It’s so bad that people are making you feel hounded when you are always so busy! They need to remember UA-cam is secondary to your actual business! Love seeing Rob getting so excited when a non-runner starts 🤣
Never seen Rob so happy dare i say even more than when he got the Lambo , watching him all excited and buzzing made the video for me. Great video as always guys thank you.
Guy's don't have to explain to us. Just keep doing what you are doing. I personally love them. I always feel made up for you guys when it all goes together.
Great news on the Bentley lads!!!! With regards to the way things are filmed, I’m extremely happy as I’m sure a majority of the subscribers are with the way you do it. You both put in so much hard work and I’m just grateful this channel exists and we get to see what you do.
I could feel your genuine joy when that turned over. Glad it’s going in the right direction now. As ever, loving the channel and content. You often mention about video lengths being too long but I’d rather watch you and Chris for an hour than some rubbish on Channel 4. Far more entertaining!
Rob, I agree with Barry I grinned when Chris said " It depends how much you're going to waffle" classic. Also was the mileage 19148 miles. Great video as always gents.
You're excitement when it fired into life is why I love this channel! It shows how genuine you are! Glad the Bentley is finally getting closer to being back on the road!
Absolute top video, love the true reactions Chris “depends how much your going to waffle 😂, your reaction every time when an awkward motor starts is priceless & finally how big is your black book of contacts 👍👍
First button I press on my iPad in the morning is the UA-cam button the second is the SRUK button. Please do not change a thing it is ideal the way it is. Now I must not start waffling!!! Without doubt the best duo on UA-cam. Cheers,
As always, top notch video and a great update. One of the features of this channel is the format and fact that it’s raw - don’t need any GoPro or fancy editing, just keep it real as you do. Thanks for the ongoing efforts in providing excellent content, stay safe Gents, Cheers 👍🏽🙂
Hi guys, I'm an elderly man nowadays but I've been around cars all my life in an amateur way, built a few rally cars, reshelled a few fords, did a lot of rallying as a driver and organiser ect, now I'm retired I can't begin to tell you how much I look forward to your videos, your two great lads, so infectious and honest, keep up the good work, you make my sunshine 🌞🌞
Absolutely fantastic as always. Rob, you and Chris don't have to explain yourselves. You both do a job 100 percent. Joy to watch. Fantastic video, as always. 👍🏻
Big cheesey grin on my face too 😁 Was a joy to hear it fire up. Said to my wife "Babe, do you want a Bentley?" 😁 Well done Chris and Rob. Moral of the story: DONT JUMP YOUR CAR THE WRONG WAY ROUND 🤦♂️ ......Toaster lol
I'm impressed that you have stayed with it for so long, I would have given up by now. Big up to Chris - suggested it might have been a reversed polarity problem in the very first video. He's a clever old so and so and no doubt about it. Hope you make a good profit from this one. You guys deserve it for your dogged determination and running around all over the place.
The lovley way you boys tackle these projects with such a methodical analytical aproach... Using those years of experience. you where always gonna crack this one.
You are spot on about editing and go-pro etc. Content is king, if you have good content (and you do), then people will watch it even if the filming/editing/sound is a bit poor. I have watched plenty of youtubers who use lots of expensive cameras, high end computers and fancy editing software and do a great job editing, and whilst the content might be nice to watch, often, it lacks any 'action' (bit like most of TV).
Nice. Nothing like that feeling when a car you've spent days on making little headway finally kicks into life. Good going guys. Made up for you both on this one.
Rob……that feeling when the ‘B’ started on the first turn of the key…..I was right there with you fella 👍🏻 There’s no better feeling than hearing a motor spring into life after so much toil & frustration. Just….keep on doing what you’re doing (Chris as well)…..2 absolutely decent, genuine, straight up blokes, doing a great job, with no bull 🙏🏻❤️
I’ve said it before, you guys do a fantastic job of entertaining us and acquiring projects to keep us entertained thank you both for all your hard work and dedication to this channel which I know makes you far less money than it would in the USA 👍🏻🏴
Glad you have been able to move to upmarket cars 🚗 and able to elaborate with those services able to cater for them. Hope it produces a satisfactory turnaround for both of you. Regards Vernon.
"depends how much you're gunna waffle" 😂😂 class 👌 Totally fried that ecu, definitely toast 😂 Love your enthusiasm when it fired Rob, massive step forward!! Good luck getting the rest sorted 👍
I agree, Don't change your video style, it is what it is 95% of youtubers get popular and then just start getting vanky with long intros, camera angles and music. Long arse waffling updates etc etc. Dunno who keeps asking about stuff, never see it that much on youtube, must be instagram. Be true to what made your channel great is what I say.
