  • The state is verifying social equity applicants for three weeks, but a lot of people are struggling to prove they qualify as social equity applicants because their marijuana convictions have been wiped clean.

so, even tho it was ridiculous at the time, it was still illegal. a law was broken. but now a criminal is more eligible than a non criminal to start a business? makes no sense to me. i'm not trashing on criminals, i've been to prison twice myself. never been busted for drugs. this country's laws just make no friggin sense anymore.

Sorry, I'm confused. Getting a ticket and fine qualifies as social equity? This feels like a misinterpretation of the programs intent. Isn't it for people who have suffered unfair applications of the marijuana prohibition?

    • @WaxPaper

Well yeah, but even being ticketed for cannabis in the past is more of an impact than nothing at all. You'd think they'd give priority to people who suffered more, but who knows.

Depends, how much was the fine? Did having this conviction cause loss of employment, or bar them from advancement?
This whole concept of law enforcement, and bureau of prisons being seen as caused harm, and any aspect of reparations becoming reality, is wild. It's wonderful, and amazing. Glad to have lived long enough to see some sanity.

Heres how easy it should be to start a business..
Citizen: Hi, I'd like to start a business. How do I register?
Govt lackey: Uh, OK. Here's a form. Fill this out, pay us $xx in processing fees & your license will arrive in 7 to 10 business days. Thank you & good luck!
Can't get any more equitable than that.

Its simply amazing how people complain their incomes are so low but they always have enough money for booze and drugs. Then at the end of the day when the high wears off, they once again start at ground zero, minus the money they spent on it and will do it all over again the next day. Its like you can't make this stuff up.

Government fucking everything up but you have to be perfect double standard. Shit this state had a 5 billion dollar surplus of tax money and they still raised taxes. So they couldn’t figure out how to blow all the money but needed more. Still paying for the stadium too they never took that tax off
