#voiceplay I am _so excited_ about this, that you're giving VoicePlay a shot! Love me some VoicePlay! Okay, left to right is 1) Layne (Lane) Stein, vocal percussionist/baritone, 2) J. None, baritone, the featured guest artist. He used to be a full member of VoicePlay but was recruited to sing for the US Navy. He comes back to guest whenever he's on leave. VoicePlay is a five-person group but have been down a permanent member since J left, so they always have a feature on their songs. That person almost always stands or sits in the middle of the group. 3) Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci, BASS but one who can go even higher than you heard him here. Mad range, crazy talented. He has a solo channel with some great stuff on there. 4) Eli (pronounced L.E., rhymes with jelly) Jacobson, high tenor/rock tenor. 5) Cesar (Caesar) de la Rosa, baritone/baritenor, newest member, absolute sweetheart, super talented. They're known as the "theater kids" of acapella because they get big into staging, lighting, sometimes costumes and makeup, just everything presentation. They do whatever inspires them, from Disney to metal to JVKE to classic rock or Johnny Cash. I really recommend their covers of Creep, Seven Nation Army and Nothing Else Matters.
You will not regret being introduced to Voiceplay. Quite different from most acapella groups, they are often very theatrical. They enlist many outside guests to perform with them. J. None is a former member who has joined the Navy and comes back to perform with them when invited. I listen to them as much as I do Home Free because they are both fantastic in very different ways. hj
@@highlyreactivereactionsthank you so much for a great reaction to Voice Play. They are known as The Theater Kids of Acapella. You will find out why if you would please put these cover songs by Voice Play on your to do list. Queen In 5 Minutes ( a medley of Queen songs ) ..The Little Mermaid.., Friends On The Other Side...The Dragonborn Come Skyrim...Halo ( the theme song from the Halo video game. ) The composer of the music said that Voice Plays cover is the best he ever heard. Watch till the credits roll for a very important message about the game & why it is so dear to them.
You're in for a treat!! Welcome to the #Voiceplay rabbit hole!! My recommendations for your next reactions....Valhalla Calling, Nothing Else Matters, Creep, Hoist The Colours, Halo Theme, Warriors, Hall of the Mountain King, Dream On, 21 Pilots Mashup, Oogie Boogie. Enjoy!!
Just FYI - you would need to do a search for 21 Pilots Mashup as it is not on VoicePlay's UA-cam channel, but instead on the channel of the guy they collaborated with on it.
#voiceplay are, as others already mentioned, the "theatre kids of a cappella", and some people can't forgive them for that. 🙂 I personally love the theatric spin they put into their videos. Even when they seem to not be THAT theatrical (no costumes, no makeups, essential set and lighting...) they do something special with their voices. They don't simply sing, they ACT what they're singing, and they make all covers they do "their own". You could try their cover of Metallica's "Nothing else matters", or Radiohead's "Creep", or Aerosmith's "Dream on", or The White Stripes' "7 Nation Army", you'll always "feel" the original song, yet they make it their own. They're masters at that. 🙂 Subscribed in anticipation for more of their stuff... And Geoff's, which, once you try it, you just won't stay without it 😁. Try his couple songs from "The Hobbit"... First, "Far over the Misty Mountains cold", from "An unexpected journey", and then "I see fire", from "The Desolation of Smaug". Same 4 characters (yes, they're all Geoff), very different songs and arrangement. Or "Jack's lament", from "Nightmare before Christmas"... Totally different. And no "clones" there, although you can hear their voices harmonising in certain points. Or "Rains of Castamere" (from "Game of Thrones"), or "Man of constant sorrow", or "Folsom prison blues"... 😉
While Geoff (Jeff) singing the lead is the groups bass, you were absolutely right about the drone - that was coming from Layne, the beatbox and sometimes baritone. Their videos are absolutely wonderful, and yes, they do everything themselves, including the video. They think of each production as an art piece, and it shows.
#voiceplay VoicePlay are such a spectacular group- you are in for a real treat dropping down this rabbithole! Since you've already gotten the rundown of the members, I figured I'd let you know that the lighting and videography that you were admiring? That's also them. VoicePlay is 100% independent, and as a result, they do 90% of every creative project, from song selection to arrangement (typically done by either Geoff-bass- or Layne-beatboxer-, although Eli- tenor- has been stepping up more recently) to video concept, direction, filming and editing. They do sub out steadycam work (although Layne has been doing that a bit more lately), theatrical makeup or prosthetics and, like all the other a cappella groups, after doing the initial mix on their vocal tracks they send them off to Ed Boyer for the final mix. Eli does the lighting work for nearly all of VoicePlay's videos, as well as some on Geoff's solo channel- more on that in a moment. Layne is co-owner of Pattycake Productions, a video production studio he started with former VoicePlay baritone, Tony Wakim, and that is where VoicePlay shoot a lot of their videos. Circling back to Geoff's solo channel, you will likely start seeing a lot of recommendations to check it out as well, and I have to add my voice to that number. Every single member of VoicePlay is a vocal monster, but Geoff is what I have often referred to as VoicePlay's gateway drug. His unique vocal timbre and massive range is often what catches people's attention, and many folk- myself included- discovered VoicePlay after stumbling upon Geoff's solo cover of Tennessee Ernie Ford's old classic, Sixteen Tons. With a 5 octave range, Geoff is able to multitrack his vocals from tenor all the way down to bass notes that defy comprehension and creates a virtual choir of voices that are all distinct, yet clearly his own. As with VoicePlay, he produces all his own videos and arrangements, and for a fun visual twist, most of the time he clones himself on video so we are treated to four or five Geoffs (sometimes in costume) performing different vocal lines. It's definitely worth your while to venture down this adjacent rabbithole.
