The difference of the two systems is key. 8 core/16 thread vs 16 core, 24thread. An 8 core cpu can max out when using multiple programs vs a 16 core cpu having room to spare. That’s why you need more cores for production. Best thing to do is get a capture card and let your intel pc record everything and do the editing. You found the limits of a 8 core cpu.

If you had a 7950x3d, it would work better but still be slower than Intel in some editing. This is why I have an all Intel pc. For editing and stuff. A 300 dollar 770 16g is as good as cards twice its price in editing. You still have quick sync with intel. A cheap 12900k or 12700k works really well with that setup.

@@myamaha62 I thought that would be the issue.
And everything I looked at online pushed towards the gpu handling the capture and the gpu handling the rendering which is why I'm getting massively confused.

@@Spratty-wb3isthe cpu still has to answer everything the gpu requests to do its job. Draw calls. The gpu can be hindered by a low core CPU.

@myamaha62 Dude I'm so dumb I didn't even think that!
      Thank you!!!
So my only real choice if I wanna keep the 7800xd is to buy a capture card?

@@Spratty-wb3is pretty much for content creation or get a 7950x3d. I want you to look at another creator. Tech Notice. You can delete this after you read it. His channel is all about creators and will explain the differences of intel vs Nvidia, vs amd in content creation.

I've never used OBS to record footage, I never used OBS period. I capture all my footage with the shadowplay on Nvidia and ReLive on AMD. I've even captured footage with a 6 year old 6 core Ryzen 2600 the same way on both Nvidia and AMD without any issues.
For the mic I use a USB mic too, it's a Steelseries mic. I run it off the Steel Series software and you can go to the Record settings in the AMD Software and set it to the software on the Mic part

@TerraWare I've set the mic in the relive software, it's an elgato wave 3.
But somehow unless I'm being dumb it's overriding the software cause it keeps turning the volume down and removing the canceling 😂..
Am I right in thinking I can't do HDR?
And can I ask what you use to render?

@@Spratty-wb3is I think you can capture HDR but I personally don't mess with HDR. I use Adobe Premiere and Photoshop primarily

      Rendering with the 7800x3d/7900xtx?
      And that doesn't take hours?
Appreciate the help, I'll look into it..

@@Spratty-wb3is BTW not sure how it appears for elgato but I could choose Steelseries Alias which is my mic in the mic option which would select the mic as the input device or if I run the software which is called Steelseries Sonar Microphone for the mic part I make sure to choose the software, that way it goes through the software with all the similar enhancements you mention.
I do the same thing with Nvidia overlay, I choose the software and than separate the voice track from game so I can edit if I have to.

@@Spratty-wb3is You can use hardware encoding in premiere. The 7900XTX is actually really fast in premiere. Right up there with my 4090
