i honestly relate with you thinking the facials have made your skin worse. i went on a facial spree and it made my skin 10x worse and now i can't even leave the house without concealer on. acne is so normal and i wish more people showed it so that we don't feel the need to cover it but you're not alone maggie

I dealt with hormonal acne for almost 3 years and it sucked I'm so glad to see influencers like you be so open about it! Spironolactone, tretinoin, and clindamycin changed my life - I also switched birth controls and noticed a HUGE difference. It took about 3 months to see a difference - be patient :)) You're not alone

I went through the same exact situation with my acne. I started out with the best skin and then I went vegan for 2 years and had the worst cystic acne. I tried everything under the sun before trying medicine (fixing my diet, taking supplements, facials, etc) and ended up going on accutane. It made me so sad that I couldn’t fix it myself, but accutane was the literal best thing I’ve done for myself. The only side effect I went through was extreme dryness. Just know you’re not alone and I know it’s hard to think about now while going through it, but acne doesn’t define you

I had such similar skin issues to yours. When I hit 28, I finally just took accutane. I wish I would have done it sooner after trying EVERYTHING but looking back I was just doing too much (because I was desperate). The more you think about it, the worse it gets, I swear! Thanks for keeping it real.

Babe, i tried everything when i had stubborn hormonal acne. The only thing to this day to help my acne stay away for over 4-5 years has been going on accutane. Everyone has different experiences and people try to scare others out of doing it but not everyone has a bad experience, i had a great experience being on accutane. So great, i’d take it again if i ever needed to. It was my last resort, i tried topicals, antibiotics, natural remedies & nothing.
Sometimes products, diets, facials, even just going on BC doesn’t help.

I was struggling with breakouts randomly & appreciate you talking about acne because it’s so relatable. I just found out I have celiac disease which means I have to cut out gluten. After doing my own research it’s crazy how much it affects your gut health & you don’t absorb nutrients esp if you don’t know u have it & continue eating gluten. So despite me eating well for my skin nothing helped because of my body not being able to absorb it. If you haven’t checked maybe you can get that checked! ❤❤ I am now healing my gut & body so that it can properly absorb all the good things I put in my body & clear my skin!

I love that your honestly about your skin. I struggled with hormonal acne on and off for years. I’ve tried everything from accutane to holistic measures like acupuncture. Sadly when your “in it” you feel so alone and it seems like literally everyone has clear skin. The best thing for me was seeing a dermatologist and getting on some less harsh medications compared to accutane. Panoxyl is a really great cleanser and I stick to cerave moisturizer. I spent so much money trying fancy products but they had so much crap in them and always didn’t help. There’s no problem in having to resort to medications as it might just be what your body needs 💙🦋

I struggled with hormonal acne and took the lowest dose of acutane for 6 months and it’s was the best thing I ever did. The only negative symptom I had was dry lips! I also took it during the winter that way I didn’t have to worry about sun exposure because acutane does make it super sensitive to the sun:( but overall I’m so happy I took it and 7 years later my skin has never gone back. I only get a few pimples here and there during my period but it has stayed healthy and clear since I stopped acutane. Acne can be so debilitating and it’s such a normal thing we all going through so I appreciate your transparency and it really means a lot🥰🥰

My skin used to be so bad and I tried the holistic approach but it unfortunately doesn’t work when it comes to regulating whatever is going on. I seriously recommend going on spironolactone. It’s not an acne medication it’s actually a blood pressure medication but it regulates your hormones and clears your skin. If you’re not comfortable going on a medication they just came out with a topical version called Winlevi. I also threw out all my really expensive skincare and 1000 step routine and brought it back to the basics. I use panoxyl 10% face wash, a vitamin c serum, tret, and La roche posay moisturizer.
Everyone’s skin is different but I think the reality is some people just need medication to fix these problems and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that! Sending love 💓

Hi Maggie! Figured i'd share. Sometimes hormonal acne is as a result of some underlying issue( this was my case). Probably have an extensive gyno visit to assess hormones, uterus etc. Also what worked for me was Panoxyl foam cleanser! $20 bucks at target. It has benzoyl peroxide which is great for acne. Completely got rid of my hormonal acne. Good luck!

I'm sure the last thing you want to hear is that your skin doesn't look bad, but it doesn't. The parts that are clear are actually porcelain-glowy, like a doll. I'm not a doctor, or a dermatologist, but I'm 47 years old (yikes!) and have had lots of skin issues over the years. The more I washed it, thought about it, hyper-focused on cleanliness, in general, and got stuff done to it, the worse it got. Not washing it excessively and just letting it be is what ended up working for me, but I know it's different for everyone. I hope you find what works for you.

