I first saw this movie as a teenager. I loved every moment of it. And fell in love with Jacqueline Bisset.
I'm not sure, but it might still be playing for free with ad's on UA-cam.

Her beauty & accent did it for me.

PS: The stunt double DID have her shoulder dislocated while filming that first scene.

I was an avid SCUBA diver when this came out. My dive shop had a couple of the ampules from the movie scene! I'm 75 now and I miss diving the Florida Keys.
I was a college male when this came out. Could not care less about scuba diving, but Jaquline Bisset in this scene led to thousands and thousands of WET T SHIRT CONTESTS!!! Which I thoroughly enjoyed..😜😜😜😜 Thank you Jackie, wherever you are. You will always be that incredibly hot actress from this film, that made 19-year-old males drool.............

I saw it in the theatre also .... but I developed a lust for what was under the t shirt instead !
Absolutely a great adventure movie. Fabulous music and great cast.
Music by the great John Barry of early James Bond fame. Very underrated movie. Robert Shaw did his usual fine performance and Louis Gossett, Jr. as the antagonist was also great. Probably the weakest performance was Nolte’s character.
TBS used to show this version long ago and later blurred it out. Come on man.

Robert Shaw's younger brother, Alex, was my local doctor when I was a teenager.I always loved Robert Shaw in this film, plus Jaws, The Sting, and The Battle of the Bulge. I still remember the TV series he starred in, in the late 1950's, The Buccaneer.
Saw this as a kid in 1977. Had a phobia of moray eels for years afterward.
Same…also I saw Jaws when I was a kid and the next day I was freaked out swimming in a lake even though I knew it was impossible for a shark to be there. I was 10

I saw this at the old Jerry Lewis Theater.
That was filmed on the Wreck of the Rhone, BVI. It sits in 85' of water. If they had bolted like that without a safety stop, air embolism for sure.
In the first few minutes they managed to blow off just about every rule of diving and dive ethics.

I never realized it was the Moray Eel. I had always thought it was supposed to be like a ghost or something spooky that was just left unexplained.
The eel makes more sense but I always liked the unexplained angle better.

As a young boy remembering this movie, there’s one reason (well two) we’re watching this now.
This was really a solid, fun movie and we had more appreciation for Ms. Bisset as a result.

I was 15 when this movie came out. I remember all of us boys talking about that T-shirt. Oh boy!
MInutes in, we teenage males knew this was going to be a movie we would never forget. 45 years later wet white tshirts are still the sexiest thing in the world to me. I figure it was THIS movie.

@@Rockatansky-ei4je She lost her mouthpiece and was without oxygen, not sure what is worse, drowning or the bends. Besides that they were not at a great depth i.e. most likely within non decompressing safety.
@@Timetrends-n5t all he needed to do is to put the mouthpiece back into her mouth and calm her down.

She was in more danger from being seriously injured from Decompression sickness, AKA "the bends" by racing to the surface like that, for all dives below 33 feet (10 m) safety stops to De-gas are not optional, and they were well below 33 ft. They looked to be around 100ft, at that depth she would have been in serious trouble if she had really shot to the surface like that. At that depth you would need to take at least 2 stops on the way up for 3 to 5 mins each to decompress. Lucky its just a movie.
@@uhtred7860 Yeah I had the bends experience myself coming from 120ft even with doing the stops and it's no fun. Either way we don't really know. Stay safe
Saw this in a theater as a 10 year old. I distinctly remember at around 7:40 of this clip completely forgetting the scare from only a few minutes earlier.
