    Thanks for the great video/tutorial
Where do you stand on the debate of Apple Business Essentials vs solutions like JAMF?
Same question over the 1-2yr period...do you think Apple is a significant threat to JAMF?
    Thanks again

I think Apple Business Essentials is aimed at Small Business like Jamf Now. Jamf Pro is for potentially larger organizations and is full featured. ABE is really for those just getting started to have at least some management in place. I think ABE doesn't so much compete but compliment an under reached market.

    Thanks for the video.
Does ABE allow web site and app blocking? Kinda like parental controls on steroids.

ABE does not but the Apple MDM framework does. Solutions like Jamf, Kandji, Addigy or Mosyle have implemented most if not all the options in this list: support.apple.com/guide/deployment/review-mdm-payloads-dep5370d089/1/web/1.0

How does this affect folks that already have devices with personal Apple ID's on their company owned devices?

    • @RootedConsulting

That's a good question. There are two options. 1.) Federate with Azure or Google. This can bring existing Apple ID's under organizational management. The user sets up a different email domain for the Apple ID can get's to keep all there content. support.apple.com/guide/apple-business-manager/intro-to-federated-authentication-axmb19317543/web
2.) Don't federate. In this event ABE, ASM, ABM won't let you create Apple ID's from existing personal Apple ID's.
As it stands there is not way to restrict someone from using a personal Apple ID vs a Managed Apple ID. If you are making the move to Managed Apple ID that going to be part of your HR strategy and company policy.

Yes, with managed open in you can separate "Managed" for "Unmanaged." www.apple.com/business/docs/resources/Managing_Devices_and_Corporate_Data.pdf

Does ABE really offer syncing of the data between devices (like Dropbox, OneDrive, etc)? Apple's official video & website does not mention it. Thank you!

With Apple Business Essentials you can deploy iOS Apps like OneDrive and Dropbox. In terms of sync it's iCloud. Hope that helps!

Can I use Apple Business Essentials with Intune ?

    • @RootedConsulting
      @RootedConsulting  2 роки тому

Yes and no. The automated enrollment/apps and books piece yes. The MDM side no. Apple devices can only be enrolled in one MDM at a time.

@@RootedConsulting Thank you for the quick reply. I am asking this because I need to manage cloud storage plan on a few devices and I don't know if it is possible with Apple Business Manager... If it is not possible to manage storage plan with ABM + Intune, I will only use ABE then...
