Nice unit there, he'll like the 4900. I've had a few of them and they're good tractors, comfy large and quiet cab, good turning radius and smooth ride. They rode better than a couple KW T-880's we have, just traded out the last 4900, it was a 2019, replaced it with the latest Western Star, the 49X SB. The 49X has an even wider and taller cab than the 4900, this one has 22,000 front with 425 floats, a 22,000 steerable drop pusher and 58,000 rears. This one has the Cummins X15 605/2050 with 18 speed main and 4 speed aux with PTO and double locking 5th wheel with 72" slide, it's a beast but drives like a pickup, really great ride, better vision all around when compared to the 4900 or T-880, so far I'm really liking it a lot.
@@TheBostonTrucker You guys will like it, the 4900 is a great tractor. The 49X is basically an evolution of the 4900, a new and improved version. I'm not overweight, but I'm a fairly sizeable guy and I like a wider, deeper cab with a lot of legroom and as good as the 4900 is in that regard, the 49X is even better. Keep us posted on how you like the automatic, I'm just a bit old school as far as the 3 pedal trucks go, but I'm not against trying something new, just haven't found an automatic that works as well with ultra heavy loads and 3 stage Jake yet. The 49X is almost done, it's getting a ProTech headache rack/chain locker a Whelen strobe bar and a full set of LED load lights this week.
I like the company colors! When I drove for Worcester Sand and Gravel their fleet colors were Red cab, Black fenders, and White cab roofs. Had mostly R model Mack tractors back then, and the Black fenders wrapped around the radiator grill flowing with the body contours. They also had 3 bought used White Western Star tractors that were the newbie trucks. The Red, Black, and White looks sharp!
That is a beautiful truck the lettering came out so nice love the new stacks. Definitely keep her shining and proud won’t be able to miss that truck going down the road she’s a beauty congrats gentleman
I'm glad to finally see it. Definitely well worth all the hype you gave it pre-reveal. I really enjoy all your videos Mike! Your efforts are very much appreciated! Thank you
Stars and Kenworths were always my favorites. I start on a Pete 367sb with a cobra pup trailer on Monday, never ran a Pete before so not sure what to expect. Love the videos Mike keep ‘‘em coming!!
I've always been a PACCAR and an older Mack guy, but if I had to buy a new truck (and it couldn't be a glider) I would probably buy one of these Western Stars. I am seeing a lot more of them on the roads these days it seems, and they have a lot of room in the cab compared to a Peterbilt or KW cab.
Western Stars are so under rated everyone talks up Pete’s and KWs so much. My dad has been driving since 94 driven all different kinds of trucks his favorite truck ever was a 2003 western star 4900exhd
Richards Logging has 2 Western Stars, a98 and 99.Both have 550 cats, still going strong along with the 6 Kenworths. They're tough trucks, so are the Kws!Log hauling demands the most out of a truck here in the Adirondacks. Great video Mike, thanks.
Nice truck. I'm surprised you guys went with a Allison 7 speed instead or a dt12 or a eaton 18. I'm still not a fan of automatic. Every company going with them now in days
Sharp Ride! Glad to see they have kept the dash styling of the Star and not crossbred it with freightliner ... or gone mostly digital like Peterbilt *gag* ... Even as a automatic I'd still happily rock that ride (though I'd much prefer my 359). Safe Travels!
@@TheBostonTrucker i own a star car too... A '94... Not sure what I'll end up doing with it, is been shortened... Maybe rerail it back to a usable length. N14 15spd, 46k rears on neway suspension
I just found this video. After I made a comment on one of your other vids about the pinstriping. Lol. But still would like to know why the East Coast guys have block striping that would be pretty interesting
That Starcar is gorgeous! My work truck is a 2021 4700sf and it has been a phenomenal truck! Little bit of a forewarning from my own experience: The black inside of the W on the front emblem is very thin and won't stand up to a pressure washer, so just be careful there!
This truck is my truck and it is absolutely awesome rides unbelievable. We’ll be sure to get more photos and videos of my truck up, also can’t wait for truck show season to show it off
Looks good. Glad to see a company that still advertise when and who started the company. Around by me they can’t wait to take other family members names off.
I thought you were going to be getting a 4900EX! The SB makes me sad, but I understand driving where you do. I used to deliver to ProTech next to you guys in a 4900EX yanking a tank. Truck looks good for what it is, but I'd be looking for a new job if that was my new truck!
Looks like an older AutoCar Volvo. Nice I suppose but I love the old school look of a W9 or 379-89 or the old 359’s. Really nice truck though. Must be weird with no clutch though. I bet it’s really easy to get used to though.
I'll never buy anything newer than an 01. New trucks do absolutely nothing for me but cost me money. But there's something about getting a new truck in with fresh paint and fresh chrome (not that I'm a chrome guy per say). That painter seems like a wicked cool guy. Hope we get to see him again.
My father had a brand new western star he was driving in 2016 when he had a stroke and they took his CDL. He was very upset when they took his truck back.
Is Andrew related to the family ,nice truck always loved that model of star , to be honest i’m not into the tight cabs of a 379 or w900 i prefer at 4900 or 9900i cab and at least it’s not a 4700 they’re ugly
Pin striping is definitely a lost art, especially the New England style. My great uncle did this for a side job,he was also a Burlington, ma police officer. The one thing he told me. The first thing you do with new paint brushes. Snap the handle off for more control.
Nice ride. Enjoyed meet you at the show. Pretty cool that Bob from our company knew you for years. Take care.
Definitely was a highlight meeting you and your wife and hanging out.
Sat in one last year at the show, really impressed with the cab. Pinstriping guy is amazing, becoming a lost art!
Thanks Mark

Very nice truck 👍 love the old style paint and lettering 👍
Thank you
Pinstripes are a vanishing art!! So glad there are still artists & artisans out there to keep this classy touch going down America’s roadways!!
Sadly true
I do love the cardillo lettering, old school new england red black and lots of pinstripping, doesn't get any better than that
Definitely a New England look!
I like the black fuel tanks waxing is better than polishing aluminum plus it's different!! Nice job Anthony and tony!!-

Beautiful looking Western 🌟 .
Thank you 😊
Nice truck I got my 2022 4900sf with the DD16 600hp 18 speed in November we waited 7 months for it
What a looker, nice truck, love your videos, thanks for sharing this!
Thank you Charles I appreciate you.

