🚙😃Stan and Rhonda come to you in real-time to share some exciting news! They have just bought a 5th wheel in Grand Design's new line, Influence. Their model is the Influence 2903RL. Just a little over 34 feet, this gorgeous trailer was rebranded from the Grand Design Solitude S Class 2930RL. Stan and Rhonda have spent many years looking at the Solitude model and absolutely loved the floor plan, but it was always a little out of reach. Come with Stan and Rhonda as they share their raw emotions as they say goodbye to their beloved Grand Design Imagine 2500RL and embark on a new adventure. We are leaving on a 16 day trip to California (Joshua Tree NP and then Sequoia NP and then back to AZ. We will be at Lake Havasu State Park May 5th to the 9th, then back home to Globe, AZ.

Congratulations you guys - this is such a sweet unit - We look forward to seeing it in person one of these days :) We know it was hard to give up the 2500RL, lots of memories in that, but those aren't going anywhere and you now have so many more memories to forge in this new rig (and in more comfort too!) . Nice that they have pre-installed the the solar panels, and you have plenty of time to do the LIFEPO battery conversion later. That dealership looks really nice - great that it is right next to home too. You guys are going to be so happy in with this, and we look forward to seeing your adventures in this new rig when those air!
Hello Bob and Dang, thank you for joining us. We feel really blessed on this new rig. It is bright and airy. Lots more and it’s only 4 feet longer than our 2500RL. The technology has come a long way. We have two 320 watt solar panels and a 2000 watt inverter. We are so excited find out what exactly it all has. It has an onboard WiFi you pay as you go. It will be interesting to see how that works?
@@OverTheHillAdventures Sounds great, am am interested in that WiFi connectivity too - we use startlink now but this sounds like an interesting alternative, it will be fun watching you guys explore all this new tech. When you say 4 ft longer - is that your total length - TV + Trailer, or might it actually be shorter overall or the same because it's a 5th and rides up over the truck a bit more ?

Hello, we certainly appreciate your concerns. We are excited about the Influence 2903RL. It does not have a drop frame. Our Influence is the smallest in the line. Hello Monica, there is frame flex on some of the Grand Designs. However, our friends that had it was taken care of by Grand Design. These frames are not just in Grand Design they are in all brands and made by Lippert. A lot of the scuttlebutt are from folks that don’t even own a Grand Design RV. Then there are those who just are taken advantage of the negativity for more views on their channel.
Some folks overload their trailer beyond its potential. We do not have a drop down frame. I have inspected it and it is solid as a rock. Our last Grand Designs went 33,000 miles without a problem. Some of these folks have legitimate issues. I have faith they are being handled. We have always said on our channels, Get A Professional Inspection before you buy a RV.

One keynote is this new rig is a Rhinobox frame that is designed to be 40% stronger. I have not seen any reports of issues with this design.

Congrats on your new rig! I certainly like your layout as it reminds me of our '23 GD 2670MK; finally, for us, a fireplace! And opposing slides. For us being here in FL and running up & down the east coast, my 5th wheel experience (owned 2) had to change as we go to some rather tight (tree infested) mouton roads and tree strike was (is) our biggest concern. But with our west trip (SD-WY-MT-ID-UT) last September, what a dream to be in "open spaces"! I am green re: auto-leveling feature.... you two will have a blast. And thanks for bringing us all on your "new rig journey!" And a sigh of relief form me -- yo stayed with Grand Design. (We are on our 1st GD.)

@@OverTheHillAdventures I certainly understand (and agree, why we moved up to 2670MK from a 26ft 2014 Coachman Apex). During our 2019 NC trip from FL, we descended from Mt Mitchell (Blue Ridge Parkway) eastward so I could show my wife the outer banks (OBX) on the coast, we "evidently" suffered a nasty sneaky tree strike albeit we were only 9ft tall (Apex rides low). No sign of major damage until water infiltration about the shower dome... by that time, a costly $2200. Ergo my fear , realized! ;)

We have had our 2903 for about two weeks. Absolutely love it. I have to say that we do have a king bed and do not have to lift it to close or open the door.

this today with tears. Our unit was an older cougar fifth wheel and held many good memories , trading it in tomorrow for a new fifth wheel. New memories!

