@@YTStopCensoringFreedomOfspeech I think they dont let you use backup sights for scoped weapons so they have basically no disadvantage vs ironsights. It's kind of weird because now Turkey and Australia get to toggle 1x/4x so it cuts into that basically, but you still get the time-delay of ADS as a scope.
@@McSniffle backup sights are still trash compared to dedicated sights. They should include them because you cannot do point-shooting in this game. The game doesn't have another mechanic allowing you to aim your weapon without using sights like instinctive shooting. Back-up sights simulate this method and provide the technique of what you would be doing for point shooting. I think they were trying to simulate point shooting when using iron sights on some weapons during some versions of the play test for the infantry overhaul, when you aim down those sights and move around. Your character lowers the weapon in a more point-shooting stance. If the point shooting stance isn't added, at least give us backup sight usage. Blindly spraying when not scoped in is not helpful at all unless you tape something in the middle of your monitor

This reminds me of the early days of the Xbox Battlefield 3. There were heaps of new comers who had never played bf before so entire servers all tried to play in squads tactically instead of just just running solo or faming kills from the edge of the map.
I’ve been having fun on squad as a fairly new player, and have been trying out the new global escalation mod which definitely has its kinks. I do have this issue tho where my game randomly skips frames for no real reason and was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a legitimate settings guide of sorts. Thanks

It's easy just shoot everyone 🤷♂️ nah actually just play the game more, also become the top 5% squad player by opening the map before taking shots to confirm it's not a friendly you're looking at. I tend to cut it out of videos because it's kinda jarring but before almost every encounter with the enemy I open my map, either to confirm the guy I just saw is an enemy, or if I think I'm about to encounter enemies I open the map beforehand and get a grasp of which friendlies are around me and where they are, this way if a dude suddenly appears in a bush you can instantly shoot instead of second guessing yourself.
This seems like the perfect balance between realism and viable gameplay. I can't believe they buried this massive change and are acting like it's not an incredibly good, game fixing change.
Reduced visual bobbing but not reduced sway = bullets don't go where reticle points and you can't infer where the bullet will go based on barrel angle.
Is the community any better though, these days? Does the average squad player know how to play the game? The basics? Do they want to cooperate, even if it means potentially having a boring job? Are there competent squad leaders?
from my own experience, It is much worse now. You have squad leaders running around with role kits, or squad leaders that just play the game and ignore the voice chat. Normal squad players don't care about anything, they are playing the game like they are playing Battlefield. I am speaking for the EU servers, NA servers are still okaayy... People talk and cooperate, even If they don't know what they're doing, they are willing to talk to each other. EU servers are like hot diarrhea, you usually fail to find people playing the game the way it is intended. You're better off playing Tarkov since playing Squad in any EU server is the same experience. You are alone.

Nah, its a game that is impossible pick up and all you do is wait in a server queue for 50 minutes to then play 3 hours of matches where all you do is be asked to be medic, walking simulator, crashing in a heli, getting sniped from 2 km away whilst in bushes or get obliterated by mortars. No matter what, your winning or loosing depends only on how good the 5-10 players in vehicles do. I played it years ago and enjoyed it. Now I just wish I could get my money back. You can blame it on a skill issue all you want, but when I play good or shit in other games at least I’m still able to have fun. PS: It also runs like dog shit on lowish settings on my PC, when it used to run just fine when I had a potato a few years ago.

The game is not deeply flawed other than it's ability to be fun hinges a lot on the players. On a good, regular server or even better on clan owned servers, you get events, solid and consistent gameplay everynight, complete compliance and communication. It's a "where you play it" problem rather than a dev problem. Most of the best games ever suffer from this same trait, as they are player-dependent. If you dont plan on getting into being a part of the community, you'll have varying experiences from "i see a lot of potential" to "this cannot be fun" and it's mostly on you and your involvment, nothing to do with skill, or immediate mechanics (even tho there's still work to be done).

Those were the golden times because everyone who played the game knew exactly what they were doing. You didn't have annoying kids or manchildren. Literally, and almost all servers are full of casual players and no one seems to care about playing the Squad as Squad.

That is one way you can paint this picture without any more context. You could just as easily say the devs left it intentionally a bit more overtuned because they needed it noticeable enough to create discussion and moment for EVERYONE to go through the growing pains (not just the hardcore players, which will make up most of the public playtesters) but the casuals that wont bother to playtest. So the next step was probably to put it in the live game, to have a bigger sample size across hardcore and casuals players. ICO is an important change that is going to change the DNA of Squad for the rest of it's life and stay. It's their most important update to nail down. So they needed to get it right, but sometimes in order to get it right, you have to overshoot (overtune) the mark and let a large enough testing bed really go through it. They can turn the ICO dial up to just 1, and players will be like, "eh it's a bit noticable, but I hardly care." Maybe they turn the dial up to 4. There you can probably expect many players to be like, "It's noticeable, interesting, it requires me to adapt a bit, but I can work around it." When their goal is to turn it up as high as possible, with as much as they can get away with, sometimes you can't just pussy-foot around with the dial. You need to go all the way to 10, make an impact and let players go through the motions and really take the time to figure out what they want/dont want. With the dial turned to 10, you let players simmer with it, and give them the time to calm their emotions and adapt. From there, they can take the data from playtesting (when they had the dial at varying levels for Public playtest), and use that to help better fine tune how much lower they need to go, without shortchanging themselves and going lower than they needed to.

I can't remember a single fps game with worse gun sounds than SQUAD, holy fk, kind of paintball sounds, what a difference from modded Arma 3 or Reforger, complete destroys my immersion, cuz the games now finally got real good, looks like it, I quit cuz of the ridiculous scope bouncing and complete lack of accuracy during hip-fire.
I just played 3 games the other day after stopping for a while since the "big" update that changed all the gunplay. Game is still too janky to have almost any fun. If you are suppressed even slightly you cannot hit a target that is 10+ feet away from you reliably even with a pistol. I don't know how any of you dopes think this is a good gameplay feature. I like that they want to slow the game down a bit but they went the wrong way about it. You also barely showed how a gunfight plays out when YOU are also getting shot at. Post some of those.
This is not an airport, you dont have to announce your departure. (thanks for not staying tho, i can tell you lack the nuance and cognitive ability to be a usefull squad member, ICO or not)

Prioritize clarity in scopes, it's in the settings. Rebind zoom key (default f) if zoom isn't working
Rebind or press default it will work. i didn't change anything but the patch made F key paralyzed until I reset the binding
still a lot of performance issues so doesn't feel that great to me.... the weapon sway is much better tho