Good luck with the new gig!
Thanks Mike! I appreciate it.
Gorgeous!!! I agree with you Mike - the stock stacks are just fine!!
I love to see a classic look on a new truck. Tastefully done! What in the world is a 7 speed automatic though???
Thank you, yeah not sure yet.
Allison makes one. It is like 6 speed, with a lower gear for those times it it needed.
You get your nuts cut off before driving it
18 or 13 at least for hauling in my opinion. But who knows, it might work Mr Doug.
I Have a 7 Speed Allison Automatic in my Peterbilt 348/380

Lots of companies are going with WS.
When your motor shuts down in the middle of the highway or busy road for any reason, you'll appreciate that shutdown over ride button.
🥺
Damn failed regens…
Beautiful truck! 😍😍 You're lucky to get one before they replaced it with the 49X.

@@seberry99 Yep!
I like that 4700sf model. Especially heavy spec ones. Just the DEF sucks.
The factory stacks were way better with the turnouts ....those tips blow and are water collecters ....beautiful truck though !!! Sounds nice 👍

Congratulations on the new ride !!
American!! The truck is beautiful!! The best to you!!
Thank you Juan
The Mirror Tech fender mirrors suite the truck. They look good.
I was skeptical but they look good.
Their cabs for space are like no other manufacturer hands down!!!
Not dissing any others but they are nice inside.
Tons of room!
Beautiful rig. Can’t even imagine the price tag!
I can't either.
Looks good. Glad to see a company that still advertise when and who started the company. Around by me they can’t wait to take other family members names off.
We're very proud of the family history.
What a beautiful truck
That truck came out great I think i like the curved stacks better
Thank you
Good looking western star still like the superliner best it a good looking ol bulldog
Thanks Mike
Should of hit those interior panels with pinstripes! 😎😎
Good idea.

Good Luck Andrew! Mike, how about a interview with Anthony?
I'd interview Anthony.
Wow good looking truck Mike for 31 years that only truck i use W S
Very cool 😎
Gorgeous unit! Stock stacks look good. When do you get a new rig, Mike? Thanks for showing us a proud Andrew.
Hopefully not for a very long time.
Very nice truck! I’m still a big fan of the Superliner..Lol
Me too!
Should do a lineup of all the trucks if possible, make for a cool video.

Old trucks are more reliable.
Your channel is growing man
Little tiny bit every week.
I wonder if the boss looked into the new AutoCar?
That would look so sweet in that paint scheme.
Not that this Western Star is ugly, far from it.
Maybe the next truck.
Nice looking rig but Macks are Prettier I got 5 nothing says Dump Truck like MACK take care !
That's a sweet truck .
Thanks
I wish the company I worked for had nice prideful trucks, but we don't
Sadly many are that way.
Seats smell like ass dirt and sticky coffee stains all over the dash area only 1 wiper sprays just depressing kinda ruins it for me
If you get some flex fit hats looking forward to getting a couple
Awesome thanks
Awesome bro thanks
Beautiful truck, looks like it was worth the wait...
Absolutely
In your experience, what is quieter - WS or KW T880? What engine does this have?
I haven't driven either one. WS has DD16 Detroit.
Sharp looking truck. Western Stars are good trucks. A lot of loggers in my area run them. Just hearing about that Allison made me puke!
We are having withdrawals…..no Boston Trucker…..the shakes!!!!
Hahaha this weekend my friend, you won't be disappointed!
Standing by!🇺🇸
Awesome
Thank you 😊
Wow that looks way better than I thought it would, glad to see that Western Star didn't just go with another ugly potato chip wagon.
Yup I agree.
Nice, can't wait to see more videos 👍😁
Thank you
Lost me at Allison Auto 🤦🏽♂️
shes a beauty!!
Thank you
A little disappointed lol. Western star used to be on of my favorites. Now there just a freightliner with a different hood.
I disagree they are a way better truck than a freighter even though they are both owned by diamler the stars are the better heavy duty option.
Damm that western star ⭐️ looks great 👍🏻
Definitely does!
My father had a brand new western star he was driving in 2016 when he had a stroke and they took his CDL. He was very upset when they took his truck back.
He drove log truck in Maine for over 30 years
I can't imagine, poor guy.
“Hood mirrors Andrew”
I don't like them.
Wonder how she will do haulin with the allison auto my company seems to think all our lowboys need to be standards haulin heavy…
We're going to find out.
In my opinion I'd rather prefer a manual over an automatic!..But to each their own.
Same

Why did you guys go for the 7 speed Allison trans?
What the boss wanted.
I would love to learn to stripe
It's becoming a lost art.
If it was a tri axle heavy hauler I’d be impressed, otherwise it’s a typical 10 wheel lowbed
😂

Those push button shifters are a joke it should be a lever or column shift like a pickup something tangible not a chinsey button.
I have no idea.
