I'm glad Mr. Stewart is raising this issue, but I'm not surprised at Congress. Our government has never respected the people who actually care and give service to our country with their lives. Yet they will continue to suck money from us, whingeing about our safety. We need a new government. We need to replace the current crop of bloodsuckers with something different. We have an amazing Constitution, and I believe in democracy, but I am almighty tired of those who turn these things to greed and gain at the expense of the taxpayers, the real heroes, and the veterans.
"Though the people support the government, the government should not support the people." Grover Cleveland "A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." Dwight D. Eisenhower
+Alex Gu (darkmagician2521) Three documents all argue against those quotes. You may want to read them: The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address. We have the right to rid ourselves of any government that ceases to allow us our freedoms. As far as I know, the first two still stand as the basis of our government. Haven't heard any different...
+Alex Gu (darkmagician2521) You may be right. All our pols are home-grown, which is a genuinely scary thought. We raise them, educate them, and support them into their positions. Maybe we don't need politicians. What would the alternative look like? Mom? Pop? Your brother or mine? Here's an old Latin phrase for you: Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
In a bad or good way? Just because something is corrupt doesn't mean it is a bad thing. There is the Balance of which you can or cannot decide on: Which is worse: Tyranny of the majority or tyranny of the minority? I will leave it up to you.

Its the most predictable way to swat down a policy related to benefits give by the government so I doubt a person with authority will do anything about it with a republican congress.
+steven shar See, but that's the thing, people in power are not going to do anything about it, because they like being in power. It is only up to us, The People to change our countries. Problem is, everyone is too busy, leading their materialistic lives to even stop and think about what our government is doing behind our backs.
He would get my vote if he ran for almost anything. Pres/Gov/Mayor/Lemonade Stand Supervisor. All the other idiots couldn't hand out free cupcakes without f*****g up.
John Stewart is like that guy who quit facebook, and people barely hear from anymore, so any time some news from their life comes up, everyone pays attention. Love that guy.
Ben Wasserman At least the criticism of "he's a tv personality, so we can't take him seriously as a candidate" will be rendered ineffective since we have a reality tv star in office right now.
Whenever someone says, "They MIGHT be in. Let me go check." What they're actually doing is going and asking that person, "Should I tell them you're not here?"
Bob Jimenez Of course their will be exceptions. There have been great people leading the US and serving in its legislation, but the vast majority of them, sadly, were not. And uh... as much of a man of the people as Andrew Jackson was, don't forget about the Native American Genocide.
Fisal Aman +Damian Skyfire Yeah, I didn't get that the first time. It's awesome to see people calling him out on that... it was a horrible move on his part and NBC's...
Jon Stewart is awesome. he has a platform, he uses it, he speaks his mind, he's patriotic and intelligent in a way Fox / republicans just don't understand. i think he's great but have one problem- when he walked circles around O'Reilly on O'Reilly's own show, he didn't admit to having a responsibility, batting the comments off with "we're on after a puppet show" or something similar and "we're on a comedy network"- come on Jon, you're more than just a comedian and i'd have even more respect for you if you admitted it. US TV needs you and shows like the Daily Show to battle Fox etc. And people like Fox and their followers need to understand that criticising the government or the president ISN'T unpatriotic, ISN'T un-American - it is necessary, in a country where you have free speech, like we do here in the UK, to take advantage of that and get across to your audience what you believe, what you want them to hear. if they don't like it, guess what, they have freedom to remain ignorant, they have the freedom to switch channels
As a disabled Combat Veteran it is no surprise they turned their back on the 1st Responders, just as they have done to disabled Veterans from every war. The always 'find the money' for the next overpriced DOD weapons system, whether it works or not, but always have 'difficulties' coming up with the cash to provide fair treatment and support for the Veterans who were disabled in the fight. Time to fill the Senate swimming pool with hot tar and let them do a few laps.
Find a way to pay for it? Never seem to need to do that when it comes to subsides for big multinational corporations or the richest people in the world but these guys have money and lobbyists so I guess they must be the real American heroes not 9/11 first responders who served their country, for little financial reward, and are now paying the price for doing so. Currently, in America, you are rewarded for being morally bankrupt and acting purely selfishly, if you choose to serve your country you are severely punished.
I think that's why people like Jon Stewart are not politicians. Sure, they also love being entertainers, but they get rewarded for being famous and use that fame to serve their country in their own way.
