I’ve been a minimalist for years, and over time, I’ve discovered that my lifestyle includes some unique things that might seem unconventional to others.
While these habits or practices very much align with my minimalist values, they might appear strange especially for non-minimalists but I think some of these can still be weird even if you are a minimalist yourself. Enjoy! 🌿

What’s one unusual habit you have that helps you stay organized or simplify your life? 😄
I live in Japan, where home dishwashers are expensive and rare (mostly because of tiny kitchen spaces). I wash everything by hand, which is also a great time to listen to music or podcasts. I actually look forward to washing my dishes every day. (Is that weird?)
I so love your honesty! I don't think anything about you is weird but rather wondrous! 🙂 I love that you can go to the store every couple of days instead of doing a big grocery haul. I appreciate your reminder that just because it's free, doesn't mean we need to bring it home!! Everything has a cost! Waiting in line forever for something free? Time is money! Thanks for sharing your honest OOPS in bringing home the free cap! ha. You're human, and you prove that minimalism is an ongoing practice! I just started two months ago and am currently doing a no-spend August with my husband. I want to build the habit of really evaluating every single item I bring into my home. I am an AVID Amazon shopper, so this will definitely be a challenging process for me. You've been incredibly helpful to me on this new journey of mine!
I truly like reading your comments and hearing how your journey is evolving! You're doing great! 😊🌱 Thank you
@@SunnyKindJourney Thank you so so much!!!
I can relate with the #7. Cleaning extremely relaxing that sometimes i think i’m becoming a clean freak. 😂 thanks for the insight Seve!
That's so true 😄 For me it's especially the wiping part that is so satisfying somehow haha! Thanks for watching 🌿
I completely relate in re-evaluating every piece of clothing each time. I didn't think anyone else did this, so it's nice to know someone knows the feeling!
Yesss! There are always others thinking the same way 😊😊
I do it, too. Any time I look at something and think, "Ugh, I don't want to wear this anymore," into the donation box it goes.
I’ve started doing this as well. Every time I do laundry I declutter clothing.
This is so true. I've started to decline items because I really don't need more stuff.
That's great! 👏
I loved this video Seve! Your take on avoiding freebies really resonated with me. It's so easy to accumulate clutter just because something is free, but your insight about the hidden cost of storing these items really hit home. It’s a great reminder to be more intentional, even when it comes to “free” stuff. Thanks for sharing these unique habits and helping us all stay focused on what truly adds value to our lives!
Thank you for watching and I'm happy to hear the video resonated with you! 😊🙌
Great idea to only buy perishable foods for the next 3 days or so. I'M IN!
Hello from Montreal. We have 3 grocery stores within walking distance. We also have "store cards" that collect points when we shop. As well, weekly, items go on the "points" list. We shop every 5 to 8 days, (that's what my granny cart will hold). So, we get food on offer, and the points to go with it, and when we reach certain thresholds, we then get a lump sum off of our final grocery bill at check out. A very useful tool not to buy needless crap. We only buy what we eat on a weekly basis.
I did a clothes sweep a few days ago, and got rid of the final push "stuff." At bedtime, I always clean my surfaces, sweep the great room/kitchen, and tidy up before I go to bed. We don't do tv here either. I don't bother with episodic tv nor Netflix. I am content with YT and a pod cast before bed. I don't have any social media, on my desktop nor my phone.
I do the mindful slow walking to and from the store and through the park near home when I am out.
We will soon enter the "Closet Swap" period when the summer clothes go into storage and our fall wardrobe gets hung out. My clothes choices are always suited for layering. I don't buy seasonal clothes, if they cannot be used across the year. I have my base layers, my long sleeve shirts, and pants/sweats, than can be layered over a base layer in the winter. Minus (-20c) is very cold without layered clothing for sure.
Excellent, we have pretty similar habits! I am entering the closet swap period soon too. It's always so nice to see and wear those heavier clothes you couldn't during the summer! 😊
4:02 i can’t do the groceries the same as you. The grocery store is not close by and my wife and i love to meal prep so we actually have lots of stuff in the freezer but we have an inventory we keep diligently so nothing gets wasted.
Amen on the TV point, thought I was a weirdo for not doing that.
Yeah I haven't seen so many shows and have no idea when people talk about them but I'm not starting either just to fit in either haha 😉
I really relate to your short walks! I do this as well. I have some nice woodland near to me. I'm usually the only one not walking a dog.
Right on! So I'm not the only one doing this without a dog haha 😄🌿
@@SunnyKindJourney a woman actually asked me once "where is your dog?". People feel like they need to have an excuse to go for a walk. Same with fishing I think. They really want to just sit and look at the river or the lake, but they feel guilty.
I'm 74, I have very few clothes. I get most free or second-hand. Every few years, I buy a pair of shoes or nice slacks. I volunteer at 3 places where I get tee shirts.
3 of us live in a 2BR apartment near Chicago. When we travel, we use carry-on only. Dressy tops and sweaters last years. Off-season clothes are stored in our suitcases. No pop or alcohol. Tina, Al's wife
10:30 same with cleaning and tidying. It really is meditative. I sometimes take all the clothes out of my dresser and closet and put it back just to relax
So true! 🙌
Thank You Seve for giving me a refreshed perspective of walking for air. For example, a 5-minute stroll or 10-minute stroll. Just lingering, slow, truly stress less linger. Being American, I got fed up with obsession's with performance, most speed, most distance, most no pain no gain! Faster, Longer, nonsense. 5 minutes of quiet, relaxing, "non-expectation" moments to, as you say, to reset, rejuvenate, relax and relish the moment. 😀
Yes, exactly! That's what life is all about, just enjoying the ride while it lasts 😇
I do the same things except I’m not able to walk to any stores living in the woods ( too many bears ) 😁 I have to drive to places I need to go but it has helped that I have cut my spending.
I wouldn't walk either if there's a risk of dying every time haha 😂

