    You should go try Sungei Road Laksa. That's a dark horse for one of the simplest and yet, best. It has the most old school taste and feel.

      @@TheLostOjisan Locals actually more or less agree that Sungei Road Laksa is better, 328 is more famous because it won the Gordan Ramsay challenge. 328 was really good like 20 years ago, they didn't cut on the ingredients. After the challenge they kinda reduced the ingredients but increased the price. The soup is also not as flavorful as it used to be.

    bak chang (rice dumplings) have different types the one you had that is sweet is the nyonya type. there is the original one which is a little salty . then there is bean filled and a empty (no fillings) which mostly pple like to dip it in sugar. the stall you went to is a famous stall. a little pricey thgh.

    You can tell it's a good laksa when the diner almost finish the soup before the noodles, it's all about the soup.
    Btw i saw your pasir ris vlog in your main channel. I will like to recommend 2 food dishes (Chicken rice and handmade noodles) located in a small coffee shop around the HDB area. They close by 3pm to 4pm so you have to get there earlier if you want to try it. When you order chicken rice, remember to self-serve your soup and for handmade noodles, order U-main. The noodle is famous for its soup and ingredients.
    The address is: 440 Pasir Ris Drive 4, #01-13, Singapore 510440

    I believe the reason why the laksa thick beehoon are cut into shorter pieces, this is so that eaters will use spoon to scope and eat. When you scope, you will get the gravy soup too, and thats where you get the complete taste of it. By the way, that shellfish inside laksa is cockles. It has a bloody taste, which really isn't something everyone may like.
    Kim Choo. They are one of the oldest and popular brand selling nonya bak chang and kueh. Peranakan is the ethnic group which the early Chinese from China traveled and settled down in areas like Melaka, Penang, Singapore, and marrying the natives. Nonya means the Peranakan women, Baba is the Peranakan men. Bak chang can be explained as rice dumpling, which is link to the Duanwu Festival (some called it Dragonboat Festival). That is history related to it, but long story.... 😛

    • @sdqsdq6274
      @sdqsdq6274 4 роки тому +2

      you are wrong...
      the reason why spoon is used , because its illegal laksa push cart stores many many years back , people will squat and eat at the streets , to facilitate easy escape for the hawker , customer will eat faster , lol

    • @ixactan69
      @ixactan69 4 роки тому

      @@sdqsdq6274 oh I see I see. I was thinking too much into how the food can taste better.. haha my fault

    • @alexsolosm
      @alexsolosm 4 роки тому

      @@sdqsdq6274 That is true. But the main reason is, these street hawkers dont bring tables around with them, and some of them don't even use carts, but carry their limited stuff using sticks on shoulder. So the customers have to carry the bowl in one hand to eat, and they can't use both chopsticks and spoon. Spoon is better since they can use it both to eat the noodles and drink soup. That's why the vendors cut up the noodles for them. My father used to sell noodles on the street when he was young, and he explained it to me in the past :)

    You should try Janggut Laksa. It is run by the daughter of the original owner who set up shop in the 1950s along East Coast Road. Junggut means beard in malay and this guy had hair that grew out of a mole on his chin. He was the one who popularize katong laksa. Currently their main outlet is at Queensway Shopping Centre where his daughter is overseeing but they have an outlet at Roxy Square which is opposite that 328 Laksa where you went. 328 Laksa opened much later probably around 1970s as a competitor to Janggut Laksa and went on to open branches very near them.

    シンガポールに行くと必ず行きます
    328が有名ですが、カトンエリアの周りの店のラクサもそんなに悪くないですよ
    ひどいとこのは食べ終わると胃もたれしますからね
    ラクサは元々屋台料理から発展したもので、作り方を見ればわかりますが、麺をゆでる鍋がないんです
    器の中に麺を入れて、そこに熱いスープをかけて戻してを繰り返して麺に火を入れます
    温めるだけで良い麺を使っているんで、そういう作り方ができるんです
    それに麺が短く切ってあるのも、屋台の名残で使い捨ての器とレンゲだけあれば食べれるようにしてるんです
    旅行者にとっては、中に入ってるクラム(生剥きあさり)が半生なのでお腹壊すかと抜いてもらう人は多いようです
    珠金も偶然ですが行きました
    デザート系のもんばっかり食べてちまきを食べてこなかったです
    悔しい
    ここで分かったのは、ココナッツを細かく切ったの(名前忘れました)は好きじゃないってことです
    プラナカンのデザートあんまし好きじゃないようです〈泣〉
    ジュ-チャットRDをユーノス?だったかな、方面に行く通り沿いが夜の怪しい歓楽街ですが、個々の通りに名店が多いようです
    是非こちらもレポートを

    わー!カトンにいついらしたんですかっ。
    私はすぐ近くに住んでいて毎日そのあたりを歩いているので、
    通行人として映っていないかどうか目を皿にして見てしまいました。
    カトンには大きなコンドがたくさんあって、日本人がたくさん住んでいますよ。
    我が家のおすすめは328ではなく、通りの向かいのRoxy SquareにあるOriginal Katong Laksaの方です。コクがあってこちらの方が断然美味しいと思っています。次回いらっしゃる時はぜひ試してみてくださーい。

    You'll want to try Janggut Katong Laksa. It's just opposite this 328 outlet. It's WAYYYY better than 328. 328 is just using the name of "Katong Laksa" but it sucks. They're inconsistent. I can go 1 day and it's really bland then go the next week and it's salty af. Do give Janggut Katong laksa a try. It's the original Katong laksa that got its glory (and stall space) stolen by 328.

    328 Katong Laska actually bought the recipe fron the original Laksa owner. I prefer the original Katong Laksa. It is at Roxy Square Level 1. You just need to walk though the class door beside a travel agency. The glass door is under the escalators of roxy Square

    先々週328行きました。その後マリンパレードラクサに入り直しました。10年前に比べると店はきれいになってましたが、食べると、あれ?って感覚でした。あの日はたまたまかもしれませんが、ヌルいし…

    I heard the japanese also celebrates the dragon boat festival and having rice dumplings. I still can't put my fingers on it whether that's true🤔
