much pain we endure day-by-day helps me in so many ways and the most important way that it helps me is that I don't feel so alone in my suffering. You are a very special and wonderful
Marian Priest with a great big Heart, so Pure with Love for us. All of Heaven are shining their faces on you today and every day. Peace of Christ be always with you.

Fr. Anthony, my heartfelt gratitude for the excellent and well-presented topic: How to Pray with a Chronic Illness. Thanks for the kindhearted testimony you share of your own chronic illnesses, so extremely inspiring and giving much hope on how to live well. It’s very edifying that helps one faces life more accepting despite it’s challenges. Prayers and full resignation to God’s will is the greatest consolation we can humbly and lovingly offer. Also, thanks for letting us know of the different holy people and Saints who suffered in the most extraordinary way with joy and gladness that glorify God. We must all pray that we can have the strength, faith, hope and courage to do the best we can to imitate them. Thanks be to God for what we have now.

I’ve had 7 GI doctors who still can’t cure me with meds. I’ll look into your zinc thing. I’m in pain every day, and don’t notice it. I offer up the pain for atonement for the sins of my youth. I came across this sermon about chronic illness and I needed to hear this. I’ve been in chronic illness since birth with 3 different congenital illnesses and abnormalities and I’m now 76. I’m in daily pain and sometimes I feel that I fall short of what I should be doing prayer wise. I’m also a person who looks healthy and I’ve always looked far younger than I am. Even my doctor doesn’t understand how ill I am because I don’t look sick. It’s because the Lord strengthens me and puts a smile on my face. Thank you Fr Anthony, for these wise words from someone who truly understands chronic illness and pain. I’ll mention you in my prayers.

I’m stubborn & don’t like taking anything. You helped me realize it’s ok to take pain relief medication & God can work through Dr’s to prescribe it. This is a pain from an automobile accident that will never go away.& requires a pain management Dr. I can now embrace the pain & offer it up for poor souls.

Fr. Chris, thank you for having Fr Anthony explain chronic pain very well said. I’ve been with chronic pain since my husband passed away when I was 40 years old and now I am 74 yrs
As time pass, it gets worst the pain it could be a crisis of a month, and then it stops again it come whenever. I’ve learned a lot from father Anthony reasons of why, and how to face it, and pray to the Lord and I give it up to the souls of purgatory which I’ve learned to do because eventually once they are in heaven, they pray for us here. 🙏⛪️
God bless you, father Anthony may your pain not be so strong that you can carry the cross with the Lords help bless you and please make more homily you have the gift🙏⛪️

Having watched you on live stream and personally attended your mass celebrations at the National Shrine, I can only think of one word that describes you:TROOPER. Father Anthony you are a blessing from God to speak about chronic illness. People have a tendency to brush off how ones feel with e.g., Diabetes which is an awful and a pretty much nasty disease. Whenever I am asked about my well being my reply is always FINE. And that’s what people want to hear and it’s the best answer to give them and push them far away. Diabetes cuts all activities away from you 😔
God bless you Father Anthony I will remember you in my recitation of the Rosary. Please when you feel those pains during the night repetitive Prayers to the Sacred Cross of Jesus are very powerful.

FR. Anthony, while listening to your talk I felt like you were talking to me😂
Unfortunately, about 15 years ago my doctors had to put me out on Disability for physical illness. It was very hard for me to stop working, I cried for almost a year .😔
Me too, Fr. Anthony, it break my heart when my own family tells me I look good because I am thin. They do not realize that occasionally I lose too much weigh due to an intestinal illness. Once a year when I get hospitalized I think they realize I am not good as as I look.😩
I am a little confused because I have been sick for so long that I gave up PRAYING for healing now, I just HOPE for healing. 🙏💕
I do offer up my pain and accept God’s will for me. Yes, I do take a few medications that keep me going, thank God.
Even though I gave up praying for myself I have a young son who unfortunately has inheited some of my physical illnesses and I pray for him every second of my life for miraculous healing. I trust that our Holy Trinity will have mercy on him one day. I will never give up for him🙏💕
God bless you, your loved ones, all Marian priests, brothers, and all the MIC Community🙏💕

As the recipient of many chronic illnesses (I'm the poster child for unseen illness lol) I can edify all with *your* chronic illnesses! One of the most powerful ways to work through the problems is to thank God for the suffering and offer it up to Jesus on the cross - He has suffered every illness and has been tortured for every complaint we have - tell Him how we appreciate His sufferings through the torment of His Cross 😢😢😢

Father Anthony this was just what I needed at the time I needed it. Thank-you for your exhaustive explanation and for the humility to share your personal experience. No matter how long I live I truly believe if we offer these sufferings in our daily offering United with Christ and Heaven they become God’s will for us, these little sufferings, as Jesus refers to them in the Diary of Saint Faustina. When there are so many and they last for decades they do not seem little at all and show heroic virtue saving souls in this manner, not by doing much but by targeting and offering each one, each suffering, each breathe and pain. Also I had no idea about what has been going on with you since literally the time you ‘took the cloth’ (priesthood, as an MIC came to Stockbridge) and before, as you experienced some of these from childhood. Jesus has literally ordained you to a suffering priesthood. You have kept these quiet until it was time to enlighten and strengthen others. Thank-you. From the bottom of my heart. And I pray for you.

As a Chronic Illness survivor I can begin a routine prayer life , maintain it a little while and then you have those mornings lets say when you wake with exacerbated symptoms of various kinds and your routine is thrown off - or you have insomnia and your routine is out the window pretty quick with that one.... And the saints always say that routine in your prayer life is key. But over the years I have learned to stop beating myself up about it and when the routine is jammed up - I just start looking at a new routine. The blessing I have received from a life long chronic illness (various ones combined) is a will to endure and a will to find a way - if I can't do it the normal way I will find some other way if possible to do the thing I need to. Thank God.

Man, I feel this. I have G-HSD, which is a hypermobile / connective tissue disorder, PCOS, and anemia. I have ADHD too, which people don't really see as a chronic illness, but I think it is because it causes chronic burnout and emotional dysregulation that is hard to work with.
My G-HSD used to be really bad in my back to the point I couldn't get up, and the pain made it hard to breathe. But Jesus healed me of the severe pain in my back. 💖
I still have pain since it affects all joints, including vertebrae in my back. I have subluxations, which are basically partial dislocations of joints. It can get very painful but nowhere near as bad as my back used to be. I am so grateful 💖💖💖

💕🙏O Jesus, I implore Your divine assistance for Your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and tepid priests; for Your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for
Your lonely and desolate priests;for Your young priests; for Your dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in purgatory. But above all, I commend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who
    baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me;
all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way.
O Jesus, keep them all close to Your Sacred Heart and bless them abundantly in time and eternity. Amen.💕🙏
