Agree 100% Bikers aged, and as a group started chasing comfort and trends, but bikes like this are why we rode back in the day. This bike is the culmination of all those great bikes from the 80s and 90s. I am 64 and I have two sportbikes and two streetfighters in the garage; I refuse to go into my twilight on an ADV; rock and roll to the end 🙂
I’m 50 and three of my 5 bikes are sportbikes., a GSXR1000k5, an R1M, and an EBR1190RS Carbon Edition….. and I’m pretty much done buying any more of them. I still like riding the GSXR, and the EBR, being a street legal AMA superbike is amazing to ride but not something to spend a weekend riding. The R1M is so far out of it’s element on the street that you have to ride it so fast on a public road that the thought of crashing it is frankly, terrifying. It makes no midrange power like the K5 or EBR has so you end up winding the tits out of it…. On a bike with a 106mph first gear… there are no small mistakes on a bike like that. A few of my riding buddies got supernakeds and they were pretty cool but it wasn’t until I met my wife and she replaced her BMW with a Street Triple that I really understood that superbikes really aren’t fun on the road anymore. I hurt after riding my bikes and I Don’t after 4 hours in the saddle on her Triumph. I I get a fuel light at less than 100 miles on the yamaha, and 1800 miles on a set of tires… her Triumph will almost do our entire 160 mile loop on a fill up and the tires last 7k miles…. And I can go almost as fast as I want on it-it’s only the 120mph+ sweepers that I wish it had a little more, but I can lead our riding group of very fast guys and not hold anyone up. So now I’m shopping for a super naked. You should try one.
I’m 54 years old and still riding sports bikes. I’ve got a couple of GSXR 1000’s. I pray to God every night that I don’t wake up and want an adventure bike!! 😂
I love that you don’t just parrot what all the other bike reviewers say. Your reviews are always thoughtful and in depth with your own spin on things. My favorite motorcycle reviewer on UA-cam!
Fantastic video! Reinforces why I’m riding the ZX10R and always will. Such a well mannered beast. I like your idea of bringing the excitement of the sportbike back
4:44 perfect timing for the “lycra clad cyclist climbing up the hill” to enter the shot 😂. Another great review … and how about those clear smooth roads 👌🏻
Oh the irony, a middle aged man wearing half a cow leaning over like hes in a race. Works both ways mate. I love both by the way. Two wheel people need to respect each other.
Kawazaki is to be congratulated for the technological power it possesses, it is one of the few brands that is not only interested in producing only "big road trail bikes".Is a brand that continues to produce motorbikes that leave you with a smile on your face after riding them, and that deserves respect, Kawazaki does not bow to the fashions of the moment. I am a happy owner of a 2021 Ninja 1000 SX, which, in relation to a ZX-10, is a better road bike, the engine is fuller at medium and low engine speeds and it has a "sporty comfortable" riding position, but it is still a very agile bike, with that Ninja front end full of feedback. Congratulations on the test of the green ZX-10R, I am a fan of yours, I enjoyed seeing a green being tested on the roads of my country.
I always got fed up of people telling me that riding riding sports bikes is pointless because you can't access all of the performance on the road. I love how you put it here. Better words than i could find
Amen Chris well said. I've tried living like a grown up these past 2 years without a superbike in my life. Figured between my 690 enduro supermoto and superduke gt that itch would be scratched, but it isn't. There is something special about riding a super bike that just can't be replicated with anything else
I am extremely fortunate to own a ZX10R. Although it is a 2018 I ride it often and it puts a smile on my face every single time. I am also incredibly fortunate enough to live 20 minutes from the local race track and now that I've "discovered" track days my bike gets to occasionally run free where is was meant to be. Thanks and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍 Randy
I recently bought a 1998 ZX-9R, its in incredible condition, and its my first ninja. What a well mannered missile it is. The power delivery is so smooth, the handling is wonderful, even by todays standards. Mine has braided hoses and has been dynojetted, and after just 100 miles on it its totally won me over. My daily is an MT-10, and its a practical beast with lots of character, but I agree with you Chris, bring back superbikes.