Quite frankly, those Bentley "Specialists\dealerships" should be ashamed of themselves. Why don't these overpaid people want to own the problem and desire to get to the bottom of it? To plug in and say "No communication, can't help" says it all. They haven't got a clue if "computer says no". They know nothing. They should be consulting with the factory and expanding their abilities and knowledge. Shame on them.
@Paul Desmond. Yeah, "fitters" replacing failed or broken parts. Not proper motor engineers/electricians/technicians in the 21st century. Can't see them graduating into the world of electric vehicles, can you? Stay safe and well.
they don't get enough ecu work to specialize - if the first fault is no coms then you are opening up a hornets nest that needs someone like diag dan to fault find it - if you watch his channel, you'll see that the most unconnected issue can cause the most unsuspected faults.
Brilliant to be back on the Bentley, been waiting for this one , nearly there guys with this one, compulsive viewing, credit to you both, for fantastic videos ,thanks guys
Absolutely made up for the pair of you ! Hearing that thing fire made my day, still can’t believe a car like that doesn’t have a fusible link to protect the ECU from frying but like you say maybe somebody stuck 24v up it ! Great vid guys , wish you all the luck in the world with this one 👍
Yessssss your on it now lads 👊, im sure all your subs appreciate how much effort you put into the videos, its so time consuming but sooooo worth it 👏👏👏👏👏👏 keeps us hooked 👌👌👌
Hi guys, at last. So much excitement about the Bentley. As a retired electronics engineer, I am gobsmacked to think that a reverse polarity would cause that damage on the ECU. Electronic circuits which are prone to reverse polarity damage, are normally protected by a diode which prevents the said circuit from drawing power from a reverse connection. If it is not there on the ECU, then someone wants their backside kicking! Very king regards and keep those videos coming. Chris
@@sruk Do check the alternator...not just using a meter but by scoping it - if the rectifier pack starts to fail it will still charge and appear to be charging at 14.2V but will also inject a lot of AC into the system - normally the climate control ECU is the first to protest by shutting down and when the fault is read you'll see "high voltage on pin 31" (if I remember right)
Brilliant gents. It’s great to see progress being made and the car coming to life. What a long journey this has been. It shows the complexity of these cars, and the work ( and cost ) involved in resolving any issue. Great job guys…… Cheers
Westminster Salvage is awesome. I bought so many parts for my Arnage and Turbo R, Carl and I became friends! He shipped everything to the US. Highly recommended!
I don't want to put any sort of damper on the Bentley, but reverse polarity from a car battery can do all sorts of major damage. The burnt missing bits inside the ECU were the protection diodes which just evaporated. Good news that the ECU change has proven okay for most of it, but I think there may be many other problems caused by the battery reversal.
I think I may have mentioned this in the last video on this car. My friends Brother did the same thing on a Mercedes, it blew the big main fuse and fortunately that was all. There is a term in the electrical world it is called 'Descrimination' too complicated to go into here but provided it works as in the theory I think we may be OK. The wipers and other things work so I am hopeful.👍
When the Bentley fired up it exceeded even your usual excitement levels! Don't change a thing about the channel, it's great as it is filmed on your phone.
Good news is in short supply at the moment so thanks for sharing your joy, chaps. I've never heard you yell like that before when an engine has fired up, Rob, your enthusiasm is so infectious.
Love watching your videos guys. I do awkward repairs on circuit boards, and micro soldering repairs, I would gladly try and repair the old one for you, what do you have to lose? Let me know. Another option is I could swap the chips between the two boards for you, that would get it working with the old data…
I transferred the data on a Porsche Cayenne ECU which is very close to the Bentley ECU reading straight off the board with a piggy back to transfer imob coding data rather than send the car 600 miles to get it recoded. The mileage can also be corrected over OBD2 on these vehicles using a digiprog 3. Porsche and Bentley electrical systems of cars of this age share many common components. Alternators rectifiers are prone to partially fail injecting AC into the system, on mine causing a fault on the AC controller showing 'high voltage on pin 31'. Much of the dash is also shared with a cayenne.
Well done, we'll take any video you give out! Your waffle is of the no nonsense variety. Please tell Chris to park the van up and use this for a week, be hilarious to find out the good and bad to driving a tank like this 😅
Don’t ever play poker Rob! So refreshing to see genuine enthusiasm for what you both do. Classic line from Chris about how long you will waffle for. Best channel on you tube. !!
Rob. Chris. We love this channel as it is. Don't Go Pro! We love it just the way it is. So much variety, So much real life. Now, we're made up - yeah!!
