strange that, as a kid growing up on the west coast of Canada, I almost never saw El Caminos. On trips to California they were obviously everywhere and they seemed to foreign to me. Now, as a fifty-year old, they have totally grown on me, and Id love to have one. This one in particular is a great example of a car done up, but not overdone. Nice video Lou.

Hi WickedFireFly13, Glad to receive a "Wow" from you, and the flexibility of car / truck is demonstrated in this one nicely :-) Thank you for sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
What people, mostly young people, don't understand about these cars, and not just el camino', is that these cars are not like modern day cars. What i mean is that, your not going to get 200k plus out of these engine's. I thought i had seen 96k on this one. Which means motor has " if its babied" maybe another 20 or 25k miles before it needs a total rebuild. Cars from that era, would only make it to 120 or 130k before they were shot, and needed a complete rebuild.

Wow! I always wanted an El Camino. I love that it's a car with a pickup back. I don't know why Chevy doesn't make a new one. I think the paint color is Dark Red Metallic. Looked like a 305 V8, but I'm not sure. I can't believe it had overdrive, that's great! It must run nice on the highway. I also noticed it had power windows. I saw a blank gauge on the right side of the dash, possibly a clock option not taken. It would be nice to add a tach there, but maybe the owner wants to keep it original. An amazing car and so clean! Thanks, Lou!

I didnt realize they had a SS El Camino. I guess all the ones I see on the road are base models. I grew up in the late 1980's so I remember these cars well. Chevrolet was producing the square body Malibu which this generation El Camino is based upon. They discontinued the Malibu in 1984(I think?) but the El Camino lived on till 1987. This has to be a very late run 1986 because it has the newly introduced steering wheel that came out on the 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS.
I believe they made up to 88 also the SS only had the Choo Choo super sport front end. one thing for sure OPG is the best at parts. I had an El Camino and I went to there warehouse store in Orange County, way before they moved closer to me in Seal Beach

SS?! Dont think so.... A emblem yes.
It's not an SS, you don't need to have an SS When you throw an Elderbrock And Straight pipes in it
It has all the right parts that make it an SS. Front air dam, mirrors and emblems. I don't know why you don't think it's an SS.
If it has Z15 on the build sheet that's located in the glove box then it is a true Super Sport.
The SS has a Factory Tach. This one has no Tach. Someone added SS Emblems to a Base El Camino. SS also has a Cowl Induction Style Hood.
Tyler, 8004dodgers, and Ric H. are correct. Z15 is the RPO code for the SS. Also, that SS emblem on the door is from a Monte Carlo, El Caminos had vinyl decals.