That's the general idea. See, morally bankrupt people tend to be greedy...so greedy that they exploit capitalism so thoroughly that other people can actually profit from doing business with them. Then, it reinforces the varying logical fallacies that prosperous people are better...and poor people are scum. Added to which, people who are selfless tend to break rules from time to time...and that threatens the morally bankrupt because they themselves might be targets one day. So they work hard to make sure people are dis-incentivized from doing the right thing because it cuts into profits and reinforces the idea that there's more to life than money.
Reasons why capitalism doesn't work. Sure the alternatives don't look that good either, but I hate when people act like Capitalism is the be all end all of economic process. It's not.
+Bobby Lean It's a great idea and I would vote for him but the job is mentally, spiritually, and emotionally draining. Jon Stewart is retired, it would be too much stress for him. It's a great time for him to live off the fruits of his labor. I think it's great that Jon went out of his way to do this for veterans. I think this is the best way Jon Stewart can influence politics. The system is corrupted. Every government system has been tainted in the past and continues today. A lot of people try to enter the system to try and change it but not only fail miserably, but it also has an impact on their personal lives as well. I wouldn't want Jon Stewart to suffer. Don't get me wrong I admire honest people within our government to try to do the right thing but a lot of them end up failing. With the influence Jon Stewart has on public opinion, I believe that calling BS, hypocrisy, and shaming government through his media platform is the best way possible. On top of all that he does it with class as well.
+Bobby Lean The thing about Stewart is that his forte is not presidential stuff, like foreign policy and economics, his specialty is calling out the nonsense of politicians. I love Stewart, but he is better at managing the war on bullshit rather than the war on terror.
Keep fighting, Jon! Thank you for seeing this through and using your platform for the betterment of all heros who selflessly stepped up to fight for this country the moment the attack happened. It's now June 2019 and you're still out there keeping them alive through advocacy and with your own money no less!
The "you're not from around here" bit was hilarious and incredibly sad at the same time. Jon Stewart is a God and I wish that he was running for President. I still get chills when he yelled at Congress. "These guys did their job... DO YOURS!"
Nobody can mock Congress as well as Jon Stewart (John Oliver or Stephen Colbert are both very good, but Jon will always be the best). I wish Jon would continue his show (and probably shave off his beard as well). Obviously, he won't be the host of the Daily Show again (unless there's a special episode), but I think Jon will be on as a correspondent once in a while. On Jon's last episode of the Daily Show, I was expecting either John Oliver or Stephen Colbert to take over (probably would have been Stephen, but he got moved to the Late Show on CBS). I think Trevor Noah is doing a decent job, but to me he isn't funny at all (it seems like he is trying too hard with his jokes and since he doesn't have too many good jokes he tries to push them for as long as possible...)
Noah is just presenting the Jokes. I dont think they changed all writers when Stewart left. I think Trevor is very funny and talented but he hast to find his own way of leading through this show. Keep in mind that Stewart had over 10 years to optimize his performance and build up a legacy.
+Bliefking Actually the former head writer Elliott Kalan (the guy who did the reception speech for the writing award at the Emmy) left the show at approximately the same time as Jon's departure. They still have most of the writers staying with the program but this Elliott guy is definitely a great loss to the writing process.
+K Patel What a load of crap. Jon Steward wanted to ambush the Congressmen and their aides protected them from the ambush. Perfectly legit. Mind you, I am not speaking about the issue itself since I don't know much about it. I am pointing out that Jon is full of shit in implying that the Congressmen should willingly get ambushed. Jon is playing to the cameras, why should the Congressmen indulge him?
+John Smith IF CONGRESS DID THEIR BLOODY JOBS THEN JON STEWART WOULDN'T BE MAKING FUN OF THEM!!! Most of the time they sit around and get paid and the rest of the time they have been having meaningless, idiotic debates about things that shouldn't even be controversial...
LittleRockElevators That is immaterial. My point is that you can hardly expect people to cooperate in their own ambush. What idiot will willingly go to the slaughter when he knows damn well it is an ambush?
I would love to see Jon Stewart and the new Daily Show team up to fight political bullshit like this. As Jon pointed out, he's unemployed and really doesn't have anything to do. But he still has a lot of power in politics and a lot of name recognition. Why not have him, every few months, attach himself to bullshit like this and then storm around Washington DC demanding change, face to face with all these politicians he knows from his tenure with the show, using appearances on the Daily Show to get popular support for his quests? It'd be good for America, it'd be good for the show, and it'd be good for regular people suffering and dying because of partisan bullshit.
It’s honorable that he was fighting for first responders 3 years ago and see him speak to congress yesterday for the same cause. Then again shameful for our government that a comedian has better morals than congress in 2019.
3 years later after this was release.... today, Congress and the 9/11 first responders finally met... Well, only 3 people in Congress, and sadly it was not extended indefinitely. Let it be known that Congress has forgotten of the people.

