeing people say cid was wrong about the crystals and the blight and destroying them was a mistake....but....cid WAS right, wasn't he? Just in a slightly round about way because he didn't have all the info and didn't know about ultima. But his overall point still stood - the blight was caused by abuse of magic, which humanity was reliant on thanks to the crystals, which were harvesting all the aether from the world around them....yes ultima WANTED the crystals destroyed so he could be freed and take over Clive, but only because he was too arrogant to believe he could be defeated....the crystals (and ultima) still needed to be destroyed in order to destroy magic, reset the world and overtime reverse the blight (which I just interpreted as the world's life-force - aether - being siphoned off and converted into magic, in a "energy can be neither created or destroyed just converted from one form into another" type of way). Am I misunderstanding something? (It's such a bloody long game😅)
@@scamrasc He turns out to be correct in the end, but he shouldn't be.
- In this DLC they go to this place because it's where the blight began, which makes sense if they're causing it. In the original story we don't see this ever being the case though, which should cause questions from anyone.
- After destroying the first crystal, it is said the blight grows more swiftly than before, which logically would mean Cid was wrong. It would even mean the opposite, the crystals are keeping the land from blighting.
So while the story ends up acting in a way where Cid was correct, during the game the evidence points to the contrary.
I was pretty much shouting at my screen when the characters would constantly talk about how good destroying the crystals is, while they had nothing to go on, but this guy said so and we asked zero critical questions.
Ultima's plan being for them to destroy the crystals was the cherry on top, but then the theory was just correct for no reason, I was very annoyed. Only for this DLC to come out and tell me: "hey, it would really make more sense if it worked the way you thought it should".
Honestly, they could have made it work with some extra dialogue from Cid and without this DLC and by removing the sentence about the blight growing more swiftly. As it stands though, it's a huge gaping hole in plot logic, which made me feel like I was not on board with the plan.
Hypacrates still the most solid character I always look forward to his scenes

The dialog in this game is so generic, who writes this XD
