Riki Salva There's an older and very drab recording. It can make you want to throw yourself in the water and not to get baptized if you know what I mean. Don't know who wrote it or where or when. I'm sure the info is kicking around the web. Whoever put the punch and modern arrangement is a genius.
If you didn’t know half of it was French…then your pretty much half of everyone. I can’t even imagine half of people in the 1970s without the internet thinking they’re mishearing the song.
Omg!!! Lmao!!! That is great!!! I've always known it was French. But, now that you've said that, I am sitting here singing "Ecstacy!" Every time that part comes on!!! And probably will for at least a while now. Love it!!!
I always heard "sycho killer cutyaself" and thought that made much better sense...even after seeing the lyrics after all these years .I like and sing my way
Really miss the days when Talking Heads and other New Wave and Punk bands were just starting to emerge and being played on great rock stations like WMMR in Philly. Michael Tearson, Pierre Robert...thank you for the memories you provided via an unbelieveable era in the radio and music industry; only to be eclipsed by the early 1970's and "free-form" radio programming. God!! I miss those days!!
Fellow birds fan and Fairmounter here. Left home 15 years ago, can't afford to go home, don't want to get shot by a 15 year old, and must say that you tell the absolute truth in your comment. Never thought I'd miss those two bombasts, but here I am. East Side Club forever
As a french I came to the lyrics vidéo because I heard "Qu'est-ce que c'est" and I thought what english words sound like this ? And in fact he really says qu'est-ce que c'est 😁
I use to think the song said "Psycho Killers...just can't say..." and then he would start stuttering "fa, fa, fa, fa..." because he couldn't say what ever it was that psycho killers just can't say, and then he would warn, whoever, that it was far better to just run away...followed by maniacal hollering. (I still kinda like my version better. lol)
I find it reminiscent of a few different things.... the first being the Jaws shark music. I have a healthy respect for, but am not afraid of sharks. We even started being silly with it and one of us will start vocalizing it while the other is under water, swimming up to another family member, ans bites them 😂 Not too hard, or anything, of course.... It's just hilarious. One other is a combination; I feel it could be like an in-between of the Friday the 13th "ch-ch-ch-ah-ah-ah" and the original Alfred Hitchcock Psycho stabbing scene music. The other is the music from The Thing with Kurt Russel. I definitely hear that. Maybe it's inspired by all three/four. Idk. What I do know is that bad people scare me a whole lot more than any carnivorous creature. I mean... that's the problem, isn't it? Bad people are feral animals, just smarter and more devious, even when totally insane. That's why they're scarier than any other creature.
This is a classic song by one of the most intelligent and compelling bands of the 70,80,90...hell they are timeless. Too quircky for some , but they where great. Byrne is a genius.
Random Victim: "You're that serial killer, aren't you?" "The son of Sam!" Damon: "son of Giuseppe, but close enough." Then Damon feeds on him and walks away

How many of you would mumble over the French verses, while singing along to this tune, not knowing they weren't in English. Bc we didn't have the internet to look it up that fast in the 80s. Lol😂😂😂 Still love this song! Thanks for posting this.
i love the song and still think is how ted bundy started the vw at the end going oon his trip persay. met bundy in the holding cells at escambia castle grey skull. i was held in the same cell for a few hours and what he said blew my mind. no comment love this song. oh io could be wrong but he was a p;psyco killer in a vw found at lillian 78th ave and jackson st in Pensacola where I lived. fuinny huh!!

I love that...but he didn't psycho-kill though. Revenge, pissed off, psycho..not yet imo. The night show, wouldn't work playing the song as he shot. Damn amazing sad film. If he killed someone, laughing minaiculy as he did, wow they missed that epic scene to this track. Joker sequel...this song would make a perfect theme
I saw them in 76- 77? in NYC ( the old maxi's Kansas city club) the audience was punk AF, with the standard wear' safety pins, Doc Martin's, and chic clothes from donation bins and out comes this band looking like only T.H.'s could look. we were NOT READY but we all understood this was magical. Was David a demonic evangelist car salesman or was the acid to strong? I vaguely remember they closed the show with Take me to the river.
I don't know why but the verse "you start a conversation, you can't even finish it, you're talking a lot, but you don't say anything" reminds me of my ex classmate and our relationship
Most people don't like this song because, "It's all over the place. It doesn't make sense." But they don't realize the irony of their point of view, because it's like that on purpose. It's the point of view of the psycho. Psychos wouldn't be psycho if their thoughts made any actual sense. This song came about 13 years before I was born. I grew up hearing it on the radio, whether I wanted to hear it or not. Actually, this is the first time I've ever actually listened by choice, and I did so because I always include apropos music in the books I am writing. This isn't what I was looking for as pertains to the book, but I always give a song a chance because I may have remembered it wrong or whatever... and sometimes a song can inspire a side plot that wasn't previously thought of. But I digress. Unfortunately, I attract psychopaths like flame attracts bugs. I look for the opposite, but people feel soothed around me, and they pretend they're not insane at first (never longer than exactly three weeks, ever) but eventually, of course their psychosis comes out because they can't fake it forever. And honestly, this song is so mild in every way.... I mean, actual psychos are so much more scattered and nonsensical. I'm trying to think of a metaphor that could even fit....
