In 1897, Germany occupied Qingdao with its fleet. In 1914, after World War I, Japan took advantage of its geographical position to defeat the German garrison in Qingdao and occupied the city. In 1918, after Germany's defeat, at the Paris Peace Conference, China, as a nominal victor, expected to reclaim the sovereignty of Qingdao. However, without the presence of Chinese representatives, the other powers at the Paris Peace Conference handed Qingdao over to Japan for occupation. The Chinese delegates refused to sign. It was not until 1922 that the then Chinese provisional government recovered Qingdao from the Japanese at a huge cost. If we say that Germany's 17-year occupation of Qingdao at least involved some construction, then Japan's eight-year occupation was a downright plunder. For the Chinese, that moment at the Paris Peace Conference was the pinnacle of a century of national humiliation.

To be honest, China has a coastal line longer than 18,000KM, and there are hundreds of beaches spread out the coastal line, from Dalian on the North, down to Hainan on the tropical area. The sun is not the same everywhere, I would say people in the Northern city like sun more than the people in the South, because the sun is way much stronger in the South and very easy to get sun burned, especially in the summer. Qing Dao is a bit North. By the way, so far you lovely couple have been visiting mostly the major tourism cities, I hope maybe in the future you have plan to travel to the middle or small size coastal cities, which might have a lot more tanned people on the beach.
I have family in Qinhuangdao. Dirtiest beaches I've ever seen. Oil in the water, cigarette butts in the sand.

15:29 you guys are right about the cover, it's called facekini. it has multi purposes to wear. to protect from uv, keep warm. but one important reason is to protect them from jellyfish. it was invented in Qingdao and quite popular among the old swimmers

When the sun is behind the clouds, it doesn't necessarily mean that the UV is low. So Taz is right about the face mask haha Some people are allergic to the UV, some are allergic to sunscreen cream. And I think Qingdao is the city which invented the facekini(脸基尼，几年前可火了very viral a few years ago).

30:25 talking about jellyfish, have you tried jellyfish in China? The texture is unique, chewy, like rubber band. It’s tasteless by itself, but we mix it with soya sauce and sesame oil and it turns out yummy. A must try.

I don't suppose you've ever experienced a sea liner in China? You can take a boat from Qingdao to Dalian, another very beautiful coastal city, but it's a bit cold now. Very beautiful and romantic.😊😊😊

Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai are the three most modernized cities in Shandong Province, and they are very close to each other. You have already visited Qingdao, and if you have time, you can also visit Yantai and Weihai. They are both very beautiful, clean, and elegant cities!

Why didn't they display the generic name which is actually a scat or dory when they could do it for the other 2. Nevertheless, this looks an awesome place to visit.
