Give to the people the knowledge for separate streaming and recording with two instances. We need that
just open obs 2 times, it will ask you if u want to open another instance, just test and try before your computer starts to burn

The portable install is huge. I stream on the weekends from a separate machine and can never mess around too much with scenes and sources without risking ruining everything. Looking forward to setting everything up from my work computer, have it sync to google drive and then running the stream from the other machine without having to physically go in there beforehand to test everything out. Thanks Nutty.

Fantastic Video! This helped me in 2023 to Setup Multiple versions of OBS 27 & 29 (Mobile Version) so I can stream on Twitch & Then use 2nd Copy to Stream on UA-cam without having to log in/out of Stream Elements & Re do my OBS Settings all the time. Big LOVE! ❤

Great tips, especially the portable OBS one. Might've been good to mention that ALL audio sources going to your stream need to be checked off on track one or the stream won't hear them. I ran into that issue long ago when setting up separate audio tracks for recording.

I had no idea for the canvas. For the portable OBS, I actually use that at the moment. I made one main setup and then I copied it to different folders and use that as the baseline for different types on streams I do. So if I mess something up in one, the others are fine. Good video, again. :)

I'm most excited about source transitions.
I have this image I toggle on and off when I have to go afk, but it's a png so you can still see the gameplay behind it. It takes up like a little over a 3rd of the screen. But currently shows and hides with a hard cut and when I made that image I already had the idea of having it slide in and out, only to find out that wasn't a thing. But it is now

Used OBS for video capture for just as long as you...(actually taught it to my advisor's classes) And I never knew about the panning until now.
Portable OBS is a GREAT way to test things without fouling your main setup, or if you stream for a different entity and you want that setup to be completely different from what you normally stream with.

I knew about canvas panning, but I didn't know about the zoom!
One little tip that maybe can save your time boys & girls: if you open the new obs exe (portable mode) with Admin rights, he will read the root folder including all the scenes (this can be usefull if you wanna record with a different profile and OBS installation on a separate one). What would be a great feature for me, is to have an option do select or deselect which overlays I want while "Recording" and Streaming at the same time. All I want in my recordings is the Game Capture, Cam (with Greenscreen), and no overlays. Source record cannot do greenscreen cam, plus It uses a lot of cpu or gpu. I was going to use a second OBS for recording with no overlays and just the Game and Cam, but I cannot use the Cam with 2 apps at the same time (while Streaming too). So you see this is something I would love to resolve.
Yes please tell us how to record the cam and gameplay separately.
You don't need voicemeeter to isolate game audio. You just need to select 'Cable Output' in the 'recording' tab of windows sound control panel, properties, 'listen' tab, check the box. They have a listen feature built into the thing via Cable Output. Voicemeeter is utterly redundant, adds delay, and doesn't play nice with some CPUs.

wow, the portable obs was my favorite, hell yeah, but i have doubt @nutty, our scenes and plug-ins will be keep on that folder, and so our scripts, so the plug-in things that includes plug-ins like obs.live or own3d pro?? those plug-ins will also be save on the folder to move them??

I've been using OBS for years, had no idea about canvas panning
I'm a huge fan of portable apps and have been using it for a long time. It's a great way to record OBS tutorials without getting the infinity effect when you cut to your OBS screen.
The one down side is plugins that have to install things outside of OBS. Then if you take portable OBS to a machine that those aren't installed on you break OBS or at least some functionality.
i'm curious if you've found a workaround for this? I want to set up a portable obs and send it to my clients (rather than walking them through how to set it up and add elements and move things around) but if they also have to download the same plugins I may have to think about how to approach this option
@@raguellagrande7344 Sorry no. Many plugins will run off the thumb drive but a few are required to be installed on the PC. Try not to use those. Also you will most likely have to walk your clients through setting up their webcam and audio. Their computer would have to be identical to yours to have everything pre-configured.
@@WolfsHaven yes I understand, I guess I was just hoping for too much. For example of you buy a prime membership in streamlabs obs, it will find and resize she place your camera in each scene you install... But I recognize this is not exactly the same thing as my original intent. Always looking for the best customer experience (and is rather do it than confuse someone less technical as I struggle skiing with them for placements lol)