Voiceplay not only is a fantastic acapella group, but they do all aspects of their videos themselves. They have their own production company. They do the lighting, the makeup, and the video production. They are so busy producing material that they don't tour the same as Home Free does. They haven't ever toured Europe and it's doubtful that they ever will with their busy schedule. Voiceplay is based in Orlando, Florida. It started with a group of friends in high school. They originally started performing at the theme parks in Orlando. (Many artists start their music careers by performing at theme parks. Austin of Home Free sang at Disney for the Voices of Liberty, a Disney acapella group, after college). The guys at Voiceplay would spend their free time singing together, "playing" with their voices. That is how they came up with the name Voiceplay. Voiceplay was on the fourth season of The Sing-, an acapella competition show, with Home Free. During the show, Voiceplay had a female lead singer, Honey Larochelle. Home Free and Voiceplay became friends during the show. After the show, they did a fun video together called Zombies vs. Hillbillies. Also, Lance Stein of Voiceplay did the arrangement for Home Free's Biuttz Remix. You might like Voiceplay's This is Halloween.
Voiceplay and HomeFree are actually good friends. They were both on the same season of the SingOff! and did the sing off tour together. Geoff, the bass of Voiceplay, credits Tim Foust as teaching him the bass growl technique. Homefree used Geoff's arrangement for Elvira in their video featuring the Oak Ridge Boys and gave him credit at the end of the video. The two groups even colab'd on a fun video on Voiceplay's channel called "Survivor: Zombies vs. Hillbillies" you should check it out. Can't wait to see more Voiceplay! This was one of their Disney videos but they do all genre's and find a way to make each one their own will still paying homage to the original.
Different seasons of Sing Off. Voice Play had a female at that time. Don’t think they won. Home Free did. Doesn’t make a difference, just saying. No question Voice Play has become amazing, especially in the last few years.
So welcome to the theatre kids of acapella. They are crazy talented. (Pentatonics are the Student Council) and Home Free are the guys hanging out in the parking lot having a tailgate party!
#voiceplay. Yes, they are the Theaterkids in acapella, but also the kings of Halloween. This song and geoff's "jack's lament" (From "Nightmare before Christmas") are this years treats. If you love sea shantys, they have done drunken sailor (hilarius) and hoist the colours (incredible arrangement). ❤
@Voiceplay .Hi Guys, Welcome to Voiceplay and subsequently Geoff Castellucci who has his own channel. I've subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay and Geoff. ❤ 🇬🇧
This song is from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. VoicePlay have done a lot of Disney music, having worked for Disney in the past. They are sometimes known as the theatre kids of a capella, for their more theatrical style of videos. Left to right: Layne Stein, beatboxer/vocal percussionist, J.None, baritone, ex member who returns from time to time, Geoff Castellucci bass - tenor, Eli (say ellie) Jacobson, tenor, and Cesar de la Rosa. Geoff has also done Man of Constant Sorrow, on his own channel of low bass covers. He wrote a bridge section for the song to make it less repetitive.
VoicePlay #TheatreKidsOfACapella. Go Vikings in Valhalla Calling. Pirates in Hoist The Colors. They do everything from Metallica to Disney. Geoff Castellucci the bass has his own channel where he does his own low bass covers. VoicePlay and Home Free were on The Sing-Off together. They even did a video Zombies vs. Hillbillies - Survivor (VoicePlay vs. Home Free). VoicePlay will be on stage singing with Chicago this Friday & Saturday, November 17 &18 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
This is quite a song to jump into the Voiceplay rabbit hole with. It is excellent but not exactly a typical Voiceplay effort. I do hope you explore many more songs by them as well as solo works by Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci (Cast-a- loo-chee).
Voiceplay cover many genres - my favourites are their rock covers: Nothing Else Matters - Metallica, In The Air Tonight ( Phil Collins), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Dream On (Aerosmith), Creep (Radiohead), Carry on my Wayward son (Kansas), BUT their medleys are amazing too (from Disney to Boy Bands to Queen!) . They are the kings of Halloween because they're so theatrical and they also do all genres in between - as well as Minis (Wellerman has over 1M views already) - my personal favourite is Peaches (Mario - Jack Black) but there is a treasure trove to select from. They do almost everything themselves- being fully independent + their arrangements are second to none. Hope there will be reactions. 🔥
Everyone already gave you a lot of info so I’m just here to say loved your reaction and you should definitely react to more VoicePlay! They are incredible!! ❤
VoicePlay is located in Orlando. All members past and present have worked in Disney, Universal and other theme parks. That shaped the group and you will often find the videos and characters are so much more evolved. They learned the importance of staging, costuming, etc. Check Valhalla Calling for an EPIC version. Geoff Castellucci, the bass, has a range of A0 (growl), B0 (subharmonic, F1 (full chest), his highest note is Bb5 (falsetto). He also does non-acapella video soloes. I got a new favorite for Halloween - Jack's Lament (Nightmare Before Christmas), before that I See Fire (Desolation of Smaug), Sound of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel). VoicePlay is a powerhouse with a touch of comedy. See Hoist the Colours (Pirates of the Caribbean), Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Little Mermaid (imagine Geoff as Ursula), Wicked (Broadway), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Drunken Sailor, Creep (RadioHead), Queen in 5 Minutes, We Don't Talk About Bruno (Encanto). We VoicePlay fans will be your biggest fan if you do Geoff and VoicePlay.