I lived in the Algarve for 7 years and the Portuguese drivers are some of the most biker friendly drivers about. Great roads, just got to watch out for loose stuff like sand, mud and gravel. It can be anywhere.
I love my 09 ZX10R. I love the way the '23 looks. My goal is get a '23 KRT (like in the video) for occasional street/track and make the 09 a dedicated (but well sorted) track bike
Been on sport bikes since 76 and still have the 76-Z1 in the garage. Been on the ZX14R since 2017 and still have the need for speed in the corners. For some of us we never gave up on the street sweeping, welcome back
Great piece Chris , nothing like riding a sports bike on the road . I’m 55 and have had all different types of bikes over the years and enjoyed them. But the pull back to sports bikes is still there, I’ll keep riding them for as long as possible.
Please, please come to Germany and experience the B14!!!In the summer after 3pm and at weekends this road is filled with superbikes, and sports bikes of all kinds going up and down this wonderful curvy 11.8km road with some of the best corners I've ever experienced. I live a stone's throw away from the garage where all the bikers meet up before attacking this amazing road and if I'm not riding my zx14, I can hear the glorious sounds of those R1, V4s exhaust notes whinnied up as they ascend and descend the valley road. It's a road that really makes you feel on top of the world!!! its a road that would suit the ZX-10R no doubt!!
Nice vid & decent real world impression of a really good, dare I say underrated bike. It's definitely grown on me, especially this latest version. I've always thought it an odd criticism that having all it's power up top is a disadvantage for the road. Low down torque is great but if you're buying an i4 1000 for low down grunt you've missed the point & the ZX10R's still not slow. Plus having to work the engine just a little bit is part of the fun of an i4 engine surely. It also makes it very manageable & unintimidating on the road at legal speeds too. Which is seemingly seen as an advantage of the BMW S1000RR. Some may say it's a boring engine characteristic but 200+bhp from 2000rpm just isn't practical or useable on the road so seems a bit redundant to me personally.
I had a 2012 ZX10r back about 8 or 9 years ago …. It was fantastic, more than fast enough but also very comfortable & useable … it is one of the few bikes I wish I had kept, I still check the ads to see if a very low miles minter comes up for sensible money so I can have one again, great super bike for riding anytime
Excellent review, and I'm not just saying that because I quite literally just purchased mine! I am picking it up next week and going to get the basic mods done pretty soon (no rush here since it's actively snowing). I have a ZX6 that I am going to use as a track bike and this as my fun daily.
Bough my first Ninja in 2021. It was a 21 zx6-R. It was nice but just didn't have that feel I was looking for. A month ago on Nov 1st 2023, I bought the new ZX10-R, the green one just like the one you have in this video & it was the perfect bike I was looking for. I couldn't be happier. Best bike I've ever bought.
Great review! So many saying sports bikes are are no good on road, I’m 58 and just got a 2022 BMW S1000RR and it’s a fantastic road bike. I owned 80s and 90s sports bikes then an adventure bike then a naked so glad I’m back on a sports bike great brakes handling tech and so easy to ride👍
Great review, as always. I bought a Z H2 after my modded ZX14R. I eyed the black/grey ZX10R in the corner, I'm 61 with a crappy right hip, so I opted for the more "sensible" naked 😄. I enjoy the naked, but miss the fairings. At 120+, it's unpleasant for long. I think I may visit the stealership, having watched your review. Maybe there's an unsold '23?
