I second Tim’s comment. Great looking bench. I just finished building my first, scratch built, hand tools only workbench, but it’s not nearly as fancy as yours. I have a nice old quick release face vice, but still need to install the tail vice. I’ve accumulated most of the materials I need to build a wagon vice for the tail vise position, but haven’t gotten brave enough to start cutting into the bench top yet. (Might require a shot of liquid courage to get that project started...😄)

I recently made my Moxon vise right into my Roubo Bench with an 18" x 3/4 Acme threaded rod in a 3/4 EMT conduit with a square nut and 1/4" steel retaining plate. and it is 47" long 3" thick and 5 3/8" high with a 4" clear opening on one end and 28" clear open in the model and no rods stick out and it is built into my bench. take a look and tell me what you think.

I built myself a coarse Scandinavian C vise, and found it a great choice for the job. What do you think could be a disadvantage of the Scandinavian compared to a leg vise on a Roubo? Thanks

Clearly, you do beautiful work, and my comment is not in any way regarding your workmanship or methods because we all work in different areas and capacities of fine woodworking and different needs in our shop such as one who makes chairs, or massive board room conference table and as for me, I build custom doors, windows cabinet, furniture, and I do a lot of dovetailing. Thus, I dislike this type of Moxon Vise that sits on top of my workbench for a few reasons: I don't want to have to set it up and take it down all the time and I don't like the lack of design to have the threaded rod sticking out the way it doses. And last but not least your repeated acknowledgment of how easily one could get hurt by it falling off the table. Other than that, it's ok.

You can just secure the rod to the threads ,might be a bit slower opening and closing , but would save the threads sticking out as you say .