#voiceplay These guys are great and lean more theatre/rock and are always worth a listen. They competed against Home Free on The Sing Off in 2013 (with a slightly different line-up) and remain good friends. Tim has coached Geoff and Layne did HF’s arrangement of Elvira. You might like their head-to-head battle of I’m A Survivor, it’s brilliant! Also, check out Carry On Wayward Son feat. Omar Cardonna; I Can’t Make You Love Me feat. EJ Cardonna (of Voctave, another group worthy of your time); and In the Air Tonight feat. J. None.
#voiceplay is amazing. This piece had me mesmerized, I can't tell you how many times I've watched it. Most of what they do, I've never heard. Doesn't matter, they are brilliantly talented! Try their cover of The Dragonborn Comes.
Home Free and Voice Play are my two favorite singing groups today. Voice Play for drama, Home Free for everything. The two groups are good friends. Tim helped Geoff go subterranean.
So if you've listened to Home Free (mostly country), and now Voice Play (mostly theatre), you now need to listen to the group that set the stage for this generation of acapella groups to thrive: PENTATONIX. They've got three Grammys; PTX is mostly pop music, but their specialty is emulating electronic dance music (EDM). Their beatboxer is one of the best on the planet, both for his speed, which is insane, but also the variety of effects he can produce. Combining him with their bass creates an unbelievable EDM sound that you'd swear wasn't real. You should start with Bohemian Rhapsody, so you can see what each of them can do. (It includes their original bass, Avi, who left in 2017, and was replaced by current bass Matt). Then listen to Hallelujah, arguably their most famous song. Then listen to their first Grammy winner, Daft Punk. Then listen to their EDM original Coffee in Bed. After that, being the holidays are approaching, attack all their Christmas music, which is how they became as famous as they are. No joke, their versions of classic Christmas songs are probably the best version you've ever heard. You'll be hooked.
Love seeing new people discovering VoicePlay! They do not have a lane to stay in, they just go wherever they please (and kill it!). For recommendations, I'll go with "Valhalla Calling," "Nothing Else Matters" and "Hoist the Colours" to start with. These guys aren't called the theatre kids of Acapella for nothing. It's a fun ride! Great reaction, guys! ❤ #VoicePlay
Left to right. Layne Stein, Baritone & Beatboxer. Original Member going back to 1999. Feature J. None, former member of Voiceplay, currently in the Navy but when he has leave he does a song or two with them. Geoff (Jeff) Castelucci (Cast-a-Lucc-ee) Bass, Original Member. Eli Jacobson, Tenor 1/Rock Tenor, Joined Circa 2011, Far Right is Cesar De La Rosa, Baritone/Tenor 2 and Awesome sound generator in general (guitars, acapella 'trumpets" as well as overtone king), joined in July 2021 to replace J. None. They're still down a member since an original member who sang Tenor, Earl Elkins left for personal reasons during the pandemic. Because of them technically being a 4 man team, they often pull in talents they have previously worked with, as well as former members such as J.None to fill in for songs. Layne and Geoff tend to do most of the arrangements, Eli does the lighting, any CGI rendering in Unreal Engine as needed as well as sometimes contributing an arrangement. Layne is also co-owner of Pattycake Productions, with his business partner and former group member Tony Wakim. Tony used to sing Baritone (and was replaced by J.None when he stepped down). Because of this side business, Voiceplay tends to have access to awesome sets and tend to be a lot more theatrical in their videos. This often leads to Voiceplay being dubbed the 'theater kids' of the Acapella Trifecta of themselves, Pentatonix, Home Free. To see what I mean, I'd highly recommend "Valhalla Calling" or "In the Air Tonight", both featuring J. None. They've covered quite a range of rock songs lately as well, I'd recommend is Creep, Nothing Else Matters, Seven Nation Army, Carry on Wayward Son or Dream On. On the more nerdy side, Dragonborn Comes (from Skyrim), Halo Theme, Drunken Salior, Hoist the Colors (Pirates of the Carribean 3), My Mother Told Me, etc.... Most of the songs over the last two years have been standout, but they have some awesome other stuff in previous years. Finally Geoff (Jeff) the bass in this group, has a wide range like Tim of Home Free. He has his own channel where he multitracks himself 4 or more times to make his own versions of songs. Such as Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash) , I see Fire (from the Hobbit), Man of Constant Sorrow, Sixteen Tons and Jack's Lament (from the Nightmare Before Christmas). Sorry for the overload! A lot to introduce a new person to.
Loooove #voiceplay!! So glad youre checkimg them out. All of their vocal ranges are incredible. From beginning to "Burn it" Layne the beat boxer was doing the low stuff...he also has a voice that reaches to the bottom of the piano. Then Layne takes up the beat boxing (although Geoff also can beatbox) and Geoff does all his amazing bass stuff plus shows off his higher range. Eli is the rock tenor (also has gorgeous low range and can be smooth as silk) and Cesar is baritone but can go waaaaay up high as well and has a voice like velvet. These guys (and their wives/partners) are all ridiculously insanely talented.
#VoicePlay. My 2nd favorite acapella group. You should check out their cover of The Oogie Boogie Song from Nighmare Before Christmas. Perfect time of year for it.
Welcome to the theatre kids of A Cappella! Voiceplay is fabulous! I'm so addicted. And this is my favorite line up! Left to right- Layne, J. None (a member on leave, currently singing in the US Naval Choir), Geoff, Eli (sounds like "jelly"), and Cesar, their newest member. I'm going to recommend my favorite song by them, "Valhalla Calling." It's seriously top tier! I listen to it for hours on end, on repeat. Home Free would be delighted to know they brought you to Voiceplay (or vice versa), as they're all friends. #Voiceplay.
Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole 🐰. This is from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Villain Frollo. Left to right.... Layne Stein - beatboxer, baritone, arrangements. J None - former member, baritone. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass, arrangements. Eli (like jelly) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting. Cesar De La Rosa - baritone, tenor. These guys are amazing. All their videos are awesome. They are independent so do everything themselves from beginning to end on their videos. Except for intricate make-up, cameras and audio mixing. They even make their own decisions. They are known as both "The Theater Kids of Acapella" and "The Kings of Halloween" because of their love of dressing up and performing. They are based in Orlando Florida. They all used to perform in shows at either Disney World, Universal Studios or both. They still sing at Disney World from time to time. At present there are only 4 of them so they collaborate with various artists for the 5th. So depending on the video/song is who they are featuring. Right now they are in Atlantic City NJ doing a 2 day concert with the group Chicago. Singing on stage with them. Drunken Sailor they did a couple months ago. It is a sea shanty that is hilarious. That's only one of the many genres they have done. They don't limit themselves. Opera, Broadway, game themes, Disney, country, pop, rock, sea shanty, comedy, Halloween, Christmas and the list goes on. Geoff Castellucci, the bass, has his own channel where he sings solo with instruments. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name.... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl. Usually in the videos with him but sometimes in the background. Geoff has a 5+ octave range from low bass to tenor. He also has many amazing videos. His latest is "Jack's Lament" from Nightmare Before Christmas. He also has a variety of genres but most are older folk songs.... Ain't No Sunshine, Big John, Ghost Riders In The Sky, Monster Mash, Headless Horseman. And fairly newer ones.... Rains of Castemere, Way Down, Man of Constant Sorrow, Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold, I See Fire.
@@highlyreactivereactions You're very welcome 🤗. Glad to have you aboard. By the way..... watch their videos until the very end. Especially Geoff because alot of times they add little surprises after a brief pause. Also. Because they're independent all their videos are funded by the Patreons. So they give the running list at the end as a thank you for that. And sometimes a little behind the scenes. As Geoff says at the end of his "Folsom Prison Blues" video..... if it wasn't for the Patreons he wouldn't have been able to rent a whole prison.
Left to right: Layne - beatboxing primarily, baritone J. None - not sure his range, probably low tenor/baritone Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - inhuman bass Eli (Ellie) - high tenor Cesar - tenor #voiceplay
About what they're wearing: since this is about a 19th century religious official sinking into evil, they are wearing dramatically styled black coats, and a couple of them wear crosses. Geoff, though, as the villain, is wearing a red jewel (borrowed from his wife?).
Welcome to VoicePlay. They are commonly referred to as the Theater Kids of Acapella for excellent reasons all of which are highlighted in this video. I can see from other comments that other have already informed you of their names and usual voice ranges in their covers. I warn you though that none of these super talented, extremely nice and completely genuine artists stay in one lane or do what people expect. (You are going to LOVE it.) I am glad other reactors are picking up on this group as they are my favorites for lots of reasons. They are entirely independent and do nearly everything themselves from writing music and lyrics to arrangement, video concept and production to costuming and makeup (although they do sometimes have people they bring in for really complex work (See their video of This is Halloween for example)). They DO have a professional sound mixer and sometimes doubletrack some things for videos, but I was 1st introduced to them in 2016 at the Magic Kingdom Christmas Party in WDW in Florida and I can personally attest that they sound just this impressive live and can hit all the vocal marks mainly because they have put in the work and professionalism to actually BE professionals. Speaking of live there are three videos you really should check out just to see what I mean, Aside from This is Halloween, we don't talk about Bruno made such a huge impression on Disney that VoicePlay was asked to perform it live at a special private event. There is a terrible recording of said event on UA-cam that is still also worth a listen because they had to rearrange the entire performance to get the same effects live and did so with very little notice. The other one I would like you to experience to understand just how nice and real these guys are, is the Halo theme. Please Do watch that one all the way to the end credits because the outro is important. (Actually, in case no one thinks to tell you be sure to watch all of VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci's videos all the way through *with the captions on* as they are usually quite informative and sometimes funny). You will be glad you did and since VoicePlay has lots of fans here on UA-cam you can expect a lot of support for their material on your channel once the fanbase sees you. I have found that the fans are as nice as the group and more than willing to support new reactors.
Welcome to the #Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. They are known as the Theater Kids of Accapella. They also do everything themselves, from arrangements to lighting and editing (except final editing) Yes this is the Villain song from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Introductions: Layne Stein beatboxer/vocal percussionist/Baritone founding member of Voiceplay. He arranges about half their songs. He also is Co-owner of Patty Cake Productions (with former member Tony Wakim) were they film most of their videos J None Baritone and featured guest singer. Former member of Voiceplay left in 2021 when he got recruited by the Navy. He promised to return and has kept that promise, returning whenever he has leave. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci Bass singer and founding member of Voiceplay. He does the other half of the arrangements. He also has his own channel where he does Low Bass Covers. He is known for his low subs and has a five octave range. Eli (rhymes with jelly) Jacobson Rock Tenor is in charge of lighting and special effects. And arranged a few songs and helps with others. He's also a voice actor and usually does the extra voices when needed (voiced the gaurd in thus song) Cesar de la Rosa Sassy Baritone/Tenor newest member of the group. The guy/gaurd thst came in wad Tony Wakim former member and Co-owner of Patty Cake Productions (you should check out their work too) They are still down one member so they have a lot of Featured Artists join them, any would make perfect additions to the group. You can choose any songs from their vast collection and never go wrong.
