Shortly after the filing, a federal magistrate judge ordered Ryan Wesley Routh to remain detained pending further proceedings.
A witness told investigators that Routh had dropped off a box at his home months before, which “contained ammunition, a metal pipe, miscellaneous building materials, tools, four phones, and various letters.” After learning of the apparent assassination attempt, the witness opened the box, according to the filing.
The "witness" just held on to this mysterious box without being concerned about what was inside?

This letter was sent months before as a backup, to some friend, family member or sympathizer, in the event he failed. Which he did. It's NOT a suicide note or a manifesto detailing his thoughts and motivations. The only thought he left was "I'm so sorry I failed you." Taken in context of Routh's previous activities, he was primarily acting as a vigilante for justice to save the lives of innocent Ukranian civilians dying in the Russian war on them. The very war he sees Trump giving up on and letting Putin do whatever the hell he wants with. (Trumps own words on the subject months prior around Feb 10, 2024.) The letter is powerful evidence to put Routh away. It shows, premeditation, intent and consciousness of guilt. The Federal prosecutors at the DOJ need this very letter which is EVIDENCE to implicate him. They are doing their job. Remember he's citizen Trump and not elected or in office, so there are challenges to reach the highest level of punishment their aiming for. In the current climate of misinformation and conspiracy theories, this letter serves the public interest through its transparency.

So he wrote a letter detailing not that he was going to fail...but that he already failed. And apologizes and then makes a declaration of a reward for whomever completes the task... Which in itself entails he would have to be around and available to pay the reward as also have the means to do so.
Something does not add up here. Either this is false information..not a real letter..or some other ploy of giving information incorrectly and twisting whatever the actual letter would have said, if such existed.
