Ive wasted so much time looking for a rigging video for beginners and they all suck. They skip things, or move the mouse too fast. This was perfect thanks.
even though this came out 4 years ago it's massively helped me understand modeling and rigging. thanks so much man, wish you'd have made more tutorials
I have been looking for a clean simple rigging tutorial for a while now. I had to search for " rigging a dog head in c4d " to bring this video. Very easy to follow, so thank you for that.
Great video. I learned a lot through the 3 part series Rick. And I couldn't help but notice your Faith, Love, Hope poster. Always love to see God's word and brothers unashamed of proclaiming it!
As a Hobbyist C4D beginner , I wanna thank you so much for this very interesting and educational Tutorial, this was easy to follow and very well explained - I feel that i have learned so much in so little time, please go ahead with those series. :D
Enjoyed your tutorial, I learned much especially on rigging and coming to the topic of rigging can you please make a tutorial on human rigging and how to use the tool for there is very little tutorials on this subject apart from bit here and there!
I use this same setup to rig humans as well. Cinema's auto rigging tool is great, but sometimes it doesn't work when polys from one part are too close to another part.
Hey man, I'm using C4D r20 and Im kind a lost to this timeline 41:58. I mean there is no ERASE option in command mode? and hopefully, il get through with it. Thanks
I haven't downloaded R25 yet, so I can't exactly say if it's a bug or not, but there are a few instances that it may not work. The first potential reason is that the object isn't completely symmetrical to begin with so it can't find the opposite side to put the symmetry point. Another reason is that your object axis is off. Hitting "L" to realign the axis might help. Also, the object might be too thin as well. If the brush size is too large, it may be reaching to the underside of the mesh as well. When the symmetry option is added, both sides compete to grab the surface and nothing happens. If you find the bug on several different meshes and none of these tips helped, you will probably want to submit a bug report to maxon.
That's difficult to say without seeing the project. My top two guesses would be eIther your joints aren't properly parented/nested with each other or something went wrong during the weighting process.
Hey so i followed this step for step but for Whitetail deer rather than a dino. I'm curious if there is any way i can add all these joints and the mesh to a Character Object so it can be animated with C-Motion
I'm using R21 and it doesn't display the colored weights on the mesh? Did they change in since 2018? Or maybe I did something wrong. I selected all the bones and then the mesh. There was no joints only box in my version, just adding a number to how many joins. Edit: never mind, had to make ALL the mesh editable.
I believe you have to have the weight manager open or the weight tag on the object selected (double click). The weight manager is the best option though. It's in the character menu near the top (I think it's a side menu)
Hi Rick, working with R23 I'm not able to follow you the moment the weight is removed. Can you help me going again or is it a complete different work around?
I recently rigged something in R23 and didn't have any issues so something might not configured properly. What's the timecode in the video that you're having an issue with?
@@lundskowdesign Hi Rick, it's at 42:40 where you chose to delete from the menu. In R23 it checks whether this command is no longer there. How can I clear the weight and continue to follow this tutorial?
This is the best tutorial I've seen so far on rigging. Excellent process. Thanks.
Subscribed.

Yo thanks so much! I've been meaning to make more tutorials, but life has a way of filling up the schedule.

Glad to hear it! It's definitely not the perfect solution, but it's the best way I've found when auto-rigging provided sketchy results.
One of the best tutorials i've seen. Really well explained. Thanks a lot man
I'm glad it helps!
Great video. I learned a lot through the 3 part series Rick. And I couldn't help but notice your Faith, Love, Hope poster. Always love to see God's word and brothers unashamed of proclaiming it!
Thanks, John! It's one of my favorite posters that I've made.

Absolutely! I'm doing freelance work now, so I have more time to dedicate to tutorials & other resources.
Awesome
I am taking a guess here, I think you will have some Substance tutorials coming up
The way you make food man, it looks tasty XD
Keep it up!
IDMOJ I have another tutorial in mind that will show the power of Substance Designer & Painter together.
Stay tuned!
Wicked Man!
Waiting for it now
Hey man, you are amazing.
Greater content

Hey Franco, I believe it's now called subtract instead of erase. Let me know if that works!
32:52 How did you turn that into a null? On my end I can't see what you did.
Alt+G add a null as a parent object
I'm on C4D25 and my symmetry doesn't work on the grab tool. I have xz and link symmetry selected. Has anyone seen this issue?

is a very good tutorial !!! thanks you
hey what should i do if when i move the head random parts are stuck not moving with the rest of the mesh??

I don't have any real experience with C-Motion so I can't answer your questions, sorry.
@@lundskowdesign no worries thanks anyways!
I haven't erase mode in Cinema, how can I remove the weights?
I believe it was renamed to "Subtract"
@@lundskowdesign thank you!
