WHAT DO I SEE WHEN I PREGNANCY SCAN SHEEP?

- In this video I am pregnancy scanning my home bred gimmers (two year old females) who had an issue with liver fluke back in December with three ewes being particularly bad.
I also show a lot of the screen in this video so people can get a look at what the scanner sees while he's scanning .
For the longer version of this video which shows every sheep scanned then download the PATREON app and checkout my page at -
/ thesheepgame
This is a subscription based app that I hope will help support me as I leave the police at the end of March for a 2 year unpaid break to see if I can make it as a sheep farmer.
Hope you enjoy the video,
Cammy

ABOUT ME
I’m 30 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on UA-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Awww, just when I was getting almost fluent in FastCammy!
Haha just noticed how many likes you got on this comment!! It's a very Scottish thing to roll words into each other! Hard to break the habit of a lifetime! =D
@@TheSheepGame Australians do this too!
I just started playing him at half speed when I get lost - No problem!
We appreciate the effort to speak slower for us Americans and Canadians it’s very sweet.
Thanks Stacie!
Hi Stacie. If you can't understand his accent - which by British standards isn't that difficult to understand - instead of being inconsiderate and forcing him to change why not go watch Canadian & American sheep channels? Some of us came here for the accent not to ogle a married man.
@@gingerbaker4579You miserable, intolerant git.
Hello from an American sheep fan in Barcelona. Thanks for the great content. Scans are definitely interesting. Your positivity is delightful and your accent is utterly charming. You be you, Cammy! Bravo for introducing willing helpers and bringing us along to your lovely fields.
Cammy , I have no problem understanding you. If there's a word or phrase I don't understand , I look it up. I have learned a lot from your UA-cam channel.
Another great video. I liked the scanning and the double screen.
Thanks.
i'm ridiculously proud of having subscribed to your channel months before Sandi boosted your brand. I've kinda gotten used to not always knowing what you're saying but always enjoy your videos. i really like watching the screen.
Me too!
Thank you so much for taking the time to include all the captioning. Those of us that are hearing-impaired greatly appreciate your hard work.
I LOVE your laugh! Thank you. I'm enjoying the video of the scans.
Will try and get a bit more laughing in then 😉😂
Since I'm from East Tennessee (Appalachian Mountains) we are considered to have a strong accent ourselves in the USA(some people call us hillbillies); I appreciated the slowing down and explaining some words. I love watching and listening and appreciate the fact you care about us understanding all you do. Keeping my fingers crossed for luck on the 2 year work hiatus and that you can do what you love best, but I'm sure you will be missed on the force (police department) not sure what you all call it. Glad you are going to give all the girls one more years chance. Be well.
Thanks, glad it is helping you to understand a bit better, looking forward to having this break from the police and getting fully submerged in the sheep.
@@TheSheepGame I was half expecting to see some scans in your merchandise store. Also, I recently discovered you can create customised Top Trump decks - great for images of and facts about different sheep breeds. Very educational on long car journeys! Quite a few companies offer such packs. Ditto playing cards.
You don't have to speak slower. We can understand you. You have a great accent. 😂😂😂
I agree. It took a couple videos to learn some of the words like tup and hog, but I think Cammy is easier to understand than the Peaky Blinders tv show.
You do great Cammy! Love you! 🇺🇸 🙋
Speak your tongue please as that's one of the things I enjoy about your content. I'll figure it out. 😊
Actually some of us are hearing impaired and greatly appreciate people speaking clearly and slower. The accent is fabulous though. Keep up the great work Cammy!
Ida, I agree with you!
Thanks Cammy, that was brilliant!
To all those who are still struggling with your accent I recommend watching your back catalogue of videos - way more entertaining than a language course!
Great to hear you sing. You put a 😊 on me! I enjoy the accent. It's still there when you slow down. Great video!!
Hello eh! This Canadian loves your accent. When you talk really fast it's a challenge to straighten out the words your saying but I find it very entertaining for me to translate. 😃 . Keep up the great vlogs!
Thanks!