Really enjoyed the video. This is my first time finding your channel and I loved that you covered a lot of great info. We just bought the same influence model and it looks fabulous. You say in your video that you can access the refrigerator while the kitchen slide is closed. Is that correct? We’re having trouble finding info on it. I asked this question here a couple days ago but I can’t find it in your comments.
Hello Susan, congratulations on your purchase of the Influence 2903RL. You can access the refrigerator part when the slide is in. You can’t access the freezer part. I’m sorry you did not get an answer a couple days ago. We answer all our comments. Sometimes there is a glitch and the comment somehow disappears. We hope this helps you. Hello, thank you for joining us! My good friend Scott, is a west coast distributor for MORryde. He has a Reflection 337RL and the same set up. I was impressed by the way he backed up his trailer up our steep driveway. He explained to us how the hitch worked. At the point we were all in. It is very light, small, and you can taking out easily. It has a rating of 24,000 lbs. We took it for 500 mile shake down trip and the hitch did incredible. There was no chucking. It was a solid application. Our video on the hitch comes out today at 4:00pm Phoenix Az time. Hope you will join us! Stan and Rhonda🙏🏼❤️

Congrats. If you already had the B&W Ball, why do you also need the Andersen hitch? I don't know much about them, but I have seen them break. It wasn't a good day for the camper, his truck or the rig.
Very few have broken and they were involved in an accident. The Andersen hit attaches to the B&W Ball. We have a very steep drive and the way the Andersen Ultimate Hitch works is the best for us. It gives great rail clearance. The Goosebox or the Gooseneck doesn’t do that for us. Thank you for joining us! Stan and Rhonda
@OverTheHillAdventures Agreed. The only time I've heard of them failing is in an accident (as you said) and during a sudden emergency stop with a heavy 5er. The shearing force caused the four supports to bend and then buckle. That was only one occurrence that I am aware of, though.
What a beautiful trailer! It is absolutely breathtaking! Y'all looked like kids in a candy store! Compared to the 2500RL, it's a whopper! Interested to see how your truck does with it mileage-wise since we have the same truck as y'all do! We've started looking at shorter 5ers (30 feet and under (you know, the mythical "half-ton towables"), so we're getting the itch to switch, too! We'll have the dealer install any hardware we will need. I'm getting too long in the tooth for that sort of stuff. 😂 We'll be watching for your new adventures with the new rig! Of course, Ms Rhonda has to load it up first! 😊

I know how you feel about selling your trailer. We are putting our Renegade motorhome on the market this week. I keep thinking of all the memories we've had the past 8 years with it. Including our 50th anniversary at the drag strip with lots of family. But we decided we don't use it enough to keep it now. So, with our 58th anniversary coming up in a few months, I'll be without an RV for the first time in 40 years. Enjoy your new rig and keep on keeping on! Have a great time for many years to come!

We went from a 27' 5th wheel to a 26' bumper pull and hated it. It felt like it was 10' longer and 20,000 pounds heavier!! Went back to a 40' 5th wheel and what a huge difference! Much easier to handle too.

Yes a Grand Design Influence a 2024 model they took back to Elkhart Indiana on Monday and they had it for 12 week repair and replace water leaks frame cracks the roof was torn

It's a lovely rig. I hope you did a real walk through testing everything. Making sure you have no leaks and door and drawer close and work properly. Make sure the air conditioners and furnace water heater. Work. Flush the potty, use the sink, and check under for leaks. Happy trails to you!

Oh yes, I know exactly what you’re feeling. Last July we traded our 2506 Mini Lite in on a new 2023 Rockwood 2606ws. We had our Mini for 4 years. “Lucy” found a new family within 4 days of trading her in. It definitely can be emotional.😢

I don’t understand what everybody sees in the Anderson hitch besides being able to remove the hitch, which is huge. I get that ,,but just the back-and-forth trying to get lined up. Is there a better trick with these?
Hi Gary, The back and forth you see in the video is strictly because we are newbies. 😳 It’s a learning curve going from a TT to a fifth wheel, but after a few trips, we are already feeling more confident. It’s truly easier than the TT.

We bought our Rockwood 5th wheel last August and it needed some warranty work. They closed their service department from October till later January with no notice. I won’t be buying another rig from them!
