I always felt that the pathfinder tool was unpredictable but the more I’ve gotten comfortable with it the more I’ve used it and the more indispensable it’s become. Add the pathfinder and shape builder and you’re unstoppable!!
I didn’t realise about the centre feature on type on a path. I’ve spent hours of frustration trying to get text aligned properly. Thanks for the tip. Great to see your number of subscribers increasing every time I click on one of your videos Abi. Love your tutorials...you are very clear and easy to understand.
Hey Abi, really enjoyed the video. I'd love if you'd show the keyboard shortcuts you use as it would help me to passively pick some of those up as well. Great work and all the best!
You are so helpful young lady. Thanks am graphic designer too. Am used more Ps rather than Ai. Now am learning from you technique of Ai. Keep teaching us
Oh my gosh you have got to be the best design tutorial youtuber I've ever come across! I'm currently studying digital media and uni, which involves a few design courses using illustrator, and I've learned more from you than i have my university tutors haha. appreciate you so much abi!
I have been searching for this colour themes. I asked my instructor but he couldnt answer me. I never knew about the type on path tool. Thanks for teaching me new stuff today
Nice, informative video. Keep up the good work! I really liked the color theme feature, didn't know that something of this sort existed in Adobe Illustrator itself.
This helped me so so so so so so so so so so so much with my digital tech assessment, ily so so so so so so so so so so much, i got an A because of you if this video didnt exist i would of failed digital tech and then i would of kms
I came to this video after watching your "Watch Me Design A Logo From Scratch" video in September and your confidence in front of the camera has grown so much!! 😁 Great videos, new sub here! 👍🏼
If you use the "arms" on Type on a Path tool, you can drag one to where you want your type to start and drag the other arm to where you want it to end...like half of the top or half of the bottom. Make sure you hover over the line until you see an left or right arrow. Right arrow is where it should begin, left arrow is the end point, and then drag. Then in the Paragraph panel, just click on the "center" and you have perfectly centred text, without rotating the original circle.
Hello, Abi I love watching your tutorials as they are so informative and fun. This Illustrator tutorial is really very handy and helpful. You are so bubbly. Thank you.
Ow wow. This channel only has below 40k subs??? Yestwrday I saw a video of yours for first time (about font editing). I loved it. Now youtube shows me this and I made sure to subscribe. I will watch a lot of yours. Your explaining is very nice and masterlevel.
That was an amazing tutorial. It was the first time that I have learned the magic wand tool. I am sure I will use it much more and I kknow I need it. Thank you for letting us know those tools :)
Hi Abi, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your video! If possible, would you mind sharing the keyboard shortcuts that you use? I think it would be helpful for me and others to passively pick up some of those shortcuts as well. Keep up the great work and wishing you all the best!

I'd love to learn from you, you and the way you work looks so professional to me! Thanx for your content! ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Abi, Thankyou so much for this video especially for type on path. I used to go on a long process to do that and even after that It never looks perfect. So this is really amazing

Just getting my education before delving into illustrator for the first time. Like your video very much - clear, good info and a nice person giving it! so I subscribed at once. Also cool with the extra tips people give in the comments.
Hi, great video. I am just starting to use illustrator and I would really like to know how you where able to move the joined circles with the fading colours, at the start of the video, and still keep the proportions? Which keys do you press/hold down?
I didn't know about the 'options' of type on path tool! Such a hidden treasure! The blend tool has always been a mystery to me. I really like the 3D effect you did with it. :) I have to say I don't do much playing around with the tools of Illustrator or other design software. It's like whatever I come across day to day, those are the tools I end up using. Could I ask, what is your approach with experimenting with tools to learn new techniques? Do you try emulate something using tools you don't normally use? Out of the 5 you mentioned, I use the shape builder the most often. Thanks again!
Glad the video was of help :) I get what you mean, I think on average I only use about 20% of Illustrator's capabilities! So yes if I see a design or effect I like but not sure how to create, I will go and mess around in the program and try to recreate it, or each week I set aside around 3 hours to take an online course to help improve my design or business skills, so sometimes I learn new techniques through that! 😊
@@abiconnick that's great advice Abi! thanks so much! I've just signed up to Envato for a trial to see how it goes. There looks like there are some tutorials there too...I like the idea of setting aside time. There's no other way I think!!
It would be great to see you redesign some American chocolate as some of their designs look a bit dated and boring.I think you could do a good job at it and it would make a great vid.
My pleasure! I've never used Corel Draw, but can preach about how good adobe illustrator is! Can be quite overwhelming to begin with but keep practising within it and you'll pick things up!
Thank you! To be honest I never create a logo in procreate, I always go straight into illustrator and start designing there 💛 I use procreate more for backgrounds, textures and any intricate drawings x
Okay, I have struggled with this for about an hour. Thanks for the tutorial, with the letters I keep getting the colour blend as opposed to single colour on top and single colour for the 3D effect. So, what exactly do you do at 2:56 "copy and paste in place colour"?