Love the accent - Michigan USA - yes, I found you through Sandi and I’ve learned a ton from your videos. I love Sandi the most but you’re gaining ground. LOL. Kidding 😉 you both are awesome teachers and sharers. Thank you 😊
So my dream is that you get Sandi 's sheep dog better trained if you ever go to visit after lockdown... she could use the help I think
Kinsey wants to help, just doesn’t have proper guidance.
Hi Cammy. Sending you and your Mom a hug from sunny southern Canada. Have a safe and happy day. 🇨🇦❤️🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Ty Cheryl sending you a hug too and you stay safe too . from Cammys mum x
At first I had a tough time understanding what you were saying. But the longer I listened the better I understood you. Your doing fine. Fear not, we can understand you just fine. Just fine. We understand you just fine. Lol! You’re joyful to watch.
Thanks Denise, I realise my accent isn't easy for everyone to understand but glad if you are able to 👍
Your a man off many trades cammy shearer, scanner , farmer, police man and a singer who would off thought it ! 😂
and don't forget videographer, photographer and drone pilot!
Thank you for considering your audience! Thoroughly enjoyed this video.
My dad had a heavy brogue even though he was from northeastern USA. He was 4th generation English and Scottish and his family lived with his great grandparents. My children had a hard time understanding him so I would translate. I live in Pennsylvania. Love your channel.
We call that a Shanty song 🇨🇦
Thanks Cammy, brilliant to actually see the screen..its normally a mystery what the scanner sees while you get the ewes sent up to the trailor 👍
I loved you explaining the scanning, thank you so much :) I'm not a sheep farmer or a farmer but I'm enjoying watching and learning all things sheep from both you, Lizzie and team and Sandi Brock who recommended you!! 😉 🤩 🐑😍 You are both so fun to watch! Cheers from NSW Australia
Hi Cammy. Thanks for sharing the ultrasound screen and speaking very clearly. Even when you speak fast I still try to follow what you saying. Love these videos. Bye for now from
U. S. A
Thanks Cynthia, glad you are able to understand me mostly 👍
I can understand you just fine. My grand father was from Glasgow. As children we thought he just talked funny, as we got older we understood him perfectly ❤ I'm a fairly new subscriber, I found you through Sandi's comment section. I like your videos, and your accent! Keep up the great work! 🐑❤
Great you can understand me well, thanks for subscribing, hope you enjoy the channel.
You can speak as fast as you want to because to my ears you sound great. I just listen more carefully. Your scanning system is great. We used to see a lot of liver fluke back in the day on the larger herds.
Fluke has been awful this year. Just can't seem to get to grips with it. Great video.
I've no problems understanding you, don't worry about slowing your natural voice rythym down. Loved the video, always fun to see the scanning picture. I think I need more practice finding the lambs! Plus, there's a scanning scene in my book so always good for a reminder when editing and making sure I'm being accurate ☺️
Thank you Cammie. No problem understanding you. Good job on the scanning. You should be proud.
Your doing fine talking English Cammy. I love learning Scottish colloquialisms 👍🏻
I understood you so much better!! I live in the South of the USA where we talk very slow Thank you for slowing down. You have beautiful sheep 🐑.
American here. I have been a fan of BBC comedy for enough years... I have learned to interpret. LOL I do appreciate the defining of sheep terms in other places. Gimmer and Hogg are two definitions that I have guessed at in the past. It is good that you cleared the terms up.
I love seeing the scanning and the little lambs inside ❤️❤️❤️
Its a great time of year especially on your own ewes, and then the run down to lambing begins 👍
Awesome video, thank you so much for the scanning video, we didn't get to see the empty ones, to compare. But as you said, you don't want empty ones. And we love your accent and the way you speak, we've learned a lot. I seriously want a t-shirt that says "lie down, (pronounced lye doone). Love it. Wellerman is very popular in the states. Nathan Evans version especially. Good job as always!
Oh, I would seriously buy a tshirt with lie doon on it as well! Something to think about Cammy!!!
I think I mentioned before not to worry so much. I understand most and we will become fluent in the Irish tongue in the desire to understand and we all can rewind and go over if we can't figure a word out. And you always catch the things you know we may not get and put the words up anyway. I love how you treat the sheep with compassion and respect as they pass through for their scans. That is really just wonderful.
