Great video, I’ve used this method and that’s what got my picky gecko to start eating bugs again. He ate them as a baby, but he lost interest in his adult life. I actually first heard of this from one of your live streams!
Same here now I have him on a created gecko diet but I’ll have to try this when I get crickets again he’s so skinny you can see a faint outline of his ribs I feed him every 2 days because he won’t eat day after day so I want him to get that extra fat on him and protein
Omg you’re a true life saver. This actually worked. I’ve had my lizard for about a week and this was his very first eating from me. Research told me not to push but I tried holding a cricket for a few minutes a day and he wouldn’t go for it. I ripped the head off a little one and he took it plus 2 more live crickets after. I feel like a proud mama. Thank you soooo freaking much!!!!
My gecko I just received from a breeder has been raised on only mealworms and I've been worried about that but she's never seen a cricket and I've been afraid that she won't eat them and I didn't know what to do and when I Googled it this video it came up and it gave me hope that I can get her to start eating crickets, thank you so much for posting this
When I first clicked on this and you flexed I thought ohhh naw not listening to this tool but, out of all the other “geckos eating crickets” videos on here this was by far the most helpful. I’m new to this little guys. So I’m trying to learn all I can. Thanks man!
Mine is doing the same thing I got him a couple days ago and he won't eat insects he is only eating a bit of fruit but I am gonna try this method later
Wow! This really works, I have one crestie who as of late stopped eating crickets so I got a little worried, but I tried this and he went for it instantly! Thanks for sharing
I’ll have to try this. My juvenile I just got a month ago is terrified of insects. Which is odd because he ate a small super worm the first night I brought him home.
I’ve never had a tip from youtube work this insanely well. i had a gecko that wouldn’t touch crickets for multiple years and i did this trick and she yoinked the cricket in less than half a second 😳😳 thank you very much for the video
This video helped me soooo much my gecko refused every other way I tried to feed him insects and I tried this method and he ate 2!! Thank you so much this was so helpful!!!
Before my gecko eats crickets he like lifts up his head. I saw him eat crickets for the first time this week! He’s been eating but I just have never seen him do it.
My gecko started eating insects after I switched him to black panther diet, the insect based one. I guess he started recognizing the smell of insects as a tasty thing.
Thanks for the tip! I recently got a baby crested gecko and I was struggling to get it to eat insects but I did this trick and it went for the cricket immediately! It was legendary!
Yes this worked so good! My gecko loved crickets when he was younger but now that he was older he lost interest and got scared of him, i just tried this and I finally got him to eat a few crickets! Im so happy
What if this still doesn’t work? I even tried dipping it in the Pangea mix and my gecko only licked off the Pangea. It got some of the guts in its mouth and just ran off. It still eats the mix but won’t eat the insects
This sorta works for me I'm trying to get my crested geckos to eat mealworms aswell but they won't take it right away unless I injure the mealworm. She will take crickets right of the bat though.
I got a 7 week old crusted gecko....what our other good insects to feed besides cricks ?? He likes crickets ... I dont ... He only eats 1 a week and i can but they 1 at a time from the pet store but worms ill handle which are the best for baby Flokie
Is it okay to not feed insects if I only feed my gecko Pangea breeder formula which is mostly insects and and calcium and he eats it up. I feed him every other night and he eats like half of a water bottle cap and he’s just a juvenile
My crestie used to eat her crickets right as she saw them move then less and less. Then I hadn't for quite a while and she got aggressive out of no where so I gave her some and she was perfectly docile but showed no interest in crickets :/ she's about 7 and a half years old
My gecko has eaten crickets before, I saw him eat them at the pet store. I’ve had him for two days and he’s not eating so I’m trying to feed him crickets but he won’t eat.
Everybody is having problems getting their crested gecko to eat bugs. Am I the only one who has a crestie that will ONLY eat bugs. I cannot get mine to eat it's crested gecko powder diet. I brought it home with zoo med watermelon diet. Won't touch it. Now I'm trying Pangea apricot diet. Still won't eat it.
