I live in Canada in the Alberta Rockies. Baffin Island amazes me on how untouched and remote it is. Most of those animals have never seen human life before. I am going to hike through those mountains someday. It will take a lot of money, mental strength and knowledge but I will get there someday.
Punk/metal it’s an incredible place. Baffin is an adventure of a lifetime.
@@willwaltz I bet it is man. It's really how all the mountains are named after vikings up there considering most of the mountains in the Canadian Arctic Circle are all Inuit names. As a Cree native places like this are special to me.
I HAVE BRAVE THATS HOW I FOUND YOU . YOU ARE SO LUCKY !
1 minute in and it's just👌🏽
The last shot was such a great conclusion to the whole video! Thank you for such documentation!
@@MedoRaslan Thank you for watching! Wow I can't believe I didn't see this comment, sorry!
Wow! The windswept, desolate scenery somehow reminds me of the Scottish highlands. Of course, much, much colder with much more jagged peaks.
Oo yeah they are a very similar under the surface geologically I think and have had similar weather for a lot of earth's history I think (I'm guessing-ish). I can't wait to visit Scotland in '24 for this very reason.
Wow!!! I searched Baffin Islands because I came across those pictures, I never would have though that they were taken on this trip! This place is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing.
There really are only a handful of photographers that have explored it. Pretty tricky to get to.
I'm really enjoying this. from my Living room! warm, Dry.
Haha, well good. :)
Stunning views
Thank you!
Holy, this was great! Awesome camera work, audio, everything. Super high quality my dude!
Thanks man! Love that you appreciated it so much.
What a dream place!!
Magnificent video
Thanks!
I came across the island while on google earth. One picture had mt Thor. Was such a beautiful picture. I hope to visit this island one day.
I hope you visit it too! Its a one of a kind place.
I grew up in Greenland, on the opposite site of Baffin bay :)
That's awesome! What a place to grow up.
I did this in July in the 80s from Pangnirtung to Summit Lake and back. I remember the ground in the valleys being covered with flowers so much so that it was impossible to walk without stepping on them. All in all a wonderful adventure.
Thats awesome! Summit lake area is heaven on earth. We go about a month after the flowers/green right when the season is switching over to winter, less bugs for the clients, but they do miss out a bit on the full range of colors.
Thank you for this, Will! I’ve been dreaming of this exact journey for the last five years or so. What a gift to be brought along on your adventure. I know it was no small effort to bring this all together, so thank you again!
No problem! You have to go! We'll lead a photography adventure there next year if that's something you'd be interested in. Our price includes all the travel/logistics/lodging after you get yourself to Ottawa :)
Will Christiansen, You are basically hiking a path I might once have (or have not yet?!) traveled. Probably a long shot, but I’m interested. How can. I learn more about the trip?

Im an aspiring anthropologist and have always wanted to explore the north. This is amazing footage! Thank you so much!!!
Wow, I'm amazed. I had heard that Baffin Island is beautiful, but this is off the charts. I'll be visiting the Northwest Territories in a couple of weeks, but damn I'd like to see Nunavut one day.
I haven't been everywhere, but I'm confident Baffin Island is probably top 5 most beautiful places on earth. The fact that you have the entire place to yourself (although I recommend going with at least one other person and a sat phone for safety) is a huge bonus also. Its why I started going there after Iceland and Greenland both started getting overrun with tourism in the latter 2010's.
Best outro on the internet
Most beautiful video/images of Baffin Island I have ever seen. Bravo!
Thankya :) planning on going back when I'm fit enough. Its a magical place.
Thank you.
You're most welcome :)

Fantastic! So cool to see such an isolated location in great detail, the landscape looks amazing. Glad you linked this channel on your Instagram :)
Thanks! Yeah, my longer form stuff (most video) doesn't fit into the Instagram model, so I'm trying to let people know that there is a lot of stuff to see over here. Thanks for watching and enjoying! :)
Jeez, incredible!!! I rally want to plan a trip to Baffin once Covid is a thing of the past
Wow! Thanks for do and share it
You are amazing. THIS is photography. Wow.

Thanks Randall!!
Found this video via the Windows 10 Theme that used these photos. Great job and great photos.