Thanks Dana, hope you are able to catch on with my scottish accent too😉
@@TheSheepGame OH my god I meant to say Scottish haaaa. Was a bit late night when I was commenting..... :-)
Thank you so much Cammie for the ultrasound video. I will definitely be heading to your longer version. Great job!
That's great Heather, glad you enjoyed it enough to want to see more!
I have ringing in my ears so my hearing is reduced. I do appreciate you slowing down a bit. Thank you so much. Even though I missed some of your speech I would still watch the videos.
Thanks Cindy, glad you can still enjoy the videos 👍
This was an AWESOME video!!! And Cammy thank you for explaining your “lingo” it’s a big help! I live in the “the South” (Tennessee) in the States, and I always have to translate and explain what I’m saying for my northern (New York) in-laws. I have the opposite problem you do though...I talk MUCH more slowly than they do LOL!
Having been to Scotland albeit briefly on 2 occassions I love the translation sub titles. Sometimes I understand what your saying when Gaelic words pop up, but sometimes I just dont get it and the subtitles teach me a new language.
but the subtitles with the accent are hilarious - the Kiwi's can understand you - edited bit we can all also put the subtitles on the ones that youtube provides at the bottom right hand side of the screen
Going back and watching this video with you trying to slow down your speech was hilarious. You can tell you’re trying so hard 😂
Greetings from Calgary, Canada. Love your videos. I am originally from Newfoundland right across "the pond" from you. I love the drone footage and scenes of your grazing lands. Newfoundland has very similar geography. I hope you guys stay safe when traveling for shearing and scanning. Love your channel. People need to see all the work that goes into putting their food on the table.
Loving the video again, great picture on picture. Unfortunately not a fan of the slow talking over explaining bit. We are not that daft you know. ;) over all great, but it breaks a bit with the fantastic rhythm your videos usually have. Good luck with the 2y break.👍☺
Wow, always learn something new here. Had no idea about your PO background. I wish you much success in your endeavors. You’ve opened the world to a way of life many of us have lost a direct connection. I relish the accent, requires one to really listen to what you are saying. I also understand the need to appeal to more folks around the world. We fell in love with the Sheep Game because of you, always remember that. It’s your show.
Thanks Michael, such kind words. Glad you are enjoying the channel!
That group of Ewes is beautiful. I can see why you are proud of having bred them. That Blueface Leicestershire blood really shows.
Thanks Carolyn, they have wintered well.
Cami, please do go on speaking in your natural manner! It's one of the things we enjoy about your channel. It's fun and interesting to learn the variances between english-speaking countries. Thanks for the quick tutorial on scanning results!
More sweet Fern and Lizzie please!
Oops! Cammy.
Another great video Cammy! Thank you for showing us what you are looking for on the screen. It is fascinating! And, I love the fact that you will give them one more chance to get pregnant. They live outside and they had some harsh weather to bear. Those girls had a rough year with that liver fluke. I know you need to make some money on this Sheep Game... and your bills don't stop coming due every month. You have put a lot of time and effort into those girls, so hopefully, they will begin to make you some money soon.
Very Informative and interesting Video Cammy Thank you. Your accent is very easy to understand so I would not worry too much about your commentaries/narration. Great Job and Well Done to all concerned 👍👍👍
Cheers Keith, glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm so glad u are slowing down speaking I'm watching from Portugal and yes I do need subtitles lol as beautiful and unique the Scottish accent is at times it's really hard to understand lol 🤣 ... Congratulations great channel learning a lot specially I'm thinking to get in 2 sheep farming :)
Huge fan from South Australia, and I love your accent, even understand more each video of what you are saying, 😂 😂 I am binge watching, keep it up love your content.
Thank you for showing the ultrasound screen. I love being able to test my skills. My dad taught me to read x-rays and ultrasounds years ago but I don’t get much practice. I’m hoping one day I can afford a scanner but until then thank you!
That's great Corinne, hope it bought back great memories and you were able to pick up a few lambs 👍
@@TheSheepGame it certainly did bring back memories. I also only got the one that wasn’t as far along as the others wrong.
