theres a live version of take the veil where theres only bass, drums and keys roaming around, its one of the most powerful versions theres around. you can tell ikey jon and juan were the driving force of the band during that era. its a 2003/04 in the trobadour or something like... will look for it
@@aLexTaKaTuThe Troubador show from '03 where Ikey goes nuts on the organ during the end of take the veil? If I'm not mistaken, that was Juan's first show ever with them...
I tweaked it the best I could. It's still far from perfect, but it's better than it was. The audio is also now available as a remastered source on the show page via the link in the description.
Duuude I was there, thanks! I am super hyped since last week's concert in CDMX, amazing EDIT: your edit absolutely rocks planets mate! Thank you thank you thank you
awesome show and the longest footage ive seen of cicatriz with video included, awesome. a shame about the quality but the remaster is a massive improvement on what it was before
To improvise for this long is so fucking insane. Greatest band to ever fucking do it jesus christ. I'm like speechless. Every set they've ever done is so unique
Whoa, the version I have of this show doesn't include Cicatriz, never knew there was video too edit: Just saw the Cicatriz audio is from a different source so that makes sense then
The Cicatriz video and audio are both pretty rough. I think that’s why it’s not been seen as much. It’s a shame we don’t have a better rip of it cause it’s a great version.
I gotta know how does Omar switch the delay effects on his pedals wihout reaching down and messing with the knobs, Whatever it is I gotta get me a system like that.
He has multiple delays sometimes the same pedal with diff settings. He’s really insane when it comes to pedals that’s for sure. Especially in that era his pedalboard was insane and it got worse around the Amputecture era 😅
@@CarlosGomez-rt8vz the things he put together in relationship of command are out of this fucking universe, he took the melodic side of alternative rock and made it into this mangled tripped out fugazi punk delay madness, Omar is a fucking Genió as we say en Puerto Rico🤙
he had a vintage deluxe memory man with large knobs. saw him doing that live in person. it ain‘t so hard, I do it with my DOD Rubberneck Delay all the time
It's close but this isn't the source for anything off of Scabdates. The Scabdates version of Cicatriz was recorded at their next show on May 12th at the Wiltern in LA. We have a bootleg recording of it on our site, as well as all of the other dates that made up the Scabdates recordings.

REST IN ETERNITY ISAIAH “IKEY” OWENS. He was the secret sauce of the Mars Volta… especially live. Peace to the god
Agreed, Mars Volta isn't quite as magical without the squealing organ every few bars. RIP King, hope I get to meet him over there.
greatest band of the 21st century
Concertina is out of this world! Omar and Ikey were all over it. Just beautiful.
Holy shit Ikey fucking kills it AND you can hear him! Amazing. RIP

The hero we all needed
Edit: the broadcast is most likely from Telehit, a Mexican TV channel (judging from the logo on the bottom right corner)
yes it was broadcast live, i remember sitting on my moms bedroom watching it in awe
Yeah! Back then Televisa still did some interesting stuff before young Azcarraga turned it into utter crap
Came to watch the classic 34 min version that is already published and found this gem. Thanks RIP Ikey
You're seriously the best for putting this stuff on youtube. You can really hear the keys in the this mix!!

Nope. The Scabdates version of Cicatriz is from 2004-05-12 at the Wiltern in LA