Winlevi or spironolactone both target cystic acne and worked for me when nothing else did!! I truly believe acne is usually caused by hormone imbalance. Also spearmint tea helped me as well because it balances your hormones! My dermatologist recommended I drink it every morning and night and I saw a big improvement. It will get better ❤

I know you prefer holistically, but if you are open to trying an internal medication, I would highly highly recommend trying Spironolactone and bringing it up to your Derm in your upcoming appt! I did accutane twice and my skin was great for a while, but I had a trigger with hormones/stress/adult acne and Spironolactone saved my skin. It’s recommended to take in conjunction with birth control as it is a dynamic duo basically (my derm mentioned this). I feel for you because I literally felt so defeated. Hope this helps❤

I understand the frustration of having adult acne. My adult acne journey is getting better but it’s taken months of using the prescribed treatments from my dermatologist. And don’t stop if you start breaking out again at first, just keep using it even if it feels wrong. I hope the derm can help, it’ll take a lot of patience and consistency
I thought you were using the MASK face cleanser and other products you’ve shown on your channel. While I didn’t comment anything, we have seen you use or at least show other skincare products on UA-cam. I thought it was just part of the job, and it’s fun to try new things that might work.

Lather in your hands dial gold bar soap, apply a few drops of tea tree oil and a few drops of vitamin E. Lather it up, wash your face with it. Rinse. Then use a good clean moisturizer. Game changer. I promise you will see a huge difference. I really hope it works for you. ❤❤ having skin troubles is so uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing. But there is hope. Please please try it.

Hii you need to stop paying attention to your skin. Whatever you put energy and attention on is going to become bigger. The day I stopped worrying and obsessing about my skin was the day my acne began to disappear. Now I have clear skin and whenever a breakout appears I just ignore it and have a deeper knowing that the less attention I put on it, the faster it’ll go away. I know it’s easier said than done but it’s a practice, you wake up, do your normal skincare routine and then you FORGET about your skin for the rest of the day. Also, the simpler your skincare routine, the better. Hope it helps ❤

I know it’s not for everyone and can seem kind of scary but accutane was the best thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t have horrible acne but it was persistent over most of my teen years and early twenties. I was so against it at first but would not change a thing now that I’ve done it. In Australia I believe the dosage is lower and they don’t put you on more than 40mg a day so wouldn’t recommend a dosage higher than that. But absolutely something worth considering!!! 🧡

I deal with bad hormonal acne! I went on birth control at 19 because my periods were so bad and didn’t have too bad of acne in high school luckily because I played water polo and chlorine killed everything lol. I really didn’t have bad acne but decided last year to go off birth control and I went off of it for a year and dealt with horrible cystic acne and bad periods. I finally went back on bc and it’s made my hormones so up and down and I’m so depressed so I might go back off of it which is frustrating because it means bad skin. I understand the struggle and it’s hard when it’s hormonal and hereditary

maggie i used to have the same skin, or even worse, and i never tried or trusted commercial skincare brands so i went to a good dermatologist. the doctor recommended me to do chemical peeling, after 2 weeks i saw results, my active acnes were dry and all my scars started peeling and after a few more times of peeling my skin was clear. ofc u have to use the creams that the doctor recommended bcos it will speed up the peeling process, ur skins gonna feel hot obv bcos its peeling, but that's the only way to make the scars and acne dry and gone! trust me go to dermatologist and ask for chemical peeling! they have diff levels of peeling depending on ur skin condition, so don't worry if this is ur first time! do the peeling every 2 weeks, and use the night cream regime, consistency is key and u will see results! hope this helps peeling changed MY LIFE

I think your acne is hormonal acne. My sister and I both experienced terrible acne in our early mid twenties. Nothing would fix it and we never had acne in the past. I finally saw a dermatologist and she said it was probably hormones and gave me spironolactone which worked wonders. I haven’t had breakouts since. Obviously, everyone is different. One sign of hormonal acne is all the breakouts being below the eyes. That’s what my dermatologist told me.

I feel u with the acne I can relate rn it fucking sucks feeling like I have to put on concealer to cover these red dots on my face to go out in public or do anything and then it feels ick to put makeup on ur pimples, I recently started seeing a lady who specializes in acne extractions and so I went to that it is so painful wow but she told me not to use moisturizer bc I have oily skin and moisture is water so something abt u don’t need it and she said just wash ur face and use toner and at night she gave me a cbd serum bc ut calms inflammation and says to put some type of drying lotion to dry up your pimples. Sunscreen is ok and vitamin c serum is always good (I do in the morning sometimes not everyday) it repairs ur skin and I’m keep seeing her every 3 weeks to a month idk I’ll update u but I just wanted to make u feel better about struggling atm cause I can relate it’s not even like bad acne either like I know so many people have it worse but it’s hard and the more u talk about it it just makes it worse I feel like idk. I’ll update u but honestly it just takes time . wow I wrote a paragraph . Love u♥️♥️♥️♥️

Maggie you’re doing too much to your skin. You’re continuously introducing new products to your routine. Take it easy don’t do anything other than moisturizer for a month and you will see a significant improvement. No vitamin C no, I said no serums nothing.. your skin has been over sensitized in your skin barrier is compromised.

Facials do make your skin worse! Dermatologists have said this. You need to just see a derm and stop trusting these “estheticians and facialists” go to someone with a medical degree who actually studied this