Can anyone tell me what the difference is with the performance model besides the Akrapovic and the rear seat cover? The performance makes the same power as the base model so I don't get it, I'd appreciate any enlightening
Such a shame you guys can’t ride tuned bikes with full systems anymore 😢. Give this a tune a decent suspension and they are sooo much better in the mid range and absolutely awesome top end. Good video bud 👍
Couldn’t agree more.. sports bikes have the best riding position.. no wind blast or buffeting (adventure bikes) look beautifully in a way a naked can’t. If I could squeeze another bike into my life it would be an 08 blade, k5 gixxer or underrated 09 zx10. Thanks for keeping the sport bike torch burning bright 😊
what's the maintenace cost like for this model? i am led to believe that most japanese bikes aren't that expensive to maintain compared to european models.

Brilliant video Chris, Total agree with your views on superbikes. Funny I am just thinking of getting a V Twin panigale not sure which CC yet . As my wife says red and two wheels.
I think you make a great point that a lot of people miss. At the low end its a 600, in the middle its a 750 and at the top its nuts. You don't usually run out of engine on a big sportsbike. You do regularly on a 600 and sometimes on a 750 but its rare on a thou. One thing I would love to know though - where do they get the prices from? Over a 50% increase in prices in just a few years is pretty greedy.
I've went from Zx6r to R1 to RSV4 and now on a powerful Multistrada which I love. I don't mind aging because motorcycles of today are pure dream fuel! I'm gonna buy a panigale or another RSV4 soon though 😅
Hell yeah! Well said! I’m still that guy. I still ride nothing but true sport bikes. They are the best bikes on the planet . And nobody can tel me different . And nope I’m not talking about a faired mt-07 made to look like a supersport. I’ll take either one of my R6 over that thing

@@rodrigosimoes185 Italian is a lot easier as is Spanish. Portuguese is the most difficult one of the Romance languages. Great review as always. I totally agree about keeping the sports bikes alive. I’m going to be testing a new S1000RR weather improves a bit. At the moment I am loving my CBR600 and ZZR1400, I just wonder if the S1000RR would be best of both worlds.

Also the best-looking super bike.
61yo this year still have a gsxr1000 and 848 to go carve apexes - never give up those sports bikes - never!
Nice! I think the old model looked better, and seemed a better spec ( SEmodel had electric suspension)
Those roads look like the central coast of California. Great review.
Nothing beats Portuguese Winter weather last few weeks :)
I would move to Portugal tomorrow if Portuguese wasn't such a difficult language to learn. 😉
@@WolfgangVonKempelen838 I learned it as a baby, so it's not that difficult 🤪 italian (my guess from your name) it's not easy also
@@rodrigosimoes185 Italian is a lot easier as is Spanish. Portuguese is the most difficult one of the Romance languages. I work with a few Brazilian guys and they say that they do not have a problem understanding Italian, Spanish. French a bit more difficult but the opposite is not so evident, so they say. My ancestry on my dad side is Italian, I understand and speak only a very little Italian I'm afraid, my French is pretty good though ;)
@@WolfgangVonKempelen838 in that case, here are a few must have words (that you will not find on a translator) for holidays in Portugal: wheelie = cavalo, stoppie = égua, saúde = cheers, gota = gas, fino/imperial = small pressure beer. Tell me the same in your language?
@@rodrigosimoes185 I can not, you are too clever fella. I just love riding bikes, that I can say ;)
My first bike zx4rr. My second zx10rr. Soon
Going to Portugal to shot this video says it all, I love sports bikes but in the UK there is just no point anymore maybe I need to move to Portugal lol

Prefer the look of the old model. Great review.
Great review as always. I totally agree about keeping the sports bikes alive. I’m going to be testing a new S1000RR weather improves a bit. At the moment I am loving my CBR600 and ZZR1400, I just wonder if the S1000RR would be best of both worlds.
Do it! 😉
It is the best sports touring option of the bunch. Not quite as comfortable as the pre-2019’s were, but still great and incredibly refined.
Bmw has no soul. 😊
I had a 2021 s1000rr what broke at 1700 miles I ended up returning it and getting my money back . I’m now on a 2018 zx10r much better quality
You were in my country!😊👌🏽
Here here Chris😂👍🏽
