    ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on UA-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

It's really interesting how he does it versus Sandi. Not judging, it's a different way, housing in a barn vs open fields. His way seems a lot more labor intensive k guess. I'm surprised he doesn't have many more subscribers! It's all fascinating, and they both work so hard!

Well yes because he actually has a clue what he's doing. Sandi Brock spends more time whining about her "hard life" than working.

So I shared this video with a friend who is dealing with a lamb with entropian eyes at the moment. She showed her vet and they have just used it on her lamb, the vet not having done this with sheep before, only cattle. The Sheep Game, educating vets of the world (especially in Australia)! 😊

Entropion is more serious than many realize. The eyelashes can scratch the cornea, and cause permanent damage, even blindness. If this condition happens to your dog, the vet will not only have medicines for the eye - your dog will be wearing the Cone of Shame til the eye heals. I can’t even imagine what might happen if a lamb had to wear a cone!

  • @patpierce4854

Cammy, the girls all start talking to let you know they missed you 🐑😊! The sounds from moms and babies aren’t too loud for us to hear what you are saying. Besides, my two dogs always perk up and come over to watch the videos whenever they hear your sheep talking.

"British Sheep & Wool" which is put out by the British sheep board to learn more about their usages (ie. meat or fiber). It is all fascinating. Thank you for sharing.

Another trick for the entropy (in-turned eyelid). If you pinch the bottom eyelid quite hard it causes a bit of swelling and keeps the eyelid the right way round without a needle. Doesn't work every time but quite often its enough. Another good video Cammy. Looking forward to your shearing season.

    • @TheSheepGame

yer turned in eyelids Cammy, ye can use michel clips too just pinch the skin wi the clip and it keeps the eyelid turned out too 16mm clips i use.....and if its a ewe lamb i dont keep her for breeding i give them a lug mark when i find it ..

    • @TheSheepGame

Not connected to the video but if any sheep farmers can help with this?
Today my wether horned Cameroon sheep had his entire horn ripped off during a butting match. The vet gave antibiotics and sprayed the nub left. But no pain killers and this evening the sprayed nub has half rubbed off with more bleeding. What can I do or is it ok to just leave him be and wait for it to heal? Sorry for adding an unrelated comment but in my country they don't really do much for farm animals so any advice welcome 🙂

I keep a bottle of oxytocin on hand for retained placenta's. 1ml will help her contract to release it.

Ah that would be handy, not something I've used but I have heard it's very good for a couple things at lambing time

Remember not all of us know all the breeds yet. This is my third video since I got up today at two it's three twenty am. When I first got on my laptop from being on my cell phone you know when you see a bunch of different videos to see all I saw was yours. I still haven't heard your name clearly

I've had dogs with entropion, never seen it treated this way.

Just now seeing this. Endotropin can be easily treated without a needle or penicillin. All you need is a rubber band wrapped around the lamb's head, below the eyelids, to turn them out. For how long? It depends on how severe it is and whether you're dealing with one or two turned-in eyelids. It can be fixed in as short as 6 hours. In some cases it make take 24 hours. But I would FAR prefer using a rubber band to turn the eyelids out to trying to inject penicillin around a lamb's eye. There is no need to risk a needle near a lamb's eye.

Hi Craig, that’s a great idea and one i’ve never seen. I’ll try it this spring! Thanks. This method of injecting is the method the vets use 👍

Happy to help, Cammy! I regularly saw turned-in eyelids when I had Corriedales, but once I got out of the Corriedale business and switched to Lincoln Longwools (that was about 12 years ago), I haven't seen it once. I am glad to not have that problem anymore. So yes, just buy an assortment of rubber bands of different sizes. Depending on the size of the lamb's head, you may need a medium-sized or wide rubber band that is strong and large enough to wrap tightly around the lamb's head, just below the eye, and pull the eyelid out. I never had any kind of infection from using a rubber band, either. Also, the biggest advantage of this method is that one person can do it. Using a needle and penicillin is a two-person job.
Good luck, Cammy! So glad I discovered your channel. I enjoy your vlogs very much. Best wishes!

So nice that you responded. Another stupid question. What's the difference between an older lamb and sheep? Why do you call it lambing if sheep are birthing lambs? I'm totally confused.😮

😅 good question. Anything under 12 months old is sold as lamb. After they get their adult teeth they become adult sheep and you get less money for their meat.

The Herdwicks belong to the farm owners, not Cammy.

A fair few lol but these ones aren't min as Lor says =D. they belong to the farm owner Peggy so I haven't yet added Herdwicks to the flock!