Loved this video - I do most of these things! 👌🏻
Awesome! And thank you 😊
Great vid, very well presented, def. sub here. Great tips 👏🏾
Awesome, thank you 😊
Great Speech dear!!
Thank you ❤️
Hi i find that i spend more going every day or thrice a week any suggestion on how we can spend less. great content I am really learning a lot thanks
I like that thumbnail implying that you have no actual food😅
I know that is a truth for many people but it still made me laugh 😂
My local supermarket is kind enough to store it for me 😉😄
Mulla on aika samoja juttuja mitä teen.
First off, I would consider who really need it even though it's free. Sure , not me .
Yeah, I think we just get too excited when something is 100% off 😄
7:59 100% w u on tv series for the same reason. They are a time suck and give me anxiety if I can’t finish. Same with video games.
5:46 same as you on splurging on some things and cheaping out on others.
I don't think your habits are weird at all because I do the same things. My only deviation from you would be on the hat freebie. If I always wore hats and someone would give me one for free, I would take it so I wouldn't have to buy the next one.
Yeah I wear those all the time too and actually both of them will be in use. I think the mistake from me was just taking something because it was free and not thinking beforehand its value to me. So kinda going against what I aim to do in my life. But every mistake or failure is always a learning opportunity 😉

How dare you call the way I live weird.😁
Seriously though probably the weirdest thing I do is with my garden compost pile. It requires a lot of water to make it rot down properly so I save my dishwater and pour it on my compost pile. (Anyone who lives alone and rarely entertains company doesn’t need a dishwasher IMHO).
Sounds great! I think as long as there are no harmful chemicals going in as well, that's an excellent way to repurpose the water 👏

Green hearts 🌱❤❤
1:28 with you on the freebies.
You spend more time and possibly spend more money shopping frequently.
Time, definitely yes. Money, not sure, could be. But I don't see it as a time lost since these are mindful self-care moments for me :)
@@SunnyKindJourney If you're careful and only buy what you intended it shouldn't cost more but many people get tempted to buy unnecessary things when they are in the stores.
2:24 w u on the clothes. I do the same almost every day. 2:55
9:39 I take a walk every 1-2 hours at work.
Does your girlfriend have the same vaues as you?❤🏴🇨🇦
Yes! She expresses them maybe differently and practically we enjoy different things and do things differently but behind those, we are quite similar :)
