Angelina paints emotions with her voice. She appears to have a natural empathic ability to feel a song in her soul, she has the incredible vocal sensitivity and dexterity to translate what she feels into sounds carried across the air, we hear them and they penetrate into our soul and cause us to feel what she feels … (or maybe sometimes what the original performer felt).

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂
LOL, that “Dude”, on the piano, has three Grammys. He’s also the Director of the Republic Records Studio in Los Angeles. He’s very well known in the music industry, his name Is Rob Christie, and he’s taken Angelina under his wings and managing Angelina’s introduction to main-stream America according to her family’s wishes who’s been taking it slowly. Angelina is still 16 as of Jan 10th this year (2023) when she turns 17. I hear she’ll be released to the world when she graduates from High School.
Everything about this video is just amazing. The visuals are beautiful: she comes in uncovering beautiful pieces of the past including a little cloud of dust. Her cousins and sister dressed in white giving me the impression of Angelina growing up. Than there is all the Elvis’ imagery: the shop itself, her rhinestone boots, the mic, the 1968 comeback red guitar and black leather suit and also Rob Christie (Grammy winner) at the piano is wearing a red suit true to the era. The arrangement is wonderful and I love how the bridge is used as intro and outro. The slower tempo, the amazing piano play, her strumming and of course her singing and melancholy really makes me listen to the story and feel the sadness how love is being destroyed by distrust. She is a performer and storyteller who sings and makes you feel it all. Perhaps that is what you were looking for? Her vocal toolbox is so rich and she can do about anything with her voice it seems. It is a nice nod of appreciation to link to the original video and her channels: she can still use all the support :-) ua-cam.com/users/AngelinaJordanOfficial, ua-cam.com/users/AngelinaJordanCoverChannel You do that and I’ll subscribe! :-)
I agree, but the beehive on her head was a bit distracting. This version was a toned down and raw and true version of the song, as opposed to the ridiculously over-orchestrated Elvis version. Wrestling fans would call that one "over-booked."
The beehive was like Priscilla had her hair. Part of the scenery in a way. I like Elvis' version and it was and is a lot of fun and masterful showmanship. It seems a little detached from the story of the song.
Great reaction. That "Dude" playing the piano is Grammy Winning artist and producer Rob Christie, the studio director of Republic Records. He has accompanied Angelina on a number of videos.
Listening to and watching this was like enjoying a mini-movie. Angelina was so great it is becoming evident that very, very soon we will be at a loss of words to describe Angelina's performances. There is no one like her and I don't believe there ever was. Btw, the piano player is Rob Christie, a chief executive at Republic Records who is responsible to guide her as she continues to grow. She is signed with Republic and they are adhering to the wishes of Angelina's family by continuing to "low key" her until she is ready to be officially marketed to the world. But, their joint effort in producing material and presenting it on you tube, etc., keeps her global fan base very, very happy.
That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.
The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along). I paste below the order in which Angelina sung the verses. "Suspicious minds" Angelina Jordan - lyrics rearranged. Oh let our love survive I'll dry the tears from your eyes Let's don't let a good thing die When honey, you know I've never lied to you We're caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much baby Why can't you see What you're doing to me When you don't believe a word I say? We can't go on together With suspicious minds And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds So, if an old friend I know Stops by to say hello Would I still see suspicion in your eyes? Here we go again Asking where I've been You can't see these tears are real I'm crying (Yes, I'm crying) We can't go on together With suspicious minds And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds Oh let our love survive I'll dry the tears from your eyes Let's don't let a good thing die When honey, you know I've never lied to you

Angelina paints emotions with her voice. She appears to have a natural empathic ability to hear an original vocalist’s emotion in a song, she has the incredible vocal sensitivity and dexterity to translate what she heard into sounds that carry those emotions across the air, we hear them, and they penetrate into our soul, causing our subconscious to connect with the emotions felt by the original performer. One song becomes a mix of emotions from everyone she has heard before.
Yes, you’re right. Angelina has studied and learned from the greats, and you can hear their influences as she gives us beautiful performances in very different genres. But she is not a reincarnation of anyone-she is uniquely Angelina, and immediately recognizable now. She goes beyond being a singer. She is a vocal artist, and this video is so elegant musically, visually, and vocally.
The pianist is Rob Christie the head of Republic records to which Angelina is signed. This was spectacular and possibly the best performance of her career thus far. That takes into consideration the vocals, the video, piano, and symbolism. I believe it surely is a taste of things to come. Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. Epic. Incredible. There are no words. Epic! Wow, Wow, Wow! Could it be more Beautiful? ♥👣👸🏻🎷 Yeah she doing a Concert in Norway this month! Album to drop soon! So much to look forward to.♥👣👸🏻🎷

