While I am quite proud of two shout-outs in a Travis Bell video, and even prouder that he gave me the MiniRam, I am most proud to be friends with Travis Bell and enjoy the smiles he brings everywhere he goes. If he is not your hero he should be.
I'd like to see it done in the style of an actual NASCAR race. Former drivers as commentators, slow panning drone shots as they thank sponsors (real, or made up), a camera right off the track at a high speed section. All of it.
I don't think I have ever had a better time racing anything, it was absolutely nuts out there on the track! We are all very lucky to have Travis as a friend!
A house came up for sale here that already had a kart track in the backyard. I imagined exactly these kind of shenanigans, but it was wayyyy out of my price range. Thanks for reigniting the dream Travis!
I grew up a couple of exits south of Greenwood the town Travis grew up in. He's not much older than me, and I distinctly remember cruising in Greenwood, IN, and seeing AND hearing the Geo Tracker he speaks so fondly of! Every Travis story hits home for me. Love it.
OMG, that sounds like so much fun. Next to my grandparents house was a strip of government land used to run utilities that we mowed and cared for. One year someone gave my brother and I an old gocart so we used an old plow truck someone left on my grandparents property to smooth out a track on the government strip of land. Then we put tractor tires on the gocart so it got some grip in the dirt and had a blast racing around our track. :)
We've got this down here in Southeast Missouri 😂 guy turned a better part of 20 acres into a track, nothing but men in their 50s out there tearing it up
17 times in 30 months is pretty on par with living a good life. I’ve had the neighbors call the cops about half as many times in about 18 months so I’m right there with you. 😂 Each time just makes me want to push the envelope a little bit more!
Travis, When you do this again, you should put out a call to former marching band people to bring their instruments and see how rusty they are. Star Speckled Banana and your state's anthem, Sweet Home Carolina, On The Road Again, 50 Ways to Say Goodbye, and a bunch of other audience favorites that they can sing along too. I'd show up with my dented student horn that I still have and sometimes play. (I really need to get my butt back in playing shape. Round's a shape?)
Ed, this might be the greatest VinWiki car story yet! Been waiting on this since I heard old Rob Pitts make a few mentions of it on his channel. This is Travis' "Mona Lisa", a masterclass in hilarity and storytelling so good I had to watch it a 2nd time!
@@christophermichaels you just made my day, I've watched you vinwiki playlist probably 50 times, I could listen to you talk all day. The misses even knows yours story's from heading me play them lol. Thank you, have a great day! I can't wait to tell her lol.
Only 17 times?!? You’re ahead of the game, Travis! 🤣😂🤣…. Always invite the neighbors, and warn them ahead of time of the days and noise levels. It helps.
I thought for a split second that he was gonna bamboozle us, in a fashion that only Travis Bell could, and throw a dramatic pause between the numbers when he said the neighbors called to complain 17 times. Like, if he said, seven......teen times, lol. I'm actually kinda surprised he didn't.
This is just the coolest thing ever! Think about the atmosphere. Serious silly is the best kind, especially when taken too far. I'm awaiting international broadcasting of this event. Love it!
I hope they broadcast the go kart race the next go round, livestream on UA-cam! That would be epic! I can see bets being made on various cars too 😂 what a cool event!
Travis Bell is just the best. He'll always get a thumbs up from me. He lives only about 3 hours west of me & I hope to meet him some day & it'd be a once in a lifetime experience to be there for the next Backyard 400. BTW... Rob Pitts should be the Master of Ceremonies 🙂
I watched the 2022 Backyard 400 on Stapleton’s UA-cam and the black Indy car (#44) wrecked multiple people in that race including his brother in law. He was basically living Forza 7 online in real life by punting people off of the track to gain positions.
No lie, growing up my family had 40 acres of land that basically just sat there unused (currently we lease it to a local farmer) but I always had this dream of doing this very thing! This is awesome!!!
This is something I would love to do!!!! I have an old go kart from the 80s and I'd make a Ford Transit Supervan body for it. Even though my favorite driver is Richard Petty and the go kart is painted in his Superbird color and has his number. 😂
You must be a brother from another mother because this is the kinda stuff that makes it all worth while. Great work and what an awesome idea! Super in on this kinda hilarity and caution thrown to the wind for nothing more than pure joy! Bravo!
I’m envisioning this becoming a “real” racing series. Privately owned golf courses all over the continent (or world for that matter) could be on the schedule.
I didn't realize that this race took place in Indy! I knew Travis lived in Indy, but I didn't realize that he put the race on. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the next one and see if I can't sneak in.
Only 17 complaints in 30 months... You have very understanding neighbors!
Doesn’t want goats and horses near him but builds a racetrack
@@RileyGeinburning rubber and shit dont mix very well
He kinda doesn't mention he sold most of the neighbors their houses.
You can get older but you sure don't have to grow up!
This is next level, from childhood hot wheels racing made in to real life in backyard.... Travis god bless you
Amen
What I wouldn't give to give that a shot. Where do I sign up?
Finally racing I can MAYBE afford…
I definitely want to race there
For a moment I thought this was gonna be about the go karts you can rent in Japan, but the Backyard 400 sounds even cooler.
My exact thoughts I almost passed up the video all together bc of that. Glad I watched it though ha
The ones in Japan are super fun. U get to ride in the city streets lol
While I am quite proud of two shout-outs in a Travis Bell video, and even prouder that he gave me the MiniRam, I am most proud to be friends with Travis Bell and enjoy the smiles he brings everywhere he goes. If he is not your hero he should be.
Leave it to Travis to give us the best closing statements of all time. I was wondering when the pesky neighbor was going to get an honorable mention.
He needs better neighbors. Both of mine would only be mad if they didn’t get to race too.
Having one of his neighbors drive the pace car sounds like a good neighbor bribe!
This race needs to be on UA-cam!! Record it next time and do a live feed please…
Various youtubers did videos on it
yes, there is $$ on the table here to support the event. Think of the ad rev televising!!!!
I'd like to see it done in the style of an actual NASCAR race. Former drivers as commentators, slow panning drone shots as they thank sponsors (real, or made up), a camera right off the track at a high speed section. All of it.
Definitely needs commentary. 😎
Travis Bells stories are always the best
Yup, he's up there with Hans Christian Andersen and J. R. R. Tolkien.
Second to only Christopher Michaels.
Thanks, I just have cool friends!
@@bgft91OMG Chris Michaels needs his own channel and some scene reenactments
He's a righteous dude.