I did this and he still won't eat insects... he's only eaten two waxworms and NOTHING ELSE. Won't eat crickets, won't even look at dubias. I've done this method for dubias AND crickets. He freaks out when the goop touches his face, he doesn't lick it off until he runs up my arm first, or out of his enclosure when I try to do it there, and at that point I can get him to eat the cricket. I'm just worried he won't grow right just on Pangea. He's about 5 grams at this point, I got him about a month ago, so he's probably around 3 1/2 to 4 months old. I'm going to try mixing insects into his cgd and maybe then he'll realize they are food...
Hi! Do you know if this method also work for dubias and mealworms? Should I crush those, too, so bug goo leaks out and my crestie will eat them? He is almost a year old, and suddenly won’t eat insects anymore. However, I did rip a cricket’s head off and presented it to my crestie. Worked like a charm.
It helped a lot ^_^ I have my baby crested gecko for 4 month and I had struggle to feed her crickets. So I tried to buy them again (this time microcrickets, since she's just a baby) and I didn't know how to feed her, she refused to eat them and she ran away from her when I made first try 3 months ago. This time I tried this method and it worked! Few minutes ago she ate 2 of them and now she's chilling in her enclosure ^_^
There are many videos about handling a crested gecko and so on but, how do I get my crestie to first come on my Hand and not run away or something (beside their normal behaviour) ?
I have a 14 week old crested gecko little boy and past 2 nights he's been near the bottom looking around so I given him a meal worm and he hunted it and had it 2 nights later he at the bottom again so tonight iv given him a worm is it to much for him? And i normally give him food that he licked off like end of a spoon but he jumped at it last time I done that so I'm nervous he will bite me now lol any tips
Thank you sooooo much! My baby Leo came from the breeder on locusts but I’ve successfully got her on crickets now and I’m sure it is good for our bond that I’m tong feeding her until she’s hunting them too.
I want to thank you for your advice on the matter, I got a juvenile crested from the petco I work at, he was fed diet and crickets but I never saw him eat the crickets so I was concerned. Sure enough he didnt like them. In fact he seemed afraid of them. So, much to my dismay, ( I hate handling crickets,) I decided to try this trick. I want him to be able to have protein, hopefully at some point live protein (but I'll do what I have to) I did actually have to take it a step farther though, he would eat the heads, and I had to actually rip the torso in half so it was small enough to eat, but big enough to chew. That was actually something interesting, he didnt seem to get the concept of opening his mouth to eat, but he caught on. But yeah I was able to get him to eat the entire cricket, just in smaller bits. I'm gonna keep trying, tomorrow I'll try headless again (god its gross, but it is my responsibility), and if not I can try to rip it in half till he catches on more. I am feeling better though after getting him to eat one I've had him for 4 days so I am glad. I'm confident he'll be able to eat full small crickets soon. I'm still not sure if he'll fully hunt though, he didnt exactly snatch it. He'd just lick it and then he started to pull on it. But we'll see. Thank you again, I think it took me like, 30 minutes the first time I even had to take the head off... I'm getting better about it.
Thank you!!! My boyfriend and I were trying forever to get our gecko to eat and this hack wouldn’t work for him. I read your comment and did exactly what you did and he finally ate
Thank you so much I have to crested geckos thst don’t like crickets I tried this method today and now their going crazy for them thank you once again 👍👍👍
I can't get my crestie to eat the powder diet. I've tried 5 different kinds and he will not touch them. I even tried hand feeding him and the smart arse wiped the food off on my hand. He loves crickets and sometimes meal worms or wax worms, but NOT THE POWDERED FOOD. I not only tried different flavors and brands, but different texture and consistency. I was suggested by a fellow crestie lover to try baby food... Tried all the tropical kinds of flavors and NOTHING. He literally will wipe it off his mouth. HELP ME!!!!
It took me over 7 months to stop having to hand feed my geko. I got him/ her in January and it is now August.... my geko is JUST NOW eating crickets. Before the geko wouldn’t even open it’s damn mouth didn’t want anything to do with the cricket. I was forced to HAND FEED HIM EVERY THREE DAYS 😭😭😭😭 thank god those days are over. For anyone who went through this please know it will pass.... maybe 7 months maybe longer maybe not.... 😂😭
My crested geckos prefer crickets they don't really like fruits :0 so i gatta make it move like a bug and it tricks them but they will often spit it out once they notice
Great video, I’ve used this method and that’s what got my picky gecko to start eating bugs again. He ate them as a baby, but he lost interest in his adult life. I actually first heard of this from one of your live streams!