I work in auto motive manufacturing and a bit of advice for anybody with electrical problems before you go spending money on parts. Check all cables and connectors and remove connectors to check for electrical over strees (E.OS.)on the pins of the modules. You might smell E.O.S. without having to open any modules but in this case you couldn't. I can see that the PCB is completely fried in the area where the voltage regulator blew up in my experience this will damage other modules connected to the E.C.U. but the damage will not always show immediately.
Can't beleive you edit all this on your phone, it must have a huge memory! Patience pays off on this Bentley to get it fixed, looking forward to the outcome. Brilliant update as always, thank you.
I learned this lesson year back with a VW Golf that threw a cam sensor fault then, when that was replaced, another fault and another etc. In the end we opened the ECU and found something pretty similar. Since then, an ECU check has been high on my list for anything throwing random faults.
(Depends how long you are going to waffle on Rob) Chris trying to show us the ECU lol I laughed my head off. Fantastic to hear the Bentley purr into life even for a second let’s hope the immobiliser fix does the trick can’t wait to see Chris test drive it and see the big grin o his face. Thanks for the fantastic video Rob Tom
Go Boys Go ,nice one son, some one some where will have the answers, but what a journey you don,t half put yourselves through the mill, love it., Razzo
Was just wondering about this over the weekend to find out whether it would be back to its luxury beast mode or the most expensive silver skip in the country. I am so pleased it's back on the road. It just shows you hard work and patience (and a wad of cash) pays off. Im over the moon for you 🙏🙏🙏. Hearing that engine fire up and it sounded ok too. I enjoy the quality vs quantity so please keep doing it on your phone 🤳. Good to see that big smile 😁. ATVB, Gary
there are plenty of electronic repair guys that could repair the ecu including the tracks. quite a few on youtube, very good guys out there in the repairs field.
You can’t beat or pay for all this enthusiasm. Always brilliant to watch your vlogs and see the real joy in doing what you love. Flipping marvellous. Cheers Colin
Looks like a major turning point in getting the Bentley up and running has been reached. Thank you for all of your quality content it is keeping me entertained whilst in Greece.
Hearing you cheer when it started up, and then seeing your huge grin just made my day. Your perseverance has paid off. The great thing about your videos is that they are so honest. No one else does three videos a week. Keep up the great work.
@salvage rebuilds UK - For future reference, the ECU's you have there are based on the Volkswagen type, meaning the immobiliser is either in the Cluster, OR a separate immo box which reads the code from the key. When you swap the ECU's, as long as they're identical you can open them both up and in most cases you can swap the little 8-pin chip (known as an EEPROM) inside which holds the immobiliser (actually the VIN number) data. Even thought the old ECU was cooked, it's unlikely that the chip was damaged, so swapping it over would likely still work fine. It's a 5 minute job for anyone who can solder carefully, and after doing so you've essentially changed the identiy of the new ECU to the same as the old one, and the vehicle should start fine.
So guy's that was totally worth going through the systems & finally getting on to the final hurdle. bloody awesome, love to know who reversed the polarity of the newtron flow & blow the circuit he is a plonker , mind you the " Doctor" would not have let him touch the " tardis " hahahaha ( my little joke , can't wait for the next video) sadly we get it sat morning early around 5am+😱
Never seen your channel before just stumbled across this video and feel like I have won a prize I know how long these things take. I've fast tracked and can feel your passion for the job hats off. New subscriber looking forward to more videos. Nice one man 👌
great update but ive never really thought about wot kind of viewers you have but to see the first comment and your subscribers comments is heart warming lads, great work not only is it you tube videos but more,
Hi Rob & Chris great to see positive developments with Mr Bentley the smile on your face when summing up what's gone on was priceless the smiling emoji should be replaced with a pic of you instead😁
"Depends how much you're going to waffle" Chris with the comedy gold again 😂😂
We all love a bit of Rob waffling haha
😂😂😂
Alot...But we all love it. 😄😄😄🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
Just had to laugh .. Robs got plenty of bunny…
Beat me to it Tyrone - I laughed out loud when Chris said that !
Rob's reaction bit like a lottery win, looks like another SRUK miracle is on the cards and once again Chris's dry comments are gold.
Lambo's , Bentley's , Vans , convertable's classics , scap runs , This shows got the lot keep em coming loving it.
Also shipping containers and ride on mowers. They've also done motorbikes and a jet ski.
Sewing machines next!!
And food mixers.
Chris was dam right about the reverse polarity absolutely love the passion you two have for this car a big well done.

