- How to check and set the piston ring end gap in the bore, this is done on a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Classic but the principal applies to any engine.
great information! Very little info out there for the royal enfield. Keep up the good work!
good video easy to watch and learn Thanks
Cheers for this vid, other vids work confusing me. Nice one.
Hi Spidiq, I realise this vid is from a long time ago but hoping you may be able to offer some advice. I'm just trying refit my barrel to my enfield bullet but just wondered if you had any tips to compressing the rings so as not to damage them when refitting the barrel over them. I've already broken one of the rings doing it so another set to buy!
Sure thing, if you have some thin aluminium sheet you can cut a strip that's a little shorter than the circumference of the piston but wide enough that it covers the 3 rings, bend it round into a circle and the ends out the opposite way so that you can grab them and pinch them together.
Alternatively. Get the largest widest hose clamp you can. Jubilee clips we call them but depends where in the world you are.
Use that similarly to compress the rings then tap the cylinder gently over them and remove.
Hopefully that makes sense.
Thanks for the tips. Makes sense absolutely, But just want to check that when refitting with a jubillee clip or similar around the rings I'm assuming you should make incremental movements to get the barrel over each ring then move the the jubillee clip down or should the barrel itself push the jubilee clip down as you push it down? if that makes sense???
Oh and also, one last quick question. Did you use any sort of gasket sealant on the base gasket or did you find that it sealed well on its own without?
@@simonlacey6153 ideally try to get one wide enough to cover at least a couple, failing that use three and slide one over the other removing the lower one as you go, a second pair of hands helps.
@@simonlacey6153 I just used a smear of grease, you could use a thin smear of silicone but it's not necessary if the mating surfaces aren't damaged, the oil pressure isn't that high.

I'd love to be able to do one in Hindi for you, sadly I don't speak Hindi, I barely speak any other languages, sorry, hope it's useful all the same.