Voiceplay is my second favorite a cappella group, right after Home Free. The two groups are friends, by the way. The bass, Geoff, has some fantastic solo work on his solo channel. His recent cover of Jack’s Lament from Nightmare before Christmas is a treat and shows his vocal agility. I think you’d enjoy it.
Great reaction. VP does everything from Disney to Metal ,Broadway to Game Themes. They do theatrical with full makeup and sets to straight a Capella on stools something for everyone. #voiceplay
#Voiceplay they are amazing all of them get their turn, us loyal fans will watch with interest to see if you do more. Most of us also love Homefree ❤🏴
The Bass singer, Geoff (Jeff) has his own channel. He isn't acappella on it, but he does all the parts sung, as well as some of the instruments. I didn't see it mentioned, but he has a massive range, as shown here. On his site, I would suggest you listen to Ain't No Sunshine, the Bill Withers cover.
For your next one you should do Valhalla Calling , Wayward Son. Also the middle guy is Geoff he does his own too, check his Sound of Silence , House of the rising sun and Jack's Lament from nightmare before Christmas.
Layne, J-None, Geoff, Eli (el-ee), and Ceasar Delarosa. J-None is actually in the military musical corps. He was in the group and comes back sometimes.
Welcome to the Voiceplayers world! It's a cosy rabbit-hole to venture down! Most of the 'regulars' have given you a ton of info, so all I would add is a couple of hints - put the 'captions' on, (as long as they are not the 'auto-generated' ones!), as they often include some fun bits, and for this one you would have seen the backing vocal lines, also you REALLY need to watch the full outros, as they often tease another release, play the 'karaoke' track and/or throw in some 'behind the scenes' clips. on Geoff's solo channel (somthing else you NEED to check out!) he will often have a little message at the end! Enjoy! 😊
Geoff is the primary bass, but Layne (vocal percussion) can provide basement notes whenever he wants, and often does backup bass when Geoff is reaching for higher notes.
Left to Right: Layne - beatboxer/baritone J.None - Tenor, honorary 5th member of VoicePlay until he's discharged from the US Navy Geoff (Jeff) - Dragon/Demon/Earth-shaker/Rumble God/Bass Eli (bald guy) - Counter Tenor/Rock Tenor extraordinare Cesar - High Tenor
Typically they are more of an ensemble group, but this particular song really called for one main lead and obviously with his voice it had to go to Geoff. As others have remarked they do it all, using makeup and steady cam operators only if they can not handle it with one exception. In their cover of Valhalla Calling, they went to a studio that has wall sized LED screens that they used to display the digital backgrounds that the tenor created. He is generally in charge of lighting and is a tech wizard. He has also done some arranging, but most of the arrangements are done by Geoff who was the lead here and Layne, the beatboxer, trading off pretty much every month. They do use another arranger for their shorts and their minis and two or three of their full productions. They do not tour anymore, and in a rare live appearance they are going to be appearing with Chicago in Atlantic City this weekend and several fans who are more financially able than I are going to be lucky enough to see them. They also have individual endeavors that keep them pretty busy there at home as well as a few having younger children in the family. By the way, the idiot guard is being played by Tony Wakim who used to be their baritone from about 2009 to 2017 and was with them when they participated in the sing off against Home Free. You can see him in earlier videos and is in the collaboration they did with HomeFree Using the song survivor. You can usually find it if you look up Zombies versus Hillbillies. I’ll let you guess which is which😂.
#VoicePlay is one of the best aca groups out there, and since you're already familiar with #HomeFree you should note that the boys have been friends since their Sing Off days. you should check out their song Just Sing (turn on subtitles! Cause they have Easter eggs in there)
I ration out my 'Subcribe' button hits. But you guys did such a good job on this video I am hitting subscribe now. Voiceplay is my favorite acapella group, and as many have commented, Geoff has his own channel that is worth watching. I cannot wait to see you delve deeper into Voiceplay.
Subbed for the PTX reaction you did and you mentioned Voiceplay so I am watching those now. PTX and Voiceplay are two of my favorite groups! Suggest checking out 'Moana Medley', 'We Don't Talk About Bruno', 'Little Mermaid Medley' and 'Creep'
Home Free, VoicePlay & Pentatonix are the sort of Big 3 in acapella. The latter two are much more theatrical than Home Free and the vocal styles of each band are significantly different. Another really good acapella group is Straight No Chaser (they have a live video of "Rocky Top" in which Tim & Austin of Home Free guest). Rob Lundquist guests on VoicePlay's video of Movie Themes.
L to R: Layne Stein (percussionist and occasional baritone/bass), J None (former member who comes back - baritone), Geoff Castellucci (bass supreme), Eli Jacobson (Elly - superb tenor), and Cesar de la Rosa (baritone/ tenor).
This version has been stuck in my head for DAYS, lol. You've got me wondering what you guys would think of Dan Vasc (anything really, he's amazing), his 2 latest is Number of the Beast & Amazing Grace. Another to check out would be Valhalla Calling by Peyton Parrish & Miracle of Sound
#voiceplay Welcome to the Rabbit Hole of VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci, who has got own stuff on UA-cam too. They had a few different members over the years they also feature a few people too. The last song they done is Whiskey In A Jar. But they done Disney stuff like this but Dream On, Creep, In The Air Tonight, Tis Is Halloween, What's Tis, Kidnap Santa Claws, Halo theme, Running Up That Hill, We Don't Talk About Bruno. Geoff who is the Bass has done Jack's Lament, Blackbird, Sound Of Silence, Way Down, Till Then this just to name a few from both cannel's. They also done Nothing Else Matters.