It's amazing scenery
Amazing video! Thank you so very very much for sharing this gem from Baffin Island landscape in the Arctic! Wishing you all the very best always and please stay richly blessed and safe! Best regards from Sweden!
Will, you are inspiration to take up photography as a hobby.
It is so fun!! Thank you :)
What an alien landscape. Love the shots you got.
Amazing movie and adventure.... Beautiful beautiful spot... Thanks for sharing these stunning landscapes !
That sounds fun
Wow, just wow brother !
Thank you!
Fantastic video.
Great effort buddy. I kinda relate to your fondness towards such adventures. I myself have been explorer of alps here in India. The more you learn about the Himalayas, they tend to get more and more mysterious. Thanks to Brave i could find you. God Speed. Ciao.
beautiful
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Byutiful 💗💗
Awesome adventure and great photos !
Ziv Fishfedder thanks Ziv!
A truly amazing film, thank you for taking the time to publish a video about this amazing place. A lot of films focus on climbing(which is awesome) but as a photographer, I love to see it from another photographers perspective, I hope to one day make it out to the area before it changes (even) more due to climate change.
Thank you again!
Ian Saucy thanks Ian! I’m actually headed back here tomorrow! Can’t wait to see the same place after a year of change. It’s changing pretty quick up there. You should plan a trip! Incredible shooting for photographers. Either Artur or I or both of us will probably be bringing photographers with us again next year.
@@willwaltz Does anyone even look into why the noon-day sun is now blinding white in color instead of the very much yellow color the noon-day sun had always been 25 + years ago. It's fascinating how people will disregard this the biggest news story of the century. I think people must be under a spell not allowing them to think about what a massive change in the suns color means. No word about it from any source yet the proof is repeatable everyday, no one speaks a word, I'm glad I'm not controlled and can see this change.
Just seen this video on the show "right this minute" on channel 7 in La. Great work!
THERAREBREED85 awesome!! Glad you like it!
Thank you so much for sharing the awesome images of this treasure of world geography.
Awesome adventure. Love hearing your thinking aloud while you work.
One of the most beautiful sites in Nunavut
great camera work!
Found this video right now, I'm form Venezuela and had a Map and always had the curiosity of "what is that island" glad I can see it from video at least
It is an incredible place. Cold, very cold, beautiful though.
Beautiful, very inspiring. Thank you from Ontario.
I love this! Well done! I work both Qikiqtarjuaq and now in Pangnirtung! I love your adventures!
Thanks Fey! I need to learn how to pronounce them properly (obviously) What kind of work?
Wonderful video, amazing scenery thank you!
Wow I feel like I was there in those mountains
I found this wonderful channel by brave browser wallpaper
Awesome video!
Beautiful and stark. Can't wait to head up there! Thanks for the awesome video! You probably coulda cut your weight without the camera and associated lenses ;)
Haha, yeah, the sacrifices we make :) -- tripod, nikon d800, 70-200 lens, 14-24 lens, 20 batteries = 18 lbs
er, D810
Damn that place looks wild! No one around for hundreds of miles
well he was always less than 100 km from one of 2 towns so not no one for hundreds of millies
Wow- I want to go! Thank you!
Time to go then!
I found out about you because one of your photos was featured on my brave browser. Cool video.
Awesome! Yeah, its been fun working with the Brave team on a few things over the last couple years. They're a good group pushing the internet forward.
Nice video, l enjoyed it. The wife and l are considering going after the summer and do a similar trip as yours. We're used to hiking in Scandinavia which is pretty much the same: cold and wet, above Arctic Circle (same latitud, too, check Tromso). My idea is to cross Baffin Island alone in winter, we'll see what life has in store for me. Regards from DC!
Looks like a harsh country that's reluctant to show its pretty side, all the while keeping you dangling with cloud play and a cold welcome. Will you did a phenomenal job in difficult conditions.
Baffin Island is now officially on my hit list!
Awesome!
Respect
What an incredible video!
Max Chill thanks!!
Really beautiful video! Thanks for the incredibly personal perspective and inspiring time lapses!
Brave brought me here, love what you're doing - you got a sub 👍
Welcome to Nunavut!
nice
I remember running across your image on reddit. I actually PMed you asking about your trip! I didnt know that you recorded a vlog. This is awesome! I'm currently torn between Nahanni, Tombstone, and Baffin Island. Such a difficult decision.
