- Yesterday I visited Yishun, one of Singapore's most dangerous hood (but apparently that's a local joke). So today, I came to Tanglin. This area is known for incredibly expensive landed properties. I heard that the rich people live here, so I decided to see how it's like. Check out what I found.

Our culture is just so different from Japan lol. There they enforce law and have to abide to them, part of it due to their brought up. Here we create laws and break them for convenience lul

But i guess in every country, there will always be a mixture of different groups. Pretty sure there are some singaporeans who will stick to traffic light laws instead of jaywalking as well. Weird world we live in

A couple of tips if you visit this area again:
1. You can only see Command House from the Kheam Hock road entrance.
2. The cheap and good hawker center for that area is Adam Road Food Center

14:55 I searched it and it is a mansion belongs to a Bruneian Prince, Prince Jefri Bolkiah. And that is written in Arabic Language أَرْوَى reads Arwaa. 😊 Not tamil/hindi~
That huge mansion with the word "ARWAA" is an Arabic word. This mansion belongs to the Brunei's royal family.
Those houses that are "Good class bungalow " are around SGD 30 Mil for the cheaper ones.
eh... I do know of one that is selling at 16 million. It's hard to tell a range since landed can go as cheap as 1-2m and condo can go as high as 100m.
@@csy897 good class bungalows are not considered to be any ordinary bungalow or landed property. they are relatively more expensive like what he said.

The area is considered a good class bungalow (GCB) enclave. Average pricing is actually more around the SGD 40-50M, inclusive of cost to rebuild as most buyers will redesign the entire property
If you want the really swanky stuff, visit Sentosa Cove! Some of them look like they are built using left over material from the sets at Universal Studios.

These landed houses in Orchard are occupied by Old Money rich, if you watched Crazy Rich Asians. They have been living in these good class bungalows for many years since the colonial times. They do not bother to renovate their houses but they are loaded with old money.

I am enjoying your vlogs on Singapore. I appreciate your comments on how the foreign workers are the support of Singapore. I think it is true but not many are appreciative of how much they have contributed to our society.
Actually the houses in that area start at closer to US$20M than $10. Also, just before you mentioned the BMWs and Porsches, a Ferrari Portofino went by. That car costs almost US$1M in Singapore.
High end BMW 500k, high end Porches 1m, Ferrari starts at 1m.but honestly even if you live in landed. It is not common to find Porches and even harder to find Ferrari.
@@armistice2358 May not be common in regular landed properties (which start around SGD$2-3M for a terrace house outside of town area), but it's almost standard in GCBs (Good Class Bungalows, which start at SGD$20M+). This area is GCB-only.

Tiong Bahru Bakery provides way overpriced fare which I can easily make at home and at better quality and taste too!😅 Of course the ultra rich living in the vicinity will think otherwise, $10 for a croissant 🥐 is like 10 cents to them. Their lifestyle befits their earning power, fortune and high net worth. In truth, if I’m super rich and live in abundance, I’ll think about how I can give to people who have less instead of how I should add on to my abundance.

Can I recommend you pay a visit to the Japanese Cemetery at Parry/Phillips Avenue area.
You probably will be surprised by it's existence.
Once I was on a bus from botanic gardens and passed by a huge landed house. I saw about 4 or more helpers all dressed up in the same uniform taking out the garbage and cleaning the front yard. I was pretty amazed because I've only seen maids in fancy uniform when I watched movies and tv shows! Thanks for making these videos and adding English subs (I hope you can add them to more videos), they're quite interesting ^^
If you are really interested to see many condos and landed properties like everywhere, this is a pinpoint of the center area 1.318520, 103.800326 and near that area where you can eat is at holland village or less populated area is at farrer road
I wouldn’t go as far as to say there isn’t any racism in Singapore - you’re probably not on the receiving end of it because you’re Japanese. Stereotypes in Singapore feel much more real than in the US where there’s an active attempt to surface the issues. Singapore does seem quite content to say all is well when in reality it isn’t.

That 'arwaa' mansion has ties to the Brunei royal family. It was said the price tag on it was $120 MILLION. Who knows what it is now. And one of the houses on the hill is said to have sold for $300 MILLION. So many zeros.

Most landed houses are in inconvenient areas because it is assumed that those can afford it have multiple cars or can afford taking a taxi anywhere

As someone who grew up in a landed house, I much prefer to live in a HDB as I do now, it is really more convenient, and I get a nice city view from my high floor unit.
+zzajizz HDB flats is not friendly for pets lovers also. Cats is not allowed in HDB, not sure why only cats while dogs is okay.
if you want to do open air BBQ its also not possible.
@@lingth From what i heard is because dogs don't mind being kept indoors, while most cats will want to roam outside the house for a couple of hours everyday which some residents might not like.

