The so called 'Desmodromic' Valve actuators is close to a patent by Wifredo Ricart, Spanish engineer working at Alfa-Romeo, then in Pegaso.
Perhaps 'Desmo' is not seen in production cars as it don't race at rpm high enough as to have advantages from this.