#Voiceplay The problem with pegging the members into silos is most have 4+ octave ranges. BTW Geoff arranged Homefree's Elvira with the Oakridge boys. You should also check out Geoff's solo channel
1:35 well no... while Layne can also sing bass and does in fact sing most of the bass part up til the burn it, that right there you are probably talking about is the camera panning to him because he takes over the lead melody, while Geoff does Geoff things xD From left to right: Layne the Alien that swallowed a drumkit+, J.None the secret weapon/chameleon, Geoff the Dragon, Eli the rock god and Caesar the sassy Angel... none of them are human :p #voiceplay
Please go down the rabbit hole of listening to Geoff Castellucci, the bass singer. You will be in shock listening to his notes and singing in general. A few songs by him, “Ain’t No Sunshine”, “House of the Rising Sun”, “Sixteen Tons”, “Rains of Castemere”, “Jacks Lament” are just a few good solos by him with insane low notes. Good Voiceplay songs would be “Oogie Boogie Song”, “Hoist the Colours”, “Mermaid Medley (ps: almost shows Geoff’s full range)”, “Valhalla Calling”, “Dragonborn”. Just a few.
#voiceplay you guys should check out voiceplay cover of nothing else matters. It's also featured jnone. And you get a better sense of his vocal talents. Also valhalla calling featuring jnone. Prepare to have you minds blown.
#VoicePlay Also check out Geoff Castellucci solo channel for awesome low bass singer covers. He arranges about half of Voiceplay's songs and all of his solo stuff.
Not impressed by a bass singer who sang like a tenor all the way down to an octave deeper than an average bass in a single life. Phew, you are a hard one to impress, lol.
😂 I will try different songs before I say no completely. To me it was depressing. Sorry my mind just isn't in a good spot right now. I need uplifting. 😢
Don't forget Dream On. That was an incredibly poignant version.
Absolutely, that was brilliant! @@RWHansen
Thank you so much for that comment R.D! That really helped us for our next video we recorded with the names and info 😊
Glad to help! @@highlyreactivereactions
You will not regret being introduced to Voiceplay. Quite different from most acapella groups, they are often very theatrical. They enlist many outside guests to perform with them. J. None is a former member who has joined the Navy and comes back to perform with them when invited. I listen to them as much as I do Home Free because they are both fantastic in very different ways. hj
From what we have heard they sound amazing and looking forward to hearing more of them 😊
@@highlyreactivereactionsthank you so much for a great reaction to Voice Play.
Thank you for those recommendations 😊
#voiceplay are, as others already mentioned, the "theatre kids of a cappella", and some people can't forgive them for that. 🙂
I personally love the theatric spin they put into their videos. 🙂
Subscribed in anticipation for more of their stuff... 😉
I completely agree with your recommendations!
Thank you for your subscription and sharing that information. I can promise that there is alot more Voiceplay coming to the channel 😊
Thays amazing! Thank you for helping us with the names
To be fair, Layne, jumping in for him as they put Geoff more out front, is kind of a Bass at this point.
I always enjoy seeing someone discover #voiceplay for the first time. Amazing talent in the group. Enjoy your trip down the Voiceplay rabbit hole.
It's been a pleasure and we look forward to seeing more of them.
Thank you so much for sharing that information 😊
i love seeing reactors watching voiceplay for the first time
They are amazing
Thank younfor sharing that information 😊
Love that!
Different seasons of Sing Off. Voice Play had a female at that time. Don’t think they won. Home Free did. Doesn’t make a difference, just saying. No question Voice Play has become amazing, especially in the last few years.
Home Free and Voiceplay were both on the 4th season of the Sing-Off
So welcome to the theatre kids of acapella. They are crazy talented. (Pentatonics are the Student Council) and Home Free are the guys hanging out in the parking lot having a tailgate party!
Thanks for having us 😊
Wow amazing #voiceplay Great reaction by greay gentleman
Thanks Megapint 😊
Haha sounds amazing! Looking forward to seeing more Voiceplay
Check out Geoff Castellucci's Jack's Lament. And Ghost Riders In The Sky.
Appreciate the recommendation
@Voiceplay .Hi Guys, Welcome to Voiceplay and subsequently Geoff Castellucci who has his own channel. I've subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay and Geoff. ❤ 🇬🇧
Appreciate your subscription and more VoicePlay will be following 😊
Subscribing to watch your VoicePlay rabbit trail hunt. You're going to love it!
Thank you for your subscription. More Voiceplay will be coming to the channel 😊
Yeah we for that in the end and we really enjoyed it. Thank you for those names ☺️
Sounds amazing. Thank you for the recommendations
#voiceplay... really needs the jaws theme when you start watching them because we are coming.
Welcome to the party. G1 Geoff is having fun.
Haha these guys are just amazing 😊
Amazing that this is from nDisney’s “Hunchback of Norte Dame”. This is the ultimate villain song!
Haha yeah we did clock on eventually. Just been a long time since we saw the movie lol
Im glad you found #VoicePlay! They are so talented and fun. I hope you're ready for the ear candy!😅
These guys always put out excellent videos. 😊
Looking forward to seeing more of them 😊
Great reaction lads. Enjoying finding new artists with you #voiceplay
Thankyou Nutz!
This is quite a song to jump into the Voiceplay rabbit hole with.
It is excellent but not exactly a typical Voiceplay effort.