Rob don't change the filming keep it raw and ruff edge is the best way to go that's keeping it real and that's why most people watch your channel
Always gives me a laugh and a great big smile when you get an awkward one started. Been really looking forward to this one. 10/10 as usual guys 👌

Blown away that you edit these on your phone! Wouldn't have known to be fair! Congrats on getting there with the Bentley!
Nice. Nothing like that feeling when a car you've spent days on making little headway finally kicks into life. Good going guys. Made up for you both on this one.
Amazed you produce this content editing on a phone. Proof that it's the content that matters. Brilliant!

Never heard Rob so excited when he was getting the car plugged in 😂😂 brilliant video
Glad you have been able to move to upmarket cars 🚗 and able to elaborate with those services able to cater for them.
Hope it produces a satisfactory turnaround for both of you.

"depends how much you're gunna waffle" 😂😂 class 👌
Totally fried that ecu, definitely toast 😂
Love your enthusiasm when it fired Rob, massive step forward!!
Good luck getting the rest sorted 👍
Don’t know why I haven’t watched your videos before. Watched for the first time today and I’m hooked now. Great video and great work 😊
Bravo for keeping to your standards Rob and putting content out rather than nonsense. Cracking update.

Like most dealerships they are all just fitters that work there.......computer says no......😂
They cannot be bothered unless you offer them 'loads a money' even then I think they would be clueless. 🥺
Absolutely,in an ideal world they should at least have a working 'Test' one to temp fit to the car like we've just seen to rule things in/out
@Paul Desmond.
Another awesome video guys. Better than any other TV programme. If your ever stuck and in Anglesey North Wales please get in touch.
Brilliant to be back on the Bentley, been waiting for this one , nearly there guys with this one, compulsive viewing, credit to you both, for fantastic videos ,thanks guys
It’s like music to my ears hearing it kick over. Best of luck with the project and hard works pays off eventually 😁

Wtf why would anyone do that . Don’t touch anything if you are a fool
Rob your enthusiasm and tenacity to get this lovely motor going is brilliant. Best of luck.

Looks like a major turning point in getting the Bentley up and running has been reached. Thank you for all of your quality content it is keeping me entertained whilst in Greece.
I saw that car last week on my lunch hour wander. I've had some work done there. Sorted the ABS on my BMW very efficiently.
