I just changed the shower curtain, towels, rugs, sink accessories and paintings in my daughter's bathroom. My friend send me this video yesterday and told me to cover the white wire shelves.. Went to Home Depot today. Had them cut 4 shelves and front facings which I attached to a 1/2 inch x 2 inch piece of wood. Picked up a stain pen to cover the edges smoked grey. Spent $27 for everything. Used wood glue versus nails since I had extra at home. Turned out fantastic. I had enough extra to make 5 additional shelves for the pantry. Can't wait for my daughter to come home from college to see the changes. Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi Denise, After seeing your video it gave me inspiration to solve my pantry issue which was exactly the same as in your video. My items constantly kept falling through my wire shelves. I purchased the panel, which I only needed 1 Of them from my local hardware store. I already had the wood that I used for the covers. I also had them cut it for me as well. End result, my pantry shelving looks amazing. Luv it, luv it, luv it. Thanks Denise.

Wow I love it! The cover over the wire shelves is a low cost great alternative. I'm doing a new construction home and one of the first things I wanted to do when I move in was change the wire shelving in the pantry and the linen closet. Now I have a simple low cost solution for those shelves. Can't wait to see the laundry room.

Covering the shelves is a great idea! I repurposed a baker's rack about a year or so ago using what I had on hand - cardboard and contact paper in marble! I love it! Now I use the rack for office equipment. Love the idea of the wood panels and might upgrade when I redecorate ❤💕

The pantry looks amazing now! For the wire and cloth bins at the bottom - I recommend a fabric underneath or some furniture slides to keep the wire from scratching up the floor and making noise when you pull it out 😊

I love the idea of covering the wired shelves with wood, makes all items well balanced.
I have a 3-tiered wired rack between my washer and dryer to hold laundry and cleaning supplies.Because the shelves have a lip that is higher than the shelves I decided to take a large sturdy box to cut pieces to sit within the lip and cover each piece with marble contact paper. I have a motion sensor light that I can place on the wall between the two lower shelves so both will illuminate when I need to see what is on those shelves.

I’m so glad I found this! All the other DIYs like this require you to cut the wood yourself with a table saw and I live in an apartment with no access to a table saw of any kind. I didn’t even think about lowes or home depot being able to cut it for me! This is perfect!

Question: did you lose an inch of plywood covering the shelf when you added the 1x2 lip? Do you need to measure an extra inch than just the length of the shelf?

Great Ideas. It also helps know the dates. I had to throw away lots of expired food because I had the soon to expire food items in the back and newly purchased food items in front .This really helps me keep food organized and not waste any food. Oh and storing grandchildren snacks

Great video and ideas. The only part I’m going to change is Glass containers for items like flour and sugar. Remember everyone, plastic containers leak plastic particles into your food. Glass is always best when the food touches the open food . 😊

I live these shelf covers. And I like the item of putting the containers in first. I have studied organization for the last 2 and a half years. I have every book on the subject, My Pinterest account has tons of folders dedicated to organizing every room and drawer type, and my phone is full of screenshots of different organizing containers and suggestions from all kinds of websites. And I haven’t seen the tip to take everything put out the space and then put your containers into the space before putting your items back into the appropriate containers. Now I’m thinking about redoing my whole system