I do hope you explore many more songs by them as well as solo works by Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci (Cast-a- loo-chee).
Thank you for your comment. More Voiceplay coming to the channel
Thank you for those recommendations 😊
Everyone already gave you a lot of info so I’m just here to say loved your reaction and you should definitely react to more VoicePlay! They are incredible!! ❤
Thank you so much for the kind words and there will be alot more Voiceplay coming to this channel.😊
Yaaaay was hoping you'd get to Voiceplay, I adore them
We are glad we found them through you lovely people
ding ding you got it, Hunchback of notre dame, try song creep, oofie boogie, Dream on
Haha took awhile but it's been over 20 years since we heard it 😂
I’ve subscribed to see more VoicePlay reactions please 😊 xx
Thank you for your subscription 😊 More Voiceplay coming very soon!
Thank you for the info and recommendations
J. None.
Actually, I think HF's "Elvira" started out as Geoff's arrangement of it for VoicePlay. Layne helped HF on the "Butts Remix".
*Significantly different line up
Thats amazing information. Thank you for sharing 😊

They are amazing 😊
Sounds amazing and down the line we will be checking that group out. Very excited for it. Thank you for your comment
Thank you for those recommendations. We are enjoying the Voiceplay experience 😊
Wow thank you for sharing that information with us 😊
#voiceplay Love this group along with Geoff (Jeff) Castelucci's solo videos. I try to watch every reactor to their latest songs/covers.
Appreciate it
Loooove #voiceplay!!
Sounds perfect! Thank you for the recommendation
#Voiceplay.
Valhalla Calling is recorded and will be released soon 😊

Appreciate the kind words and the comment! Much love
Appreciate all that information 😊 Helps us out big time
@@highlyreactivereactions
You're very welcome 🤗.

J. None - not sure his range, probably low tenor/baritone
Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - inhuman bass
Eli (Ellie) - high tenor
Cesar - tenor

Appreciate that 😊 Helps us big time
About what they're wearing: since this is about a 19th century religious official sinking into evil, they are wearing dramatically styled black coats, and a couple of them wear crosses. Geoff, though, as the villain, is wearing a red jewel (borrowed from his wife?).
Love it tbf 😂
Theatre kids of acapella for a reason.
Love it
Great reaction, glad you found VoicePlay!
Us too. They are amazing
(You are going to LOVE it.)
I am glad other reactors are picking up on this group as they are my favorites for lots of reasons.
Thank you so much for sharing that Information with us. Helps us get to know the group better 😊
Welcome to the #Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. They are known as the Theater Kids of Accapella. They also do everything themselves, from arrangements to lighting and editing (except final editing)
Yes this is the Villain song from Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Introductions:
Layne Stein beatboxer/vocal percussionist/Baritone founding member of Voiceplay. He arranges about half their songs. He also is Co-owner of Patty Cake Productions (with former member Tony Wakim) were they film most of their videos
J None Baritone and featured guest singer.
He's also a voice actor and usually does the extra voices when needed (voiced the gaurd in thus song)
Cesar de la Rosa Sassy Baritone/Tenor newest member of the group.
The guy/gaurd thst came in wad Tony Wakim former member and Co-owner of Patty Cake Productions (you should check out their work too)
They are still down one member so they have a lot of Featured Artists join them, any would make perfect additions to the group.
You can choose any songs from their vast collection and never go wrong.
Thank you for sharing that information with us 😊
I adore #VoicePlay! Happy to see you found them.
We are really loving them
Voiceplay is my second favorite a cappella group, right after Home Free. The two groups are friends, by the way. The bass, Geoff, has some fantastic solo work on his solo channel. His recent cover of Jack’s Lament from Nightmare before Christmas is a treat and shows his vocal agility. I think you’d enjoy it.
Awesome group and thank you for sharing that information 😊
Great reaction. VP does everything from Disney to Metal ,Broadway to Game Themes. They do theatrical with full makeup and sets to straight a Capella on stools something for everyone. #voiceplay
Amazing stuff 😊
#Voiceplay they are amazing all of them get their turn, us loyal fans will watch with interest to see if you do more. Most of us also love Homefree ❤🏴
Mad respect to you and there is more VP coming to the channel 😊
The Bass singer, Geoff (Jeff) has his own channel. He isn't acappella on it, but he does all the parts sung, as well as some of the instruments. I didn't see it mentioned, but he has a massive range, as shown here. On his site, I would suggest you listen to Ain't No Sunshine, the Bill Withers cover.
Thank you for the recommendation
For your next one you should do Valhalla Calling , Wayward Son. Also the middle guy is Geoff he does his own too, check his Sound of Silence , House of the rising sun and Jack's Lament from nightmare before Christmas.
Thank you for the recommendations
@@highlyreactivereactions your very welcome
#voiceplay!!! Welcome to voiceplay 😊😊
Thank you so much 😊
Layne, J-None, Geoff, Eli (el-ee), and Ceasar Delarosa.
J-None is actually in the military musical corps. He was in the group and comes back sometimes.
Thank you for sharing ☺️
I’ll come back when you do their version of Valhalla Calling. It will blow your mind. ❤
Thank you for your recommendation 😊
Welcome to the awesome world of VoicePlay! I also highly recommend checking out Geoff Castellucci's (the bass in the middle) solo channel. He's EPIC!
We will have to check it out 😊
Subbed for more VoicePlay. Thanks
Thanks for the sub. Be sure to check out our Voiceplay playlist 😊
Enjoy! 😊
Thank you for that advice Ray 😊
Great Reaction to Voiceplay.