Thank you for the time you take explaining things.
From the States...I watch Sheep Game and Hoof GP for the scenery and the accents. Speaking slower ruins the Scottish experience. I enjoy the difference between the different agricultural environment and home. You Tube does has closed captioning. Anyone having difficulty can just turn that on and follow what you say. The only time you should need subtitles is if the audio is bad.
Great video as always. You don't need to slow your speech. Those who want to hear it slower can slow the speed of the video. That works very well and isn't too hard to do.
Thanks for letting us see the scanner! It was fun to guess along as to whether it would be twins, singles or triplets. To my (very amateur) eye, those are fine looking ewes. You must be proud.
A few people had been asking about seeing the scanner and explaining what I was looking it so hope it made a bit of sense. I'm pleased with how my ewes have wintered, they are looking fit and well.
Love your videos. It great to see the farm work and the country. Thanks.
Thanks Elizabeth!
I love how you showed the scanning, etc...!! Thank you
Still, neither can find time to scan your own 🐑 in this busy time, Cammy. Well-developed gimmers, despite liver fluke outbreak. Animals with a lot of spirit. New way of disinfection, a gas burner. Also easy for an intermediate snack 🌭 😁. Nice to be able to watch while scanning 📺. How many lambs scanned in 57 gimmers -4 of course? For me it shouldn't be necessary, then the surprise is gone too 🍰. Cammy, never mind a single, often become the best replacement ewes (if it's an ewe lamb of course) Also handy to add a triplet lamb if that is possible. Fortunately not often triplets with our sheep, and no barren ones either, silly joke, lol 🤣. In 🇳🇱 we often say, better a good single than bad triplets 🍼. Cammy, on to the next blockbuster 🎥 👍.
Good scan Cammy. Brave to do it on screen and leave yourself open for criticism. I agreed with you though. 👍👍. You're easy to understand. Bit of Ulster Scots no bother to a Co. Antrim man. Cheers😀
Really liked the double cam, a talk over when u are editing might be easier to describe what ur seeing rather than when ur doing the job...but I've no need running out buying Scanning equipment not an iota what I'm looking at 😄🤷♂️
Dairy farmer from Australia mate and we understand you easy keep doing you're thing
Hiya, thank you so much to showing the scanning process, I really enjoyed that and got a few right 😀I am so glad Sandi put in a word to watch your vlogs as well because I love your channel so much and i am going to support you through Patreon (I hope I don't muck that up) it is a good thing to do to help the farming community, I think that people don't always think about the farmers that provide the food that they put on their plates. You are a great role model for people who are trying to get into farming 🌠
Nice seeing the scanning , thanks !
Thanks Camy, another video well done. It was helpful to see the scanning screen
As someone from the United States I don’t mind your accent but I did spend some time in Ireland during university so that gives me a leg up. Also, I definitely like the view of the ultrasound screen. I work as a midwife so I see a lot of ultrasound and it is fun to see how accurate I am reading them along with you!
This is awesome thank u for sharing . I really like the lambing time as well. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely informative thanks for sharing your wonderful hard life of farming 😍
Enjoyed the video Cammy, my other half is Greek and has always found it difficult to grasp the different accents we have here. Wishing you all the best wishes with following your heart into farming full time. 🤗
Just when I was getting used to your normal speaking cadence 😂
Your videos are educational and entertaining. And yes, found you through Sandi’s channel.
From the land of Jack Daniels and Dolly Parton.
Thank you for slowing your speech a bit. My senior ears appreciate it. I’m one that came from Sandi and I do watch Graeme as well, but I have struggled to get every word. Maybe 2/3 OK. This video 100%.
That's great Diane, glad you were able to pick up more in this video
Loved this video Cammy, thanks for sharing scanning even the bit about being nervous until the few are done. Hey, from Oklahoma USA!
Please do more of these! So interesting to practice reading the screen! :D
Glad you enjoyed them Sara, might not be until later in the year now that I have more scanning videos.