If it helped put a smile on your face, then it's worth every dime, Mate!
The best part about this race was you becoming one of my very best friends!
@christophermichaels agreed man, we had an absolute ball, I don't think I've ever laughed as much. And it was our first road trip too!
Only 17 times? Those are rookie numbers, you gotta pump those numbers up!😂
I think all VinWiki story telling regulars need to be in on this years race. Ed, Christopher, Freddy, Tyler, Rabbit and Ficarra would be hilarious
In exotic bodied gocarts 🤣🤣🤣
@@ranranran8316 Bring in David (Car Wizard) in a H1 Hummer go cart
Travis! Give ol Cleetus a call and put that next Backyard 400 on pay per view!
Nooooo, cleets fan boys will ruin it! 😂
Nah, Cleetus'll ban you for gettin in his precious grass.
If i only had 3 turtle shells rotating around my cart ..
Or mushrooms
Now we have to test if banana peels have the intended effect...
The world needs more people like Travis. Like a LOT more!
A house came up for sale here that already had a kart track in the backyard. I imagined exactly these kind of shenanigans, but it was wayyyy out of my price range. Thanks for reigniting the dream Travis!
I was confused why Travis kept emphasizing “walking path”…. I’m sure the city council loves it when when he comes around looking for building permits
This years race is going to be a blast!!
Travis Bell is the kinda friend all of us want but very few of us are lucky enough to have in our lives.

This was so much fun! Thanks Travis for putting it on, looking forward to the next one
This went from back yard fun to full race weekend event. They had a Marshal and a Pace Cart, only thing missing was in air coverage lol
This was such an epic time! Thanks to Travis and his amazing friends for putting it on! Can’t wait to do it all again!
Sounds like the automotive/non-fictional equivalent of the Dr. Seuss book "And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street." So excellent!
He most definitely told his wife it was a walking path but he had this in mind all along

You cannot understand how much fun this event is until you see it for yourself! Thanks again for having me, Travis!
This is awesome! I live about 90 miles from Indy and have had a similar dream house/property plan for decades
This was the most amazing experience i have ever spectated. So glad i was able to go last year and hoping to make it to this years race.
Even before the video started I knew this was a Travis Bell transmission. Good job VinWiki.

“The neighbors have only called the city to complain about me 17 times”
Ah, Marion county!
"Toilet cobra", that is great. Bro, I would love to race in the Backyard 400.
Toilet cobra was an alarmingly accurate description. It was scary.
Yikes!
If word of this gets out, you're gonna need a bigger backyard
Too late

New neighbours are required, mine congratulate me on how awesome my car sounds!👌🤷♂️

That kiwi in the Petty prix was sending it
You know you have money to burn when you drop 110k on a walking path in your backyard. lol
This is the coolest thing I’ve ever heard about. Please livestream this Travis!
Anyone else see the irony in him buying the land to keep from being bothered and then he bothers his neighbors?
Dammit! I want a 1989 Z28 Convertible so badly!
That was one of my favourite stories. LOVED IT!!!
Travis kudos to you being so kind about all the racers. One of them was a little upset from what I saw.
Ha ha ha I did something similar. Bought 10 acres and had buddies come over with a 6.5hp limit. Grass track though.
Super happy to hear there will be another backyard 400
