    These guys are the actual sweetest, I saw them open for Waterparks over this weekend. They played this and the singer explained the background of this song and fuck it was so emotional, this is so beautiful. It's so personal and pure. These guys definitely deserve the recognition.

    Saw them play before Set it Off in Chicago last night. When they came on stage to set up, I could instantly feel that they were good people. Then, when they played this song I started sobbing so hard. My best friend was squeezing my arm in support next to me. With my years of depression and suicidal thoughts, to hear this song live (seeing them at all, really) was so impactful. Seeing and hearing him cry while singing it made me feel a connection I've never had to song or group before. I hope they continue to give people like me moments like that.

    The first time I heard this song I had never even heard of these guys. It was about 5 years ago and I went to see movements. A few years prior I lost a good friend of mine to suicide. I had "healed" and thought about it in passing mostly. As most folks do. They started the song explaining it's origin and what proceeded was the most emotionally profound experience of my life. I cried, and cried and cried. In the middle of the venue, clutching my then girlfriend now fiance. And just absolutely wept. I come back here once in a while when I take a few moments to remember those who have left us. And I think I'll do so until I can no longer hear. Thank you guys for this song.

    The first time I heard this song I actually got a little scared. The first part of the song where he's talking about regret and how he could've spent more time with the deceased sounded like my thoughts every time I look at the sick people around me. I always think I need to show them more love and be with them more and yet I never do.
    And then came the second part and shit man even that spoke to me. As soon as I heard the line "Your sister was the one with issues that they had to deal with now" I got chills. That's my life in one sentence. My sister is severely depressed and bipolar and my brother has a lot of issues as well. I'm the only "normal" child in my family. This song made me scared because suddenly I saw myself in his situation. I can't force my parents to have to handle another sick child so at one point in the future if I need help I feel like I won't go to them. I'm surrounded by people who need help so I can't be weak and my refusal to break might one day be the end of me. A scary possibility I only saw through this song. For sure made me think.

    • @Catzrule28

      people are so worthy of love and support. you never know who's suffering and the fear that somebody might suddenly disappear like this is terrifying. i hope you're holding up okay. remember there are people who love you and it's important to address your feelings and that you're valid and things are going to be okay

    • @vincentistired5013
      @vincentistired5013 3 роки тому +2

      Just because your siblings are ill, doesn't mean you can't rely on your family for help. I interpret that part of the song more as, 'you died, and now the people around you are suffering because of it.' The idea that you're transferring pain onto others when you die, so the cycle repeats. Suicide is a very difficult thing for people to deal with, and your method of bottling it up is not going to make anyone feel less pain. It might only make it worse for you. Another quote in the song is, "Why couldn't you have told a friend that might've helped it all?" Reaching out can save someone.
      You should reach out for help. If not to your parents, your friends, a therapist, anyone. I think your parents would rather have another mental ill child than a dead one.

    I survived an attempt, 3 weeks ago. Can only go uphill from here, really. Literally. I mean, I DID just hit rock bottom, the very end of the line. What other way to go than up?
    Let me tell you, I saw some shit in the moments I thought were meant to be the last.
    None of it pretty.
    And I finally understood everything. That, although I may be a victim of my circumstances, **I** was the problem. I was hurting myself so much worse than I thought I understood.
    And I found myself again, amidst that overwhelming agony and darkness... Where all sanctity, all meaning, all gods and all love went to die, I realised that in the end, here where I lay in bitter cold and absolute solitude, the last thing you have is yourself and the very LEAST I could do after all is said and done is to just be kind to myself, for once. To comfort myself.
    And that's when I finally saw myself again. I remembered who I am, as cheesy as it may sound.
    And immediately, I felt everything again. Everything. Love, regret, pain, happiness, nostalgia, fear, panic. Alive.
    And I felt the presence and weight of all those who genuinely love and care about me. All those for whom it was worth suffering. All those who have also suffered for me. Their touch, like soothing fire, their words, like angelic songs, weighed heavy on my mind like never before.
    So I immediately snapped the fuck out of it and got help.
    And here we are.
    All things considered, I am doing ridiculously well, right now.

    The first time I heard this song, I heard it on spotify. I thought the tune was beautiful, but I didn’t know what the lyrics really said. Then one day on the bus to school, today actually, I wanted to know what the lyrics said (saw them yet again, on spotify, so the music played along with it) and I cried. Literally cried on the bus. The lyrics spoke to me and gave me chills. I’ve had a lot mental health issues in the past, and this made me think “Is this what my friends would’ve felt?” The verse “ He was happy, don’t understand how it could all be fake” spoke to my heart. It’s my absolute favourite song, and finding out what it’s about made me love it even more.

    Argh I wish Super Whatevr had more songs like this one. Don't get me wrong, I like their other stuff, but it's all very kind of surface level and when it does get into misery and hopelessness it tends to be very generic, aside from "Will Work for Food" imo. This song is the only one I listen to and really feel the pain and the sadness felt by this friend of a boy who killed himself and the echoing resonance of the bullet that "has an exit just the same" I want to feel what this makes me feel, but more. I want to scream in agony and let out the horror that is life.
    Absoloutely astonishing. A true masterpiece.

    I just lost my best friend. I knew him for 19 years, he was the closest friend I have ever had. Please tell the people close to you that you love them and make sure they are ok. Your not supposed to lose people when your 23.

      @@Catzrule28 you are amazing person 💙 the truth is i'm also having bad feeling about things I recently do in my life. Well, I guess i don't cope with them in healthy way (alcohol isn't healthy, right?) but some people in my life are there for me to deal with it. Thanks for asking, stranger! Hope you're doing fine!

    • @Catzrule28
      @Catzrule28 4 роки тому

      @@LenculkaGD it's always good to have people to talk to ab stuff :) the first step to solving a problem is addressing it, alcohol is okay in moderation but, as a depressant, it'll only make you feel worse if you try to use it as a coping mechanism. i'm glad you have people to talk to :) i went off on a tangent ab my abusive ex and his attempted suicides to some friends and got a lot of built up emotions out. i'm tired after crying so much last night but i think i'm feeling better, thanks for your concern :) i hope you have a nice day!