Thanks cammy for another good video . Nice to see new life on screen. Keep up the good work buddy
After watching a few of your videos it is easier to understand your dialect. Sandy @ Sheepishly Me speaks very highly of you, but I was your viewer first from Hoof GP. All wonderful farm related UA-camrs!
Will you consider a video primarily about your dogs, including Lizzie talking about her plans for Fern? The dogs are amazing! I would love to see how they are trained.
Cammy, are you able to freeze a scan image? If you can I would love for you to do a quick video and point out what we’re looking at! This was a great video!
Yes! I have never understood how people can read these images!
@@samanthaclarke3422 I’m a nurse and I have seen hundreds of scans of different parts of the body and most of the time needed a “tour guide” to point out what I am looking at. They’re not easy, like Cammy said.
Agree! It just looks like black and grey blobs until someone says "that's a head" (or heart or something)
Yes please
Enjoying the slower speech but also enjoy your accent. Good video. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely brilliant video. I would love to have my own small holding in the future, and your videos are so educational and I have learnt sooooo much.
Aww congratulations to all the momma sheep I’m sure the other four will get there can’t believe you’d never heard wellerman it’s awesome
Will run the empties around for another year and hope they get in lamb, the rest are now pretty close to lambing!
Please keep talking normally, it is one of the many reasons I love your videos. Here our cull ewe prices are so high (as are breeding stock prices) that anything open is leaving most farms. I am much busier scanning this spring than normal. With my flock, my son and I have selected for ewes that breed early (less than 18 months) so they get culled if not in lamb the first time. This has helped when feed prices are high as we have to feed for five to seven months a year. I guess with your pasture based system it is an easier job to decide to give them another chance. Keep making these great videos.
Well Um glad you can see the lambs. I sure couldn’t...nice voice...
Thank you, Cammy!
Super informative, thank you so much! BTW don’t worry about slowing it down, after the third video, we catch on 😉
I've never had any problem understanding you. You only had to say lie doon once and I hit the deck, then realised you were talking to Meg.😂 It's your accent, and it's fab, but I couldn't make head nor tail of what was inside your yows, it's a real skill being able to decipher those scans.
Really enjoyed the video. Fascinating
Really interesting to see the scanning results ❤
Great informative video Cammy.
Great Video! Loved seeing what you're looking at while you're scanning. Don't worry about us across the pond, your accent isn't too thick.
Glad you found it interesting Jonathon and hopefully you could make out a few lambs on the screen.
Love love love this!!!
Another great informative video , it must be pleasing that you bred those glimmers and got a good 174%
Great video cammy I really enjoyed it
Those numbers are still really good 👍👍
You should link to this video every time you scan, cause I wanted to see this kinda video for awhile and couldn't find it on your videos! :)
For 35 years I’ve been repairing medical equipment, for five years I repaired ultrasound machines, but never got the skills to read the sonograms. We used phantoms to test the machines.
Interesting!! It’s seriously expensive for repairs! Probably the technology involved?
@@TheSheepGame indeed. The heads are nominally the weak link as you probably know. Once they hit the floor you’re in trouble.😖
Nice video... Glad Sandi reminded me to check you out... Been a subscriber for a while.
Thank you!!
The only time I've found you a bit hard to understand is the vid at Archie's farm where your accent went a bit feral!
Liked the double screen and I’m getting better at understanding FastCammy lol but you don’t talk that fast any way. Thanks for the great video ✌️
Glad you enjoyed it Aiessa, and found the double screen interesting 👍
Great video
I enjoy your natural speech... if I don't understand it makes me research. Thank you for sharing. How's the pup coming on?
I love listening to you talk, and I missed a few, but I got some correct lol
Very good Linda 👍
It actually works for my cc when you are slower but you are a busy guy!
You did an excellent job with your vocabulary... thank you thank you thank you, and this from a Bonafide East Tennessee Hillbilly! 😁✌🇺🇸
Cheers!
I really enjoyed the scans!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Don't worry about your accent!!! I do quite well catching your meaning!!! I would love to know more about how you train your sheep dogs. Do most farmers train their own dogs or is this a service you pay someone else to complete?
Stay safe!!!!
Thanks Cindy. I have loads of requests for dog videos so i’ll work on that!
