Will McAvoy slams GOP canidates (His own Party)

  • Set during the GOP primaries in September 2011.
Content owned by HBO. Characters, stories by Aaron Sorkin.
I do not own this content and am only uploading a small clip of season 2 episode 3. I find it to be a great clip and explanation of why some of us are still Republicans despite disagreeing with our parties views.

Military power was never what made the United States what it is; sure it helped set the stage, but it wasn't our rifles, innovations, technology, or anything else anyone wants to plug in here that advanced the United States to where it is today.
The singular thing that has made this country the global leader that it is, is diversity. Diversity in thought, diversity in background, diversity in how to operate. We may be all disconjointed about each other. That is a good thing. It's a chance to learn something new. All of those things above that put this country at the forefront of the world, our diversity gives all of us a chance to take that next step, make that next leap. You have something to offer for someone else to learn, and someone else has something to offer that you can learn.
No one, and I mean NO ONE, has anything that resembles the demographics of diversity that we have. Be kind to others and be kind to yourself.

It still blows my mind that people believe this rumor without bothering to do 5 minutes of research, so two quick comments:
      1) The only films he worked on between 2011 and 2017 were the Steve Jobs biopic (which he wrote the script for WHILE simultaneously working on The Newsroom) and Molly’s Game (which only began development a few weeks before the series finale of The Newsroom).
      2) Sorkin himself has said that the reason he ended the show (among other factors that had nothing to do with other projects on the horizon) is that they had caught up to real-world events, and that the show would lose something if they were trying to discuss events from 3-4 months prior as opposed to a year or more (I’m paraphrasing that last bit).
I miss the show too, but saying Sorkin abandoned it to work on a new film is ludicrous. (I saw somebody the other day say that he abandoned the show to work on The Social Network, and it’s like… you do remember what year that movie came out, right?)

@@alphanerd7221 Let me clarify... the "IN-UNIVERSE" pacing of the show and news events they were covering is what was catching up to the real world. When season 1 started, the events they were covering (BP oil spill, Arizona immigration bill, etc) had occurred over two years beforehand; when season 3 finished, the events/characters/etc. were now just about 9-10 months behind from the real-world present day at the time.
That said, doing another quick Google search, I can't actually find any interviews where they specifically referenced that being a reason, so maybe I'm just completely misremembering some random comment from years ago 😅 The point is that any/all of the reasons Sorkin or the other leads have given in interviews for why the show ended, are all MUCH more plausible than "he 'abandoned' this show for whatever movie he was making at the time". (Also, like... no writer/director/etc. is *obligated* to keep making a show for years/decades if they feel like the enjoyment they get out of it isn't worth the energy they're putting in. That's not rocket science.)
