What a crazy last 2 episodes, episode 13 might genuinely be one of the best directed episodes of a show I've ever seen, SO well done.

For some reason they removed rachels line after hwaryun congratulated her for becoming the heroine of the story, "Im afraid of the night". Night in korean being bam.
Only a small addition. If I remember correctly, Hwaryun asked Rachel, why would you go so far just to see the stars? And to that Rachel said: "I'm afraid of the night".
But yeah, unfortunately the anime removed a lot of really good lines and conversations. But I still think it was a good show :)
Although I would strongly suggest for everyone to check out the manwha

from this point forwards, time becomes weird in this story.
due to shinsoo slowing the aging of everyone in progressive stages, there can be massive time skips that just get breezed past.
as of the current chapter, khun is over 30 and looks maybe 18. because of this slowed aging, _you cannot keep track of time by designs._
fun fact.
on the tower of god subreddit, around the time of episode 12 and 13's releases, there was a flood of posts going "so, why was i told rachel is best girl?"
and the answer is that before the anime, the tower of god community was fairly small in the west. so, in the english subreddit, we all collectively agreed to lie to the face of anyone who asked about rachel being suspicious and just say "she's best girl" or "she's my favourite character".
because this betrayal hurt me 12 years ago, and by god, i will spread that pain around lol

12 & 13 are a perfect set of episodes. Each week spent excited to get to the push. Then to 13. A master piece. And yes, season 1 is the prologue. It literally is. Even in the source material
Yuri is NAMED Princess (Princess which climb the Tower and receive 13 Months series sword) - they are famous all around the Tower and usually act as Jahad personal envoy or top rank officiers (above usual chain of command)
There are not many of them - usually one such Princess appears once in 500 years (this speaks volumes how hard it is for regular princess to climb the Tower). Yuri is most recent Name Princess (yep, she is very young - only couple centuries older then Endrossy)
Evanhell is Floor Administrator (one of strongest high Rankers which maintain order on the Floor)
I'd prefer the term Floor ruler, to distinguish it from the actual Administrator

I was just going by the terms the anime translation uses because, let's face it, it will have be what most people will know (and also what Webtoon seems to end up using iirc). I for myself do actually prefer the Administrator term, it gives me more of that "incomprehensible and impartial God" vibes, and doesn't push them into a role, but that is absolutely a question of your own preferences and tastes, I wasn't meaning to affront you, sorry if that was the case.
The frustrated scream was perfect...hahah
I'm also kind of intrigued by the change they made in that final scene with Bam and Hwa Ryun.
In the webtoon, it just ended with Hwa Ryun extending her hand to help him find the answers he seeks by climbing the tower. Bam wasn't in the best mindset at the time, and looked like he was ready to give up. Rachel was his entire reason to climb, and with this betrayal he was just left confused. He was also very angry.
His final words in the webtoon were "I don't know what this feeling in my heart is. I don't know.. I should know why Rachel betrayed me!"
Our boy was distraught, angry, confused and saddened. So many emotions he was feeling for the first time all at once.
In the anime they had Bam stand back up with strengthened resolve, and a declaration to climb the tower to find his own answers like a regular shonen protagonist. None of the raw human emotions he was struggling with in the webtoon.
Some reactors too were surprised like "huh, he's taking this pretty well.."
Now this minor change may seem like it doesn't matter, but this attitude change will be pretty contradictory to a revelation later in the story.
The fight against the bull ws much better in the webtoon. Bam stops its movements with reverse flow control (the move quant taught him) but since he can't make two bangs of shinsu at once, he had to release the bull to try and attack it. He wasn't fast enough and got really beat up by the bull. Then he gives up the reverse flow and just charges a bang to attack, killing the bull with a hyper beam of shinsu.
"I'm literally just mad!" Yup
I've been looking forward to s2 for the past 4 years and now my hype has been rekindled after rewatching this season with you! see you sunday

It’s gonna be a slightly different experience since it’s a new studio working on it but the story and narrative will hopefully still convey the appeal of this series.
When I originally watched this, I caught up when it was at ep 12, and thought it was the end of the season. Which is the reason why I started the manhwa. Some things end and I say “oh hell nah I am absolutely not waiting”

The ost of this show gives me chills. Also Yuri’s entrance was so hype, and Rachel is so vile I’m glad Headon verbally destroyed her even just for a moment.