Glad you enjoyed it
Geoff is the primary bass, but Layne (vocal percussion) can provide basement notes whenever he wants, and often does backup bass when Geoff is reaching for higher notes.
Thats amazing
Left to Right:
Layne - beatboxer/baritone
J.None - Tenor, honorary 5th member of VoicePlay until he's discharged from the US Navy
Geoff (Jeff) - Dragon/Demon/Earth-shaker/Rumble God/Bass
Eli (bald guy) - Counter Tenor/Rock Tenor extraordinare
Cesar - High Tenor
Appreciate the info 😊
Haha yeah we have that one released on our playlist 😊 thank you for sharing that information
#VoicePlay is one of the best aca groups out there, and since you're already familiar with #HomeFree you should note that the boys have been friends since their Sing Off days. you should check out their song Just Sing (turn on subtitles! Cause they have Easter eggs in there)
I love that they kept a friendship over the whole thing
I ration out my 'Subcribe' button hits. But you guys did such a good job on this video I am hitting subscribe now. Voiceplay is my favorite acapella group, and as many have commented, Geoff has his own channel that is worth watching. I cannot wait to see you delve deeper into Voiceplay.
Thank you for subscribing to the channel. We are glad you enjoyed it 😊
More Voiceplay please!!
More on the way 😊
#Voiceplay!❣️❣️❣️
💯
Subbed for the PTX reaction you did and you mentioned Voiceplay so I am watching those now. PTX and Voiceplay are two of my favorite groups! Suggest checking out 'Moana Medley', 'We Don't Talk About Bruno', 'Little Mermaid Medley' and 'Creep'
Thank you for checking out our videos. We appreciate the support
Typo: I think you meant "Rob Lundquist guests on VoicePlay's video of Movie Themes," not Pentatonix's. :)
@@cqc275 - You're absolutely right! I corrected it! Thanks!
Looking forward to hearing more of all of them 😊
You definitely have to react to "Hoist the Colors" "Valhalla Calling" and "Enemy"
Thank you for the recommendations ☺️
L to R: Layne Stein (percussionist and occasional baritone/bass), J None (former member who comes back - baritone), Geoff Castellucci (bass supreme), Eli Jacobson (Elly - superb tenor), and Cesar de la Rosa (baritone/ tenor).
Thank you for sharing that information 😊
❤❤
This version has been stuck in my head for DAYS, lol. You've got me wondering what you guys would think of Dan Vasc (anything really, he's amazing), his 2 latest is Number of the Beast & Amazing Grace. Another to check out would be Valhalla Calling by Peyton Parrish & Miracle of Sound
Haha it is certainly infectious 😂
The original song is actually this dark and a lot more creepy and is prob the darkest Disney villain song.
Actually did rewatch the Disney scene and it was tbh. Couldn't quite remember as its been well over 20 years since watching it or hearing it
#voiceplay Welcome to the Rabbit Hole of VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci, who has got own stuff on UA-cam too.
Thank you for those recommendations 😊
#Voiceplay The problem with pegging the members into silos is most have 4+ octave ranges. BTW Geoff arranged Homefree's Elvira with the Oakridge boys. You should also check out Geoff's solo channel
We will check it out
❤❤❤😊😊😊
#voiceplay You should really check out their version of Nothing Else Matters
On the list 😊
1:35 well no... while Layne can also sing bass and does in fact sing most of the bass part up til the burn it, that right there you are probably talking about is the camera panning to him because he takes over the lead melody, while Geoff does Geoff things xD
From left to right:
Layne the Alien that swallowed a drumkit+, J.None the secret weapon/chameleon, Geoff the Dragon, Eli the rock god and Caesar the sassy Angel... none of them are human :p
#voiceplay
Just a few.
Looking forward to this rabbit hole. Thank you for those recommendations 😊
Look at Valhalla Calling! Talk about theatrical!
Haha yeah its on pur playlist 😊
#voiceplay you guys should check out voiceplay cover of nothing else matters. It's also featured jnone. And you get a better sense of his vocal talents. Also valhalla calling featuring jnone. Prepare to have you minds blown.
Thank you for those recommendations 😊
#VoicePlay
Also check out Geoff Castellucci solo channel for awesome low bass singer covers. He arranges about half of Voiceplay's songs and all of his solo stuff.
We will be getting round to his solo work Shirley 😊
New subscriber! I recommend Halo Theme and/or Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim! Great reaction!
Thank you for your subscription and recommendations
#voiceplay You definitly react to more voiceplay
Please can you do voiceplay Valhalla calling
Please
Thank you for that recommendation 😊
#Voiceplay left Layne Stein beatboxer, J None feature artist used to be in the group, Geoff bass, Eli Tenor, Caesar De La Rosa Baritone
Appreciate the information 😊
@@highlyreactivereactions anytime I've been a fan of #Voiceplay for a while they're very talented

Damn, you're the first male reactors I've seen on YT that gab even more than the female reactors.
An accomplishment!! Boom
Geoff the long hair main singer is the bass voice!! By the way you guys talk too much!!!
Yeah thats just how we roll but we appreciate the feedback
Not impressed maybe a different song?
Not impressed by a bass singer who sang like a tenor all the way down to an octave deeper than an average bass in a single life. Phew, you are a hard one to impress, lol.
😂 I will try different songs before I say no completely. To me it was depressing. Sorry my mind just isn't in a good spot right now. I need uplifting. 😢
Thats fair Tina 😊 Nothing wrong with not enjoying a particular song. We have recorded more and we think you Will like them 😊