Colin Zwirner oh wow yeah you may be best of just doing it alphabetically ;) coincidentally we are taking a group of photographers to Baffin this year 😊
I actually looked into your trip, and if I wasn't a med student on a strict adventure budget I would totally sign up. Maybe in the future. Tombstone seems like the least expensive option since flying into Dawson can be sub-1k. Nahanni looks like a heli drop into the Cirque of unclimbables. Baffin... Well yeah. Ill have to start saving!
SO worth it. The cost of our trip seems high, and it is, it costs a ton to get to the island (several flights and a boats involved), but the cost includes all of your travel in Canada as well as lodging the night(s) before and after the island. I hope to see you one of these years :)
Wow, didn't realize that included all accommodations. And from Ottawa! I'm about a 6 hour drive from there. That is a fantastic price, all thing considered. Ill keep you guys in mind for when im out of school!
Awesome! And you're totally going to need the brain reset I bet :) (also, we like to take doctors/nurses/emts for obvious reasons)
amazing shots here. Hopefully going to do the pass this summer. Im a vlogger in Iqaluit.
Just subbed
Awesome! You'll love it.
Hey Will have watched this video several times over the past couple years. It is fantastic. We were booked for this hike last August but couldn’t go due to the pandemic. We are now booked for this late August but still waiting on Parks Canada to reopen Auyuittuq.
Heya, do you mean you are booked to go with Artur or that you're going on your own? Either way thats awesome! I hope the park opens for ya, weird it hasn't yet, its not like there are any people there :)
@@willwaltz the park has been closed since March 18, 2020. But I was informed they may reopen in August. Two of us are doing the route on our own.
You should definitely come to Nepal next.
I would absolutely love that. I have been thinking of going to Nepal for personal spiritual pursuit, would love to experience the natural wonders too.
Really enjoyed watching this Will!
I found this place through brave, awsome place breath tasking
This video really brings out the dangerous isolation of the place.
Brave background lead me here
This is amazing. Did you see much more wildlife?
The Daily Bat thanks! Not a ton on this trip, we got attacked by an Arctic Fox on last year’s trip though. No polar bear sightings though. Lots of bunnies though. 😊
You obviously where there at the end of July. 10 months of the year it is covered with snow and ice. Try -65 degrees and 120 mile an hour wind and polar bears. Lived there for 5 years.
We always do the trip across Auyuittuq National Park Aug 28 - Sep 15. Best slot just before winter descends (there isn't much of a "fall" to speak of) but after the warmer season that has harder to cross streams/rivers and more bugs. Each day gets colder. Its an amazing experience.
Will plays Death Stranding in real life.
ahahaha. amazingly I haven't seen that comparison yet. so perfect. :)
shocked by the power of nature。。。。。
absolutely mind blowing. really in awe. thanks for capturing some of these moments. how does one go about going there? is there a large permit process to it all? and also random question, where did you get your beanie/hat? its very cool and i like the colors a lot!
i need to go
Watch your subs go up, just saw you on TV. I always felt close to my FAITH, while out in the Mountains. I have spent a lot of time in the North Cascades. My dream was to climb mountains. I became a Nurse instead, no regrets.
Janell Hammer that’s awesome! What channel? Lol. Yep, the North Cascades has the same effect on me. Connects me more, wakes me up.
Janell Hammer also, Nurse! That is a wonderfully caring thing to do in life.
Asgard, name of that flat top mountain?
I didn't know Baffin Island had once Giant Trees. Earth has alot of petrified tree stumps.
Just followed on Instagram.
👍👍👍
Can we download your brave backgrounds? Where are they?
Awesome video! What time of the year did you go? I'm planning my trip for next year and collecting info!
oooo you're going to have a wonderful time :) we had to cancel this year because of the pandemic. best time slot is Aug 28th - Sep 15th, too early in the year and the water is too high, too much after sep 15 and it becomes winter pretty quickly.
I thought Id check out Baffin land because of Tony Hancock who told Sid James he was traveling there.
Amazing video! Thank you for the report! This place is on my bucket list but I'm not fit enough just yet to hike this :)
P.S what's the background soundtrack/music you used at the very beginning?
Wow! Some of the landscapes really reminded me of Iceland and Patagonia!🔥🔥🔥
