56, and now it's been over 2 years on healthy keto and 6 months now (omad). Lost over 100 lbs. Had 54" waist now have 38" waist. I was able to come off all my prescription medications slowly but surely within that first year of eating healthy keto. I haven't felt this good in years. What a journey it's been for me. I have the energy and strength now to take care of my father (83) (dementia) and my youngest brother (50) autoimmune disorder and hip displacement (bedridden). I have to continue to be strong for them as being their caregiver.

I find it odd how much experts fear a state of fasting. We are designed to withstand periods of time without or limited food. It's only in the last hundred years or so that much of the world is no longer food insecure.
My mom transcribed many of my grandfather's stories from his years in Europe. He spent many years where it wasn't clear he'd even have a single meal a day, let alone multiples meals filled with a variety of fruits and vegetables. He lived until his late 80s with no known health conditions.
In modern times, we eat too often and too much. A clean keto way of eating brings us back to a healthier level of food intake.

I understand it. For thousand of years, lack of nutrition was a significant factor in many illnesses. From scurvy to starvation, people needed to eat more and more often than they often had access to in order to be healthy. Famine was a horseman of the apocalypse and wiped out entire cities. That reality of human living existed in the US and UK within the lifespans of (retired) doctors and scientists today. Now we have adequate food, but that general "to be healthy you need to make sure to eat" concept still holds, and likely will for another generation or two.
The Black Death -- the Bubonic Plague -- still sounds scary. Even though a simple dose of streptomycin (or virtually any other common antibiotic) will quickly cure you. It pops up in the western United States fairly often: about 10 people a year. It doesn't spread because it is now trivially addressed. But it still sound scary. Fasting invokes the specter of famine and hundreds of generations of illness due to lack of adequate nutrition.

WTF does that even mean? Is that a legitmate medical term, because it sounds more like sensationalism. Zombies don't exist and can't exist for reasons due to physics and the way our world operates. Hollywood sensationalism at best. Cognizant FUD is common among journalists nowadays. Finance media is the biggest peddler in FUD(Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) just ask anybody fighting naked short sellers.

Some people just have such difficult to heal derangements that when they go to keto or carnivore it's very difficult for their bodies to function correctly after so many decades of terrible diet. Examples would be low stomach acid, insufficient bile flow or reabsorption, electrolyte dumping, and oxalate dumping.
It's a long road to healing in some cases. And some blame the proper diet on their issues when it's really the decades of improper diet.

I don't know what " not to understand " ? For longer your LDL is raised ( and stays raised) - more arteriosclerosis you have and more strokes and heart attacks. Of course not for all people ketogenic diet will raise LDL ( for some it will even lower down. ) It's probably genetics what decide. But yes: if you gonna eat every day eggs lard steaks sausages , cream butter ,bacon YOU WILL RAISE YOUR LDL EVENTUALLY AND TOTAL CHOLESTEROL TAKING YOU CLOUSER TO STROKES AND HEART ATTACK SIDE. Question: do you wanna risk? Another question: do people with low LDL ( 70 or under 70) have arteriosclerosis and heart attacks- strokes, arterys heart calcification? Answer is: NO ! ( extremely rare! ).THATS THE BEST PROOF. It's not rocket science... Why not to base your ketogenic diet on lean meats : chicken turkey fish seafood nuts almonds avocado olive oil greens ?