"Listening to silk" ...Wow, what an awesome description! Great reaction! She and Elvis are both "greatness" in their own ways on this song. His was a more upbeat, lighthearted performance, which contradicts the meaning of the lyrics, yet comes off as an outstanding Elvis-esque masterpiece. Angelina's rendition is more somber, serious, staying more true to the soulful meaning that the lyrics intended. Hers is, indeed, every bit as much of an outstanding masterpiece, capturing the full flavor of the story. By the way, the pianist is 2X-Grammy winner Rob Christie who is also an exec at Republic Records with whom Angelina is contracted. He's collaborated with her on several music vids so far.
Whoaaaa :D Thanks a lot my dude! Glad you enjoyed the video. I really appreciate any/all info I can get cause it helps my commentary in future videosssss. You're awesome!!
It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute. Don’t forget she writes music and was the youngest author in Norway to publish a book. No loud band, no light show, no dancers, just two instruments to accompany the MAGIC that Angelina Jordan brings like no one else can. At 7 she was killing us, at 16 she is taking us places we have never been. What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase.
The Hagstrom Red Guitar used in this video is a modern up to date copy of the one Elvis used in 1968. The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set."
(Image credit: Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images) Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block. The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000. By Matt Owen published March 31, 2021 Now, it has been confirmed that the legendary semi-hollow has been sold for a whopping $625,000, with the proud new owner of the lot managing to outbid six other plucky bidders to get their hands on the prized piece of music memorabilia.
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.
Relax, Angelina Jordan herself would tell you that she's not better than Elvis Presley. Elvis had a 3 octave legendary tone and vibrato which was sought after and never duplicated. But yes Angelina is awesome. But yeah there's different levels and Angelina is on her way! ;)
Elvis version is better, if you prefer hers it’s because you like her style, she only sings half the song , this is a 6 minute song, Elvis owns this song
It's a brilliant cover, but it is a cover. Not better than Elvis though. It's a great interpretation of the song. But always remember a cover is a tribute but you are given a canvas to work with.
Did you listen to Angelina's performance with no bias? If you did, it is rather surprising that you did not come to the opinion that she did not use his version as a canvas with which to work. The lyrics of the song does not deserve an "upbeat" tempo. They describe a deteriorating relationship, of which the narrator (singer) is aware and is desperate to save. Angelina fully realises the emotions behind the lyrics and channels her singing accordingly.
Can a cover of an original song be better than the original song? I've never listened to Angelina Jordan suspicious minds, but that song is the only song that Elvis Presley actually wrote for his wife! Most of the songs Elvis sang were either covers to somebody else's song! Or songs that somebody wrote for Elvis! Just one small question? did Angelina Jordan acknowledge that she was doing a cover to an Elvis Presley song written by Elvis Presley! A lot of people don't know the facts about famous entertainers! I bet for some reason most people think that Michael Jackson invented the moonwalk sorry a choreographer and dance teacher taught it to Michael Jackson! Michael Jackson learned choreography all the movements of Elvis Presley just came out of his soul when he was singing! A byproduct of growing up poor one of only four white families in a black neighborhood. And attending revivals and services in African American gospel churches! Don't believe that watch the interview of Mr Sam bell by the director of the new Elvis movie.
........Must disagree this is the best version. The 1969 Studio versionby Elvis is a masterpiece and brilliant on many levels. Please check it out. Again, it's not the 1970 Live version everyone is reacting to.
I will haha I love to stir the pot but seeing the comments about how great Elvis really was/is has me very curious to start doing reacts to him. When I grew up I was SUPPOSED to be exposed to all this kinda music but I was in a military academy haha.
If he says that it's better, that's how it is in his opinion. You may think different but that's you. I like Angelina's version and singing more. She nailed it.
I very much doubt that Angelina was aiming to be "better than Elvis". She completely reimagined the song and performed it is a way that, accurately, revealed the emotion within the lyrics.

