I'm a Swifty through and through and I loved Midnights album, but SZA DESERVED AOTY! SOS was incredible and was no skips, stayed at number 1 on the charts for what, 10 or 11 weeks straight? I mean...that was a huge snub. I think they just wanted to give it to Taylor so she could have the record for having the most AOTY wins, which is 4. No one else has done that, and it's impressive. HOWEVER, it was nowhere near as good as SOS. SOS was phenomenal and made me a SZA stan!

As a member of the GP (general public) who really didnt listen to much from either of them. Nicki’s unhinged reaction was a complete turn off from her as a person. Gave Megan a whole follow on IG and started checking out her other songs and that’s probably the case with a whole lot of people. Megan definitely won this round. Not sure if Nicki can really comeback from this disaster she’ll need a good PR agent but we’ll see.

I think they had asked her last minute when they heard the news of Whitney’s passing, but I think because it was Nicki’s first Grammy performance she basically said “fuck that I’m going to perform anyway”. I am a whole hottie but without all the smoke Nicki gave that record, and without all the nastiness and the stuff about the deceased mother, even I would not have streamed the song as much as I did and I certainly wouldn't have opened up my iTunes AND AMAZON MUSIC to buy multiple copies. Nicki fell for the trap. I think it was strategic and planned in advance. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE HISS 🐍. The video is sickening. The bars are fire. But this is a perfect example of paying your enemies too much attention and that energy being used against you. She also got thar long coveted Grammy snatched out of her hands as a result. Truthfully, before Hiss, we already knew about Nicki's husband and brother. There were folks already done with Nicki, myself included, because of that. I agree that some people definitely hopped on the wagon, but i think a majority of people were just so happy that she finally got called out on it.

I think it’s way too late. As a former Nicki fan, I stepped back from stanning her years ago because I saw something like this coming. The more she continues to act like this, the faster she tarnishes her legacy.

Nicki took a way different approach than what she normally does with her rap beefs. She responded almost immediately and allowed that girl to get more traction on her song. Then again I feel like Nicki is proving a point. In Big Foot she said she knows this is getting her the most attention that she’s ever had. The main question is will the “support” last for Megan? After listening to Hiss to spite Nicki, will that translate to other tracks? Will Megan gain respect from her rap peers?
Right now everything is very speculative. Which is good! Curiosity is good.
After Hiss, people who either didn't know about her or dismissed her have become stans, fans, casual and curious or _aware_ of her. Now it's up to her to make something of that energy buff. Her next album will have A spotlight. People will love it, hate or whatever but they will talk about it and they will always reference Hiss when doing so. As of now, we'll probably see increased visibility of her previous works as people start learning more about her.
Will her new and old fans rival the barbz in size and buying power? Probably not, but that's okay! Barbz is a 17 yo fandom. What Megan has to help counter that is marketability and good GP rating. She's _visible_ with endorsements, cameos, performances and sponsorships (Nike, Planet Fitness, Disney's She Hulk, Mean Girls, etc.). Her Summer Tour and album will help solidify her power. People will show up and corporations/businesses will perk up. Some examples: Hennessy @ Megan just a couple days ago after her IG live, also K-pop fans love her, she did a collab with BTS a couple years ago, anime fans love her because she is an anime nerd and I forget but there is a Japanese manga artist who created a character inspired by her. The crossover possibility is insane!
If she keeps that up, she'll be playing smarter and getting bags from several places. Maybe she won't have the highest, best, first all the time, but she has that ✨Independent Artist✨ tag as well as 3 Grammys. I'm sure a lot of sponsors are 👀 her rn.
As far as her hip hop peers, Megan sums up her feelings on the opening line of Hiss. She does not care what they have to say about her. Ironically the yin to Nicki's yang. Nicki don't gaf about GP but she has a prominent place of respect on the hip hop radio shows and pods. And Megan is like f that and them, y'all hate me, back at you - to a lot of those hip hop corners. In the long run (career wise), Megan chose the better portion. Those hip hop peers can be elitists and chasing their favor will turn you into Drake (talented but jaded and done with the disrespect). She's better off solidifying her personal legacy and pivoting into other avenues like other singers/rappers.
