I only use memory cues personally to let me know what the track pattern looks like and also to move through the track however I like. They literally tell me how many bars there are before a drop, how many bars in the chorus, the breakdown etc etc without even hearing the track which makes DJing SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPER easy
@@ReallyChrisM although doing memory cues manually for 12K tracks did take me a while hahah but I made sure to backup my rekordbox after doing it because losing all that work would be horrible lol.
Awesome video! Forget the CDJ900, I played on CDJ850 last summer...proper old stuff. Had to get my old 16GB usb as it wouldn't read my newer ones. 😅 On the point for or against memory cues - I love them. I use them to map my tracks out in sections and then have a bar countdown to the next memory cue of the track. This is particualry helpful when doing three or four deck mixing. The hot cues then are just for performance and I can set them whereever I need them. Cheers
One thing to bare in mind is that cds don't have gated playback. So using hot cues only will start the track. Instead you need to press the hot cue and then use the cue button så you can match the timing or spam the button without playing..
The performance mode keyboard shortcuts are (roughly) based on cdj button layouts transposed onto the keyboard. It's a bit weird but I get why they did it - you could in theory use rekordbox and a laptop keyboard and memorize the layout to mix. Also - great tip on the dynamic mode analysis I forgot about that. Finally: thanks for the consistent excellent content and wry dry humor.
I had problems with switching between normal and dynamic analysis in the settings. Sometimes I forgot to set it back to normal and sometimes I was pretty sure, that set it back, but rekordbox did dynamic analysis anyways. I then found a better way of doing the rather rare dynamic analysis. In export mode on the right side directly underneath the waveform, there is a "menu"-button with three horizontal lines. If you click on that, a menu opens and you can do a dynamic analysis from there without changing the analysis settings.
Great video as always! Hapy New Year Chris! Man, the fact that the beat grid has only a shortcut in Performance mode and the Hot Cue is easy to set up only in Export is such a weird concept... -_-
Your video is super helpful, but i have a trouble whit some track charging, i charge the track for the first time in the deck and the neme(title) dosen't appear, is possible fix this?
I've tried changing the bpm and beat grid/dynamic, and it is still out of time. Any help? Please rekordbox got the bpm right, but the beat grid is still out of time.
have i got some sort of lock feature on because double clicking on the bpm in performance or export mode when the track is loaded doesn't do anything? Using RB 6.7.5 and just re-analysed my tunes in the range you advised? TIA!
These issues are so consistent/ often in rekordbox compared to other programs, it baffles me why ppl still prefer this over others. I know that no program is perfect but 25%+ of wrong bpm and grids gets annoying after a while.
CORRECTION: You mention MP3Tag anad Lexicon and then say "These all cost money" which is grossly unfair to MP3Tag which is free (although donations are welcomed) while Lexicon charges an obscenely expensive monthkly subscription.
@@ReallyChrisM interesting. It’s always been free on Windows. Not sure why he’d change the rules for Mac. Name is totally misleading because it can be used on WAV, FLAC etc not just mp3.

Sir your videos are ADHD goldmine. I haven’t paid this much attention in my own wedding.
I've always been manually typing the right bpm without decimals and you tell i could have just double clicked. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you so Much
I use 7 years rekordbox and I move to djay pro 5 . Game changer bro best !
Super helpful, coming at the perfect time for me! Thank you

Oh sneaky! I’ll check that out
3:40 unfortunately it happens a lot with traditional house too (late 80s-90s-some 00s), where you typically have an vocal/instrumental intro
Grimes should have watched this video

Happy new year!
You can open Preferences and set custom key shortcuts for just about every button in Export Mode.
I really wish Pio would give you the option of rounding off the BPM to a whole number in the browser. I know too many Gary's
2:13 also click the lock icon!!
Damn no mention of me telling you about the 1/2 bpm fix.
Full cred for enlightening me on this one 🔥

Sounds like the metadata is missing for the title. Check the 'i' icon on the right

you should collab with CEE B
No, don't use dynamic mode. It sucks. The BPM's aren't round numbers anymore for the most part.
Just correct the beatgrids manually on these parts.
Or just get Djay pro and your beat grid is more accurate 🤷🏾♂️😁

To be fair? Traktor is 10 years ahead of rekordbox... sucks so much... it takes so long to prepare sets here...
It freezes, so many times when I add songs to the USB... that's just not good
I'll have to buy another cpu maybe... i5 7600k can't hold this? But ultra settings single players games yeah...
SeeJays... watching screen instead of listening music.. Culture of playing music has gone forever
".......or its basically made up"
Looking at you Rekordbox with 90% of music not created in a DAW lol.