Some of these "houses" might be just foreign consulate . Actually , the rich houses are located along Bukit Timah road .
U can go to 2 Ridley Park. The house is god damn BIG and there are many super cars.

the houses along Mountbatten road are also insane. if you go deeper in the side roads, you literally see castles!
The people residing those bungalows at Thomson are rich too
Ghibli Ojisan🙋🏻♀️, Bukit Timah area and Holland Road area are where the rich people live in. 🌿You go to 452 Holland Road, you can see those large bungalows there. That is where my cousin lives in. 😅 (That is actually called the Old Holland Road area).
The other "rich affluent" areas are like Greenleaf Avenue, Green Leaf Road area, Coronation Road West, Leedon Road etc. ➡️All these are along the Bukit Timah road stretch. Hope this helps. ➡️Many of Singapore's ministers also live around the Bukit Timah area.

シンガポール駐在時代は自転車を持っていたので、よく同じように高級住宅巡りをしていました。セントーサのCOVOは凄いですけど新しいので、森の中に佇む豪邸などは趣きありましたね。今度はTanjong PagarやOutrum Parkあたりのショップハウスにレンストランやバーが集中してますので、夜のパトロールもしてみてください。かなり雰囲気よくておすすめですよ。
that area you went to (which does have a lot of the higher class caucasians) is called Dempsey, it's relatively close to botanical gardens
Some of the places in Singapore where you can find the biggest houses ever are the so-call 'Good Class Bungalow' area... they are at places such as Oei Tiong Ham Park, Chatworth Park, Raffles Park, Swiss Club Road, Ridout Park.They change hand at about S$19M to S$30M? About there...
And you can also visit the nicest HDB flats in Singapore... Google for 'Sky Terrance @ Dawson', 'Skyville @ Dawson' and Ponggol Waterway. Skyville @ Dawson have a 47th roof top that anyone can go up and enjoy the view. No other in Singapore. The 'Dawson' is nearby Queenstown MRT station. You can Google for photos on these 3 places. The most 'wow' HDB flats in Singapore.
日本大使館があるNASSIM ROAD付近も最近はどんどんマンションが建っていますが、古いヴィラもまだ残っていて独特の雰囲気があります。新興ボタニックあたりよりはもっと古くからの本当の富裕層がいたところです。

There are quite a lot of big houses or even mansions of rich people in South East Asian countries. I like this series. Please explore some more. About the 'no racism' in SG, I'm not sure if it's true, maybe just on the surface.

Your research is good, your facts are mostly correct (as far as I know haha). The income disparity between rich and poor is huge in Singapore unfortunately because unlike Japan there’s no minimum wage system here. So yes the rich live in a totally different world. Many landed houses in Tanglin area do not belong to Singaporeans. Ambassadors or very rich foreigners own them. Rich Singaporeans stay in houses in Bukit Timah, Mandai, West Coast, Thomson etc, further from Orchard. HDB flats prices have risen 10 fold since 1980s and our income cannot match up, making Singaporeans poor and not having enough money to retire.

先日旅行で訪れた際、カトン地区でプラナカン様式の住宅を散策していた時も立派な住宅をたくさん見ました。
プラナカン様式の家よりも見応えがあった気がします。
あのエリアはどんな人達が住んでいるのか？と思った記憶があります。

There used to be a hawker centre in Tanglin in the 1990s, right next to Gleneagles hospital. It was torn down to make way for development. You can't find much information on that though as the Internet was in its infancy and there was no Google/Wikipedia. The most advanced gadget we owned back then was a Motorola pager.

アメリカもそうですが、安全・静かな生活のほうが重要なんでしょう。
違うジャンルの動画を携帯電話で見ていたんですが、Ghib Ojisanのベネチアの動画が目にとまり、私は3回ほどベネチアには行ったことがあるし、食事もワインも美味しかったので、楽しく見てました。ところで私はスイス在住でクリスチャンであり、シンガポールに住んでいる牧師さんがメッセージする日曜日礼拝にUA-cam参加しています。その礼拝所はSt.George‘s 教会でして、思いもかけず教会の内部を見る事ができ嬉しかったです。ありがとうございました！.

these are good class bungalow. they cost minimum more than 20 million sgd each. not 10 million. 10 million can only buy a smaller detached homes in non gdb areas.

絶対駅からは少し離れてるんだよな。
キリニ―ロード近くのLloyd road にあるLioyd’s In というホテルの裏はかつてリーさんがお住まいになっていたお屋敷があったんですよ。一つ後ろの道路にはセキュリティーが２～３人いつもいました。カメラを持ってうろうろしていたら、怒られた記憶があります。

デンプシロード辺りは昔からのお金持ちが住んでいます。複数のメイド、運転手、ガーデナーがいてプール、ジム付き。車は５台くらいでもちろんポルシェ、スーパーカーもあります。中華系は家の中にも滝のように水を流して風水を取り入れてます。あと支社長クラスだとコンドのワンフロアが家になってます。
大使館クラスの人はsixth avとかホランド手前の一軒家、小さめですがプール付いてましたね。
レベルがすごすぎる…笑
オーチャードタワーの裏山が最高級の住宅街なんだね。
WW2以前に英国軍将校が邸宅を持った流れっぽいね。