Before they decided to demolish those 3 buildings that were full of Asbestos, I'm sure the costs of Asbestos removal was done and it was going to cheaper for Haliburton to allow unknowing public servants do the clean up vs. doing it the right way. As a former Hazmat removal worker in the 90's, we were taught that signs of Asbestosis and Mesothelioma take at least 10 years to show their signs. Convenient 5 years. It's the same with being declared a survivor of Cancer in this country. The industry lowers it to 5 years because studies show that after 5 years most survivors are going to have a relapse and be dead before year 10.

@@videohound2005 Don't be silly. They just don't want to lose votes or sponsors. That's why they set up the cheeto as a distraction.
And he still had to go to Congress and ask people "why the hell aren't we taking care of these people"
So since leaving the show has Jon Stewart been going around advocating for policies ? I would really like for him to be president one day :3
Not going to happen. Jon Stewart, unlike Trump, actually knows he doesn't have the qualifications to run a country.
Who knows who the american gonna vote for next ?
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mr. T or maybe even Jon Stewart with Stephan Colbert as VP.
Jenna, why do you hate Jon Stewart so much?
Okay, that's not being fair.
Trump knows he isn't qualified to be president, he just doesn't give a shit.
1 FKT how does she hate Jon?
Has anyone noticed the one thing they'll jump into without worrying about funding is war?
War and tax cuts.
The only thing REPUBLICONS will jump into without worrying about funding is war and tax cuts.
That's because they make money from war. They don't make any money from caring about the people they should care about.
And tax cuts for the super rich.
Damn I miss that bastard
+Micah Hacim me too. he's a master of displaying hypocrisy and outrage.
But have you ever Reaaally looked at a $20 bill
+DAN V. On weed lol
+DAN V. Is there a man hiding in the bushes, I DON'T KNOW!! Red team go!, Red team go!!
+Micah Hacim He looks like a homeless guy now and I fucking LOVE it
So whenever congress does something to that piss Jon Stewart off, he will come back to the daily show to rant? I'm down with this idea.
Lol he should be on every night then
Tip of the hat to you Mr. Jon Stewart. Respect!
And a wag of the finger to Congress.
Brandon Veach yes
I'm glad Mr. Stewart is raising this issue, but I'm not surprised at Congress. Our government has never respected the people who actually care and give service to our country with their lives. Yet they will continue to suck money from us, whingeing about our safety. We need a new government. We need to replace the current crop of bloodsuckers with something different. We have an amazing Constitution, and I believe in democracy, but I am almighty tired of those who turn these things to greed and gain at the expense of the taxpayers, the real heroes, and the veterans.
"Though the people support the government, the government should not support the people." Grover Cleveland
"A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." Dwight D.
For all you know, the new guard wouldn't be that different from their predecessors. Here is an old Latin phrase for you:
"Who watches the watchers/"

It's certainly not incorrect to have the comma.
"I dont know if you know but im unemployed now so i have time to wait"
"I don't really have life anymore"
I find Jon Stewart attractive
I think the majority of human people do.
YouJustGotAnimated Human people... do you mean kids??
emphasis on 'human'.
me too
jillhbaudhaan Me too I bet you if there was a Jon Stewart Calendar Both sexes would be masturbating to it 😂😂😂 lol
Dude has an $80 million net worth - and this is how he chooses to spend his time. Sincere props, Jon.
this is the weirdest combination of laughter and rage i have ever felt
How the fuck is this not a crime? These congressmen should be in prison for not upholding their promises. How can they be so fucking heartless, to not help these true American heroes? This is one of the things I hate about America, ignore the true heroes of the country and imprison and kill the innocent. Shame on you senators, shame on you.
because no one is going to do anything about it.
+Salvador Suazo No, it's not no one is willing to do anything about it. It's no one in power is willing to so anything about it unless there is someone telling them to do so.
+steven shar Problem with that is this bill will likely fall into the hands of the "poor people are poor because they are lazy" narrative by framing first respondents as lazy people who are unwilling to get a job after 14 years.
+steven shar Welcome to the United Snakes. Land of the thief, home of the slave. The grand imperial guard where the dollar is sacred and power is god.
Jon please run for President in 2020. PLEASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE. Love you Noah.
Jon Stewart for Congress 🙏🗽🇺🇸👍
He would get my vote if he ran for almost anything. Pres/Gov/Mayor/Lemonade Stand Supervisor. All the other idiots couldn't hand out free cupcakes without f*****g up.

