  • Decided to take the plunge and get a Pakmule Cargo Carrier. So far it's worth every penny. It's very stable and extremely durable. They are pricey, but if you're in the market for a hitch basket/cargo carrier, this can't be beat.

Thank you for the video. The craftsmanship is worth the premium on price. You are right, buy once and avoid having to buy another one and filling up landfills with lower quality alternatives that don’t hold up.

I'm still undecided on which one. Trying to decide on the high clearance Ridgeline vs the Original one. I'm getting one, just can't decide. They look solid. Going on my 2019 4runner TRD pro.
My 2019 4runner trd pro is STOCK fox suspension. It's not raised any extra.... But I do like the idea if I'm off pavement that I will might need that little extra, over a few small dips etc. Is it pointless, if my trd pro isn't raised? Etc
    Then there's the original...
What do you think? The rear door will still have clearance to open either way correct? And down the road, when i get the swing back system/bumper for my spare tire... Room between the carrier and spare tire on rear door? My tires aren't oversized. They are 275/70r18 falken wildpeak.

I don’t have any problems with the departure angle on the Original Pakmule, crossing a dry river bed regularly in my stock 2013 Ford Expedition. That said, the Original is a huge cargo carrier, as you can see in the video. If you don’t really need the extra 12in of width, I would bet that the Ridgeline will look better on your 4Runner, unless you have an oversized roof rack or a lift and big tires. The good people at Pakmule welcome questions about fit and I wouldn’t hesitate to give them a call. (713) 726-4141

Looking at throwing one in my short bed Tacoma for some extra gear hauling. How’s it holding up so far? Does it do well on rough terrain roads?

Do you find it’s a little too wide for a smaller SUV like an Acura RDX? Wish it was a tad bit less wide. Wow and the price too…we work with special
Need kiddos and asked to see if they could give us a discount and they didn’t want to budge 1-penny on the price, we were really surprised.

It shouldn’t be too wide, no. And the price, while high, is worth it. We’ve burned through just about every carrier there is. This one will last you literally forever. But it is indeed pricey.

I thought Yakima and Thule were overpriced but wow! For the amount of material involved here, the price is absurd! There's around $200 in aluminum here and maybe 2hrs of welding 😆

If it’s something you’re going to use regularly, And by regularly I mean very very often, it’s worth the money. Most other options are just junk. If you only use it a few times a year then probably not.
