The Yamaha outboard powerhead removal process starts by disconnecting the battery. Then we’ll work on removing and/or disconnecting the fuel and electrical systems. Our outboard is on a stand, but if yours is still installed on your boat, you’ll need to also disconnect the fuel line. With that out of the way, we’ll remove the outer covers and attack the powerhead mounting bolts.
Once unbolted, we’ll lift the powerhead off of the upper casing.

Hi, I bought two 2003 Yamaha 200hp motors I was told one had small corrosion on the exhaust, called a local mechanic shop and they stated if the corrosion got to the power head the motor was done for. My question is how do I know if the power head is damaged by corrosion? Is it true you can’t put it back together if there is corrosion in the power head ?