John Stewart is like that guy who quit facebook, and people barely hear from anymore, so any time some news from their life comes up, everyone pays attention. Love that guy.
Jon Stewart for president 2020. Provided the apocalypse hasn't happened yet.
Sorry, it just has
apocalypse was avoided with glorious mr trump
***** Until he hits the big red button due to a tweet made against him. Which could very well happen
LMAO...At the apocalypse part only.
Ben Wasserman At least the criticism of "he's a tv personality, so we can't take him seriously as a candidate" will be rendered ineffective since we have a reality tv star in office right now.
God bless that terrific homeless looking man
And we here today. Thank you! note today's date thank you John for speaking up making this a priority again
jon stewart is one of the few honorable social figures left
The way he called Jon " Papa" LOOOOOL
Trevor Noah is a worthy successor.
Mankeerat Singh I highly agree with you.
As the replacement...i agree. Wish Jon would come back tho.
Mankeerat Singh and what r u gonna say now again? The guy is flying

not my book Jefferson and jackson
Bob Jimenez Of course their will be exceptions. There have been great people leading the US and serving in its legislation, but the vast majority of them, sadly, were not.
And uh... as much of a man of the people as Andrew Jackson was, don't forget about the Native American Genocide.
roadhouse699 Andrew Jackson was a terrible president
Twoface 99 he really was.
Dat Leno diss tho.
+Damian Skyfire What part? I didn't catch that...
john fru Where Trevor mentions hearing about old American talkshow hosts coming back to reclaim their shows after letting someone else take over.
+john fru
"Oh man, I heard about this on American TV, are you taking the show back?"
The only name that comes to mind is Jay Leno, see?
Fisal Aman +Damian Skyfire Yeah, I didn't get that the first time. It's awesome to see people calling him out on that... it was a horrible move on his part and NBC's...
ha ha good catch
Toby B 💯💯
Trevor: Papa?
John: Some people call me Daddy.
Trevor: What
John: What
They passed a 75 year extension to the Zadroga Act!
Congratulations, Jon and all First responders. The Zadroga Act just passed. WOW
Love it! Thanks Daily Show😀
This video is AWESOME! I love Trevor, but I do miss John. Good to see him.
"Is it acoustics?"
I love you, Jon Stewart.
That kid at the end was happier to be Mitch McConnell than Mitch McConnell has ever been to be Mitch McConnell.
I agree Semper Fi !
I just wish that one day, he would finally call him "Pappa Jon's"
All we all here after it's announced he's coming back?
It's not.
Wafflerofl No economic system could ever be perfect. However, I think Japan's system works best, personally.
George Daugherty the country with insane amounts of suicide sure
why doesn't John Stewart run for president? he would win.
That burn on Leno!! lmao
"Papa!"😂😂😂
Anyone here after Jon's courage at C-SPAN
The "you're not from around here" bit was hilarious and incredibly sad at the same time. Jon Stewart is a God and I wish that he was running for President. I still get chills when he yelled at Congress. "These guys did their job... DO YOURS!"
Papa? Hahaha
They finally passed that bill, 5 years after they dropped it.
Especially recently Papa is taking care of us! Thank you John!
They have so much chemistry in this bit, it’s very good.
Jon looks like a silver Fox with the beard and his hair slicked back.
"Papa???"
Why am I laughing so hard 😭
"Papa?" Lol
"Oh shit are you here to take the show back?" Lmao
"But that doesn't make sense Jon stewart!?" I died!
I wish he'd take the show back...the Daily Show has become as dead as MTV....
@@mercurialpierrot7073 for you maybe.
He was gracious enough to give this to one of our own as Africans. We are always grateful to Jon Stewart.
Jon Stewart You Rock!
3 years later after this was release.... today, Congress and the 9/11 first responders finally met... Well, only 3 people in Congress, and sadly it was not extended indefinitely. Let it be known that Congress has forgotten of the people.
Shame and humor (through mockery) is the key...
I have never heard an applause as big and long as that one since the glass shattering to signal the RATTLESNAKE'S RETURN! *kssshhh* duh nun DUH NUN duh nun DUH NUN

Thank you John, for advocating and fighting for these people
Papa!!!!!
Papa!?!?!?!?
Hey, sorry Jon, just seeing this, BUT GREAT JOB!!! Shame worked. So happy that you came back to provide for and save our first responders. Much Respect!!!
We need more celebrities, like Jon Stewart, to go to congress in their spare time just to shame them into acting like human beings.

Really miss Jon Stewart. The guy is a satire genius. He needs to return to the front line of comedy. His kind of thinking and attitude is needed now more than ever....
Got here from a recommendation after watching Jon Stewart tell congress that they should be ashamed of themselves. Worth it!
2024 here. The man is a true satirist and lover of the American audience, he rides to the rescue on Mondays.
Bless you Jon Stewart I loved this piece and hope our 1st responders are given exactly what they need.