@@Meep420 i hope he’s doing now!!:(
I’ve been struggling to get my new crestie to eat her crickets, and this finally did the trick, thank you so much 😭
Omg you’re a true life saver. This actually worked. I’ve had my lizard for about a week and this was his very first eating from me. Update: It worked! My stubborn little one finally eats crickets! Again thank you for this tip :D
Just tried this on my juvenile, worked first time. Awsome vid!
Thank you for this video! After 3 days of trying, we finally got my new baby crestie to eat a cricket using this trick 🎉
Glad it helped!
The energy at the end! Haha love it bro 👊🏼😎😂
Thanks bro!
Wow! This really works, I have one crestie who as of late stopped eating crickets so I got a little worried, but I tried this and he went for it instantly! Thanks for sharing
Can you do a video of the geckos eating the grub pie? I am intrigued by this bug alternative and potential additive to the crested gecko diet.
I’ll have to try this. My juvenile I just got a month ago is terrified of insects. Which is odd because he ate a small super worm the first night I brought him home.

Wow can’t wait (well not THRILLED about the ripping head off bit) to try this.
I very much want my gecko to get some protein from bugs.
New subscriber my friend, thank you! My adult is finally eating crickets and I’m so happy because he’s kind of a small guy. Yay!
Tried it. It hasn’t worked for my newer gecko. : /
She will take crickets right of the bat though.
you shouldn't feed crested geckos mealworms. Mealworms have too much chitin for them to digest since they are lower temperature reptiles.
X DragonxMaster X Don’t feed your gecko mealworms. They don’t really like it either. Just stick with crickets. I think mealworms is more for leopard.
I got a 7 week old crusted gecko....what our other good insects to feed besides cricks ?? He likes crickets ... I dont ... He only eats 1 a week and i can but they 1 at a time from the pet store but worms ill handle which are the best for baby Flokie

This worked for my gargoyle who never wanted to eat insects, wasn't fed him at his previous home. Thanks! Now crunching dubias!
Thanks for your video. It was very helpful and our little gecko got his first cricket!))))
How many crickets can normally eat a crested gecko at a time?
This just worked for my 2month(2.5grams) and 11month(8 grams) crested gecko! Thanks so much. The gravy was the trick
My crestie used to eat her crickets right as she saw them move then less and less. Then I hadn't for quite a while and she got aggressive out of no where so I gave her some and she was perfectly docile but showed no interest in crickets :/ she's about 7 and a half years old

Do Gargoyle Gecko eat dubia roaches? is dubia too hard for Grag to digest?
Thanks
It is fine to introduce Dubia roaches also? I have a colony for my Beardie and Leopard Gecko and we are working on a Crestie and/or Gargoyle.
Thanks for the video bro very informative!
my pleasure
I remember thinking I dont need this, well after my gecko became an adult, she grew out of cricket and dubias
THAnks this helped my baby have her first cricket was so worried!
My garg named Dobby eats everything, he loves all food, live or not. I’m not sure why I watched this.
Do I do the same with dubia roaches do I Crush their heads and let the juice flow out
Thank you so much my gecko used to run away from the crickets and now he’s devouring them
Hi! Do you know if this method also work for dubias and mealworms? Should I crush those, too, so bug goo leaks out and my crestie will eat them? Hello so if i give my geckos the repashy grub pie they will grow as fast as if i give then live insects?
Thank you sooooo much! My baby Leo came from the breeder on locusts but I’ve successfully got her on crickets now and I’m sure it is good for our bond that I’m tong feeding her until she’s hunting them too.

Thank you so much this actually worked I have been stressing about him not eating and then I automatically feed him 3
My like 7 month old crested gecko hates crickets? I know this was the whole point if the video but like any more hints?
What the recommended healthy amount of cricket to give a juvenile per feeding?