The author mentioned once that Rachel is meant to be somewhat relatable as she is literally a normal person thrown in between all these, well, protagonists.
And I'll throw a couple of questions for you to obsess about, since you seem to enjoy it. Baam's cave is supposedly outside of the Tower (otherwise he wouldn't open a door to the Tower by himself and be an Irregular) - soooo, why is there a Jahad symbol on the wall? And also: Just HOW did Rachel know about the Tower? I don't remember if they mention it in the anime, but she mentions that she has read a children's book about it, she also recognises Headon as the "fairy who leads the children up the Tower", so what's up with that?
Oh wow, thats so many good questions LMAO, i didnt even consider most of that, though I did wonder how Rachel knew about the tower in the first place since they're both irregulars
@@bluestReacts That's why I put it here, the story is BIG on foreshadowing and dropping small weird suspicious elements that make sense a bunch of years later or that you actually notice after the third re-read/re-watch and then ask yourself "why tf did I not consider that!?". I mean, I'm up to date on the manwha and they still haven't resolved several plotlines dropped in the first season. This is another reason for One Piece comparisons, the amount of weird theories out there is quite impressive, e.g. my favourite Upside Down Tower Theory, which is not really provable, but at the same time absolutely not impossible, kinda like Crocodile Mum theory in One Piece :D
It felt like a prolouge toTower of betrayal because it literally is.
They changed quit a bit in comparison to the manwha (or I remember wrong), the bull was defeated differently, I believe rachels tought were not explored as closely, khun did not say what he said at the end and rachels "I fear the Night (bam)" was taken away.
For the time difference between s1 and S2 if you really want to know expand the comment as it might be a spoiler:
Season two will be roughly 5-6 Tower years after season 1 (both numbers were said in the manwha). I call them Tower years because the author wrotte in one of the after credits parts that 6 tower years are roughly 1-2 years in our world as the tower years have less days. In addition people in the tower lif longer and age slower than in our world (the author did not give a ratio/comparison this time) so these 5-6 years will be closer to a few months of physical growth for them.

One thing they sadly changed is Kurdan's attack against Ren. Kurdan is a wave controller who also has a special position, namely Dansulsa (Breaker). In the source material he doesn't attack directly but used Shinsu and a lighthouse to attack from far away, crushing Ren with the pressure of the hammer + Shinsu combined. That way Ren had no way of knowing who actually killed him.
And now its the begining of tower of betrayal...
Ren was just playing with Anaak and Endorsi. They didn't deal any damage to her. Also, he is still alive. Although she didn't lie when she said they killed her.
I'm glad there are new people comming to the story... its still underrated tho, like you! keep it up

Some great lines were cut in that final episode which is a shame.
Such as:
When Hwaryun congrats Rachel by asking "how does it feel to walk the path of the heroine?"
Hwaryun also asks Rachel why she so desperately wants to climb the tower to see the stars. Rachel replies "I'm afraid of the night." In Korean, Bam can be translated to "night." So her line of dialogue could be interpreted as being afraid of Bam.
When Hwaryun leaves the room after getting Rachel's answer, Hwaryun smirks saying "its time to meet Bam who lost his star."
Such delicious wordplay that I was disappointed was left out of the anime. It may not mean much to the story which is why they cut it, but it was just so juicy when I read those panels.

P.S. In Season 2 a common nickname for Tower of God is Tower of Betrayl.

Its funny thing. You wait for Rachell do shit from the start. You expect this. And then she really did it. Yet this still unexpected. You know what i mean? Strange feeling.
IT really is weird, because I've always thought she was suspicious, but when it actually came down to it, and she finally did it, it was still shocking, even though I knew it was 100% possible

@@bluestReacts That's why I don't tell what is one, cause that'd confirm it. In the comments on this and previous videos there was a healthy mix of manwha-only content, straight-up bullshit (or stuff that's only half-canonical and was probably uncritically pulled off the wiki) and actual spoilers.
I like how so many ppl started hating Rachel after this. For me it was a nice moment, thinking finally we get an interesting character. But then few hundreds of chapters later she did... that. If someone is killing her, it has to be me.
I feel like "finally we get an interesting character" can't be the truth, there's so many interesting characters up until this point, and it's not like just because I hate Rachel doesn't mean I don't think she's an AMAZING character

About Lo Po Bia Ren - he is 67-th Red operative, which means he is basicly your standart footsoldier (from elite unit, but still a basic soldier)
In terms of rank - he is relatively strong ranker but Yuri is top 500 High ranker (1000 strongest rankers which is 1% from total number of rankers)
Rachel is the best character in TOG for the same reason Misa is the best character in Death Note. Always vote for chaos!
We don't know what Headon asked of Rachel. The anime made that up. And that guy, Ghost wasn't an extra life for rachel either. He is still around. Also, welcome to the Rachel hate club.
