    This helped me ease my nervousness, I am going to go print out my handbook now! I am doing my masters and edTPA in special education and choosing the focus learner is my biggest decision right now. I am going to try and stay calm and confident. Thanks so much!

    I admire you and all the other teachers who had to do this, I'm still student teaching and my state doesn't require this.

    I just wanted to send you a huge thank you for these videos, I just passed the edTPA and I honestly couldn't have done it without the help you provided here. I found your videos at a time when I was at my lowest emotional point in my effort to complete the edTPA, and your positivity and tips (from this video and all of them) really helped me through the process. thank you with all my heart.

    Just started my junior methods courses and they are already talk about edTPA! Ironically, the first thing my teacher told us to do is print and read it cause we gonna be talking about it. She’s gonna tell us as much as she legally can to help my class of 30+ students be as successful as possible!! Thanks for the tips!!

    Completing EdTPA this Fall (2021)- Currently a behavior teacher in a SPED setting. My number of students change without notice. Excited to get this behind me. Just praying we stay in class this Fall.

    I start my student teaching in August 2022. I will be placed in 2nd grade hopefully. My Dean just retired and my advisor retires the end of July; so I am freaking out. I have a binder with tabs, but nothing in them yet. I have a print out of making good choices, support guide for edtpa candidate's elementary task 4, and the assessment hand book, but I do not have any rubric template printed out. I have been reading the handbooks but I am freaking out because I am losing my advisor and dean. I don't know who will replace them. Can you direct me as to how I can download and print out rubric and check list templates to keep up with what I have and need along the way?

    Question, I have a class of 14, I’m only using 4 of those students. My handbook says they are considered whole group. Can I teach them how you’re sitting during this video or do I need to teach them in the front of the room standing up? Does it matter?

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  2 роки тому

      It shouldn’t matter, I believe you just need to make sure that when you film you have you and the students in the video

    Planning to intern in the fall of 2023, do you have a link to the EDTPA handbook. Awesome video by the way very helpful

    • @twalker929
      @twalker929 10 місяців тому

      There is NO link to an edTPA handbook. If there is, don't trust it. They update the handbooks regularly, so it's probably an old one. Plus as I mentioned above, there are 28 different handbooks. Ask your university's edTPA coordinator. It's literally their job to tell you.

    Hi there. I'm starting my edTPA clinical practice in 3 weeks. 1st grade. I have 4 kids, Bipolar disorder, and severe anxiety, so as you can imagine, I'm very overwhelmed about all of this. Your tips are giving me some structure, I'm just afraid not knowing what mood I'll be in and how much time I'll actually have available in the evenings to work on this. Trying not to freak out, but again, I'm bipolar, so I don't really have a choice in the matter sometimes. 😂

    EdtPA for ESL... I'm freaking out and I am so overwhelmed.... It's hard if you teach full time, have to prepare for the next day AND work for your EdTPA... when did you start filming yourself?

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  2 роки тому +1

      Oh my goodness that is a lot on your plate!! My advice would be fit in your edTPA with something you are already teaching! Do you mean at what point in the school year? I tried to film my edTPA pretty early in my student teaching experience (i.e. filmed it late January and it was due to be submitted mid April)... You can always start doing practice filming to get used to it and get your students used to it as well!

    I start my student teaching this coming Fall, and I believe I’ll be in first grade as well! Do you have any tips specific to aligning the edTPA with first grade?

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary

      My number one tip is let the standard you choose to teach drive your planning!! I would love to do another edTPA tip video! Maybe I can do one in regards to doing edTPA in a primary classroom?

      It actually depends on which edTPA you are doing. People speak of THE edTPA, but there are 28 different edTPA handbooks and each one has a unique subject-specific focus. Planning your learning segment in accordance with your handbook's subject-specific focus is one of the best things you can do. EIGHT of 15 scoring rubrics are based on that.

    Is edtpa and teaching license exam the same?

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  2 роки тому

      No, some states require it for education preparation programs (college programs) and some require the score for certification. Varies state by state