You can't see these tears are real

Yes, you’re right. Angelina has studied and learned from the greats, and you can hear their influences as she gives us beautiful performances in very different genres. But she is not a reincarnation of anyone-she is uniquely Angelina, and immediately recognizable now. She goes beyond being a singer. She is a vocal artist, and this video is so elegant musically, visually, and vocally.
You are a good reactor you have a good understanding of music.
Thank you so very much :D This just made my whole day!
The pianist is Rob Christie the head of Republic records to which Angelina is signed.
This was spectacular and possibly the best performance of her career thus far. That takes into consideration the vocals, the video, piano, and symbolism. I believe it surely is a taste of things to come.
Your reaction was sincere and enjoyable, and thank you for your support of this angel. It would help both your channel and Angelina's if you were to encourage your viewers to like comment and subscribe to both Angelina's and your videos and channels.Angelina has just completed a series of four concerts in Norway and there are dozens of videos of the various live songs on UA-cam now. Thank you for all you do.
I will start making it a point to say to go support these artists. I honestly never considered my little platform could do any help to them what so ever, I'm not rethinking this and will start to mention it. Thanks a lot fo rthe protip!!
@@vand3rhorst Thank you so much for your quick and thoughtful response. Encouraging your viewers to do the things that I specifically mentioned are to help their algorithms just as you like to benefit yours. The verbiage that I outlined is important. Like comment and subscribe are the keywords for both of your channels. Most viewers do not know how to support you or the artist and you may educate them. Some record labels have indicated they're reluctant to have their viewers patronize reaction channels who are not supporting their artists. Many Young artists' Channel subscriptions and other factors that contribute to their algorithm are lower than expected and labels are attributing that to reaction channels not helping these young performers in the way I described. Myself and other fans of young artists embrace what you do and are providing this information not only to help the artist but also to help your Channel in terms of fan loyalty.
@@ronraskind I need any and all help I can possibly get. Thank you and I am always around to chat more about this!
@@vand3rhorst Each aspiring artist needs and deserves all the love and support we can give them. I always subscribe to each reaction channel that takes a few seconds encouraging and educating viewers to boost the analytics for the artist.
@@andyschnell58 Anyway I can improve the video while still keeping it completely relevant is a win in my book. Haha I have a tendency to ramble xD
So much to look forward to.♥👣👸🏻🎷
That's so awesome, I love learning this info :D thanks a lot for taking the time to fill me in. I really appreciate it! I love learning this stuff cause I like to add it to future reacts!
Angelina Jordan beautiful as ever, talented, unique, always on pitch, impeccable. All of her renditions are beyond all expectations. Thanks

Just subscribed. These last two years seeing many years of Angelina performances has been a pleasure. You don’t just watch and hear Angelina, you experience Angelina A pleasure I will enjoy the rest of my life. Loved your reaction. I am a big Freddie Mercury fan, RIP Freddie.
Maybe I should get into a lot of those classic rock Gods. WHatcha think?
@@vand3rhorst you could start with Angelinas covers. What about a double reaction of the show must go on, with her and Freddie?
@@gertwestblad9052 That is a great idea!!

NEW SUBSCRIBER FOR ANGELINA,
Great reaction man, Angelina is absolutely amazing isn't she !
It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine
AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute.
Love the voice
Nice thumbnail 👍😃
Thank you!!
Angelina is the master of the POWER WHISPER!

Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block.
THank you so much for all the info :D I love learning this stuff cause it helps me with future comments.

One of a kind, a class above! Great reaction.
Great reaction. Well said, she is a master craftsmen. She is special and no one like her.
Absolutely 1 in a trillion!
Great reaction, God Bless!
Thank you! You too! :D
Good effort , havnt heard anyone to rival the Kings version
Not sure about the mic, I think there are different models that have been released with that retro casing.
No one can stop her! In two or three years she will eat other artists for breakfast.
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video:
First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality.
But yeah there's different levels and Angelina is on her way! ;)
Another reactor called Angelina Jorden a teenage diva! that's it in a nutshell
Absolutely better than Elvis Presley!!!!
Elvis version is better, if you prefer hers it’s because you like her style, she only sings half the song , this is a 6 minute song, Elvis owns this song
I am slowly giving Elvis a chance. I was dead wrong about him.
It's a brilliant cover, but it is a cover. Not better than Elvis though. It's a great interpretation of the song. But always remember a cover is a tribute but you are given a canvas to work with.
Elvis’ version was also a cover.
So, I missed out on all my formidable teenage years to learn what I shoulda learned.
This song was composed and first recorded by Mark James, no Elvis. And no, this isn't better than Elvis.
If he says that it's better, that's how it is in his opinion. You may think different but that's you.
I like Angelina's version and singing more. She nailed it.
Even ty taylor and Dwight Y. has better versions than Elvis.
I very much doubt that Angelina was aiming to be "better than Elvis". She completely reimagined the song and performed it is a way that, accurately, revealed the emotion within the lyrics.
better than Elvis Presley? my opinion: NO
well to be honest ,I don't think she's better than Elvis ,not even close to the KING
I like to stir the pot a bit don't hate meh.
this is not better then elvis you must be joking
haha i like to stir the pot, don't hate meh.
