    They say the resistance on the VLOM should be 11 to 18 ohms. I purchased a brand new Dorman updated VLOM and the resistance is about 24 ohms for each of the inner prongs and the outer most prongs together read around 14 ohms. Is this correct?

      It's 14-17ohms from what I've seen. Why not just shut off AFM in the tune for $50 and have less problems and expense?

    I'm not showing CEL or throwing a code. Can it still be a colapsed lifter?

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  3 роки тому +1

      It could but its not common and you would have to be babying it. If it is partially collapsed it wont open the valve enough during heavy load and cause it to misfire. Check misfire history in the live data of a scan tool to see if it has a cylinder showing a history of misfires. Check for broken manifold bolts.

      @@CrazedPerformanceRepair thank you for the response. After ordering your kit it has arrived. I have both valve covers off and there is no play in the rockers after rotating the crank several times. I have an inexpensive scanning tool showing no codes, but the sound when running is nearly identical to the other videos online with a collapsed lifter. Is there somewhere I can borrow an advanced scanner? Where do I go from here?

    My vlom was crazy loose. was able to remove all bolts with 2 fingers. wasn't able to free my #1 lifter. inspected the can shaft and it looks ok. plan to remove heads, replace all lifters and have heads resurfaced and cleaned up. changing all of my gaskets and should have a nice running engine. i will modify the vlom as instructed and plug up the oil port. the recommended programmer is a great bargain.

    Man last to i did was loose i have all aluminum block 243 heads im doing now. It was barely ticking and 1 bad lifter after a atf flush no tick great oil pressure. An they insisted all new lifters both sides all new lifter i ran atf threw it no missing after that. But since i put new lifters in it it is raddling worse than it was. I tore it back down the drivers sides good i put newer 2014 n up vakve cover on that side. Now I have to go to pass side,but i noticed on lifter bore those holes are opposite. Do you think they may have spun in the block.

    Thanks for all your videos, I've learned a lot. I just rebuilt a 5.3 put in new lifters, pushrods, oil pump, and VLOM. When I start up, it sounds like a sewing machine. I have 50 lbs oil pressure, and oil coming out of the rockers. Is it possible I got a bad set of lifters? One of the lifters was collapsed when I got it, I replaced it with one of the old lifters. Hey hopefully you can give me some insight. Got a 2012 Silverado. Been getting p0521 and p0300. Sometimes p0305. I replaced all plugs, wires and coil on cylinder 5 and swapped injectors but no difference. Still getting a misfire. I just checked the vlom bolts up front and they were finger loose. So my question is what to do moving forward. I might replace the vlom but it’s weird I was getting a misfire code on cylinder 5 which is not one of the cylinders the vlom controls. I also did a compression and leak down test on cylinder 5 which checked out ok. Looking forward to any advice. Been chasing problems on this truck for awhile.

    I'll just go ahad and say it, any engine with AFM no matter what brand what year, buy the plug in AFM delete from Range Technology, plug it into you OBD port (5 seconds) and be done with that shyt. If you want a 4 banger buy a 4 banger. The 200 bucks for the RT plug is soooo worth it...Roost

I have a 2010 tahoe flex fuel and I had an oil pressure issue when warm would idle at 19lbs with faint passenger lifter tick. Found out pinched oring on pickup tube now oil pressure is where it should be. The tick now is intermittent but I was watching this video and was like hmmm I'll pop my hood and reach down and low and behold front passenger bolt loosened with fingers. If I tighten them to spec do you think tick will stop or more then likely lifters collapsed. Thanks for you channel keep it up

    If this is a factory error then why has GM not recalled this
    the oil leak can start a fire like it did in the 2000-2005 Wbody and others with the 3800 series engine(remember they HAD 3 RECALLS for the same EXACT issue )
    there has been a few fires all ready because of oil leaking burned a couple of houses down

  • @mph5896

    Why not just use a smaller steel dowel to hit on the lifter? Also that wear on the push rods and rocker arm is from lack of oiling. I have seen it quite a few times, especially on the older Chevy engines like the 5.3l with high use. A high volume oil pump can restore oil to these parts in a worn engine.

The truck only needed 1 dod lifter at most. But i did what they asked. An i put new screen n oilsending unit In it. Now after lifter changes n head gaskets raddling worrse then it was. (Vlom was loose in front like normal) i cleaned the surface good all new head bolts. Torque all rite an i went to new valve cover for like 2014 model. Vlom gasket looked good. Any ideas.
